Two of three released after Uptown chase

Two of the three individuals arrested after a high-speed chase in Uptown have been released.

The three individuals were apprehended after they were seen driving a vehicle that met the witnesses’ description of the vehicle that fled the scene of Michael Zebuhr’s murder.

Aiesha Williams was seen driving through multiple red lights, and then led police on a low-speed chase that lasted several miles.

Police say the other occupants of the vehicle, Omari Thomas and James Walker, threw loaded handguns out of the vehicle during the chase.

Thomas and Walker were released from the Hennepin County jail at noon Thursday. Police say they may still face weapons charges.

City Councilmember Ralph Remington said the investigation into the murder of Michael Zebuhr is progressing.

“There are a couple of promising leads that are more than promising, very substantial, and that should lead to the capture of the killers," he said.

Remington also says he intends to have more lighting installed on streets surrounding the Uptown business district.

Police also say they have increased security in the area. Uptown has been designated a high priority for extra patrols, two squad cars have been added and up to nine bicycle officers will patrol the streets during warm weather.

Williams is still in custody and may be charged with fleeing police.
