The Great Western Demonology Circus
Now the Halabja Show

K Gajendra Singh
I have spent considerable time and energy over a couple of years in trying to find out the truth about the alleged genocide/gassing in 1988 of many thousands of Kurds at Halabja by Saddam Hussein. The western media led by the likes of CNN and BBC is quite sure. But it is not true. There is a pattern of sustained lies by western leaders and its media to demonise leaders who come in the way of west's policies .Truth has no value. Ly ing is shameless. The aim is US led western domination and control of the rest of the world for its wealth, whether it is in Yugoslavia, Iraq or Africa...

MEDIA ALERT UPDATE: IRAQ BODY COUNT - A SHAME BECOMING SHAMEFUL
John Pilger And A Leading Epidemiologist Challenge IBC

Media Lens
...How many journalists are aware that IBC is not in fact run by professional epidemiologists? What would we say if, in discussing climate change, politicians and journalists consistently highlighted information supplied by a group deemed by professional climate scientists to be "amateurs"? And why have the amateurs at IBC not responded to elementary suggestions made by professional experts in the field to test the accuracy of their surveillance system?(...) One remarkable consequence is that IBC is able to pass judgement on the work of leading experts in the field. The November 2004 report estimating 100,000 excess civilian deaths was produced by some of the world's premier research organisations - the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Columbia University, and Baghdad's Al-Mustansiriya University - and published in the prestigious science journal, The Lancet, following an intensive peer-review process. And yet it is of this report that the amateurs at IBC declared in March: "We have little confidence in the estimates based on the Lancet study and recent extrapolations, for the reasons explained. We think that the UNDP study offers a more reliable estimate for the period covered by the Lancet, and one which is not inconsistent with the type of data we have gathered. (para 6.0 a of 'On IBC')." This was written by John Sloboda, a pr ofessor of psychology at the University of Keele, described ! on his u niversity website as "internationally known for his work on the psychology of music"...

Iraq Mess is Literally Making People Sick
Judy Leurquin
...During the 1991 Gulf War our military attacked Iraq and its people with over 350 tons of depleted uranium (DU). During the current war and occupation we've fired 2,200-plus tons on people and cities all over Iraq. A byproduct of uranium enrichment, DU remains radioactive for 4.5 billion years. We have turned the cradle of civilization into a toxic wasteland (...) When DU weapons strike targets, a fine aerosol of uranium oxide is formed, which can be inhale d. Inhaled particles can cause serious damage, especially the insoluble particles that can remain in the body a long time. DU is an alpha emitter that wreaks havoc on DNA, RNA, proteins and enzymes. Over time, mutations form and cancers develop. Children have been born with birth defects. DU has been found in all parts of the body...

Not for War Crimes
Imad Khadduri
"Three officers — including an infantry battalion commander (Jeffrey Chessani) and two of his company commanders — were fired April 7 for "lack of confidence," (emphasis added) a Corps spokesman said. Officials previously have confirmed that Chessani’s battalion was under investigation for an alleged Nov. 19 rampage by the battalion’s Kilo Company Marines in the Iraqi city of Haditha that left 15 civilians dead, including seven women and three children"...

The Impacts of Radioactive Uranium Contamination on Human DNA
Globalresearch.ca
The use of depleted uranium in munitions and weaponry is likely to come under intense scrutiny now that new research that found that uranium can bind to human DNA. The finding will likely have far-reaching implications for returned soldiers, civilians living in what were once war-zones and people who might live near uranium mines or processing facilities. Uranium - when manifested as a radioactive metal - has profound and debilitating effects on human DNA. These radioactive effects have been well understood for decades, but there has been considerable debate and little agreement concerning the possible health risks associated with low-grade uranium ore (yellowcake) and depleted uranium...

There will be no war with Iran
Baghdad Dweller
Egyptian president Mubarak said: Shiites there and across the Middle East are more loyal to Iran than to their own countries. Which is true, but for sure he speaks about the Shiite generally, I don’t think normal regular Shiite people are just like what Mubarak says. While everybody is making his speculation about the coming war between the US and Iran, I still don’t think this is will happen. Accept it or not Iran is much stronger than the US in ME, and gained much of its strength because of the stupid, blind American policy...

Sunnis Reaffirm Opposition to Jaafari
SAMEER N. YACOUB, Associated Press Writer
Sunni Arab politicians reaffirmed their opposition to Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari on Monday, calling on Shiite politicians to come up with new names for the top Iraqi post to end the deadlock over formation of a new government. Sunni rejection followed a similar statement late Sunday by Kurdish leaders, who said they would not join a new government with al-Jaafari at the top. The statements by the two major blocs leaves the Shiit es little choice but to reconsider their nominee if they want to get past the stalemate...

New Bush leak scandal: Creating a bogeyman in Iraq
Will Bunch
...By all means, read the entire Post story, but the gist is that the U.S. has been overstating the role and importance of Zarqawi and his "foreign fighters" in order to downplay the fact that much of the insurgency involves native Iraqis, the people who were supposed to greet us with rose petals exactly three years ago to this day. It's just one more layer of the lies -- like the forged Nirger uranium documents -- aimed at constantly confusing and bamb oozling the American people about our real purpose in Iraq...

Gangster Government -- A Leaky President Runs Afoul of "Little Rico"
Greg Palast, BUZZFLASH
It's a crime. No kidding. But the media has it all wrong. As usual, 'Scooter' Libby finally outed 'Mr. Big,' the perpetrator of the heinous disclosure of the name of secret agent Valerie Plame. It was the President of United States himself -- in conspiracy with his Vice-President. Now the pundits are arguing over whether our war-a-holic President had the legal right to leak this national security information. But, that's a fake debate meant to distract you...

Niger forgeries, again
Xymphora
The 'new' story on the Niger forgeries is that they were manufactured by the Niger consul to Italy and the embassy employee known as 'La Signora'. As Josh Marshall points out, the story is hardly new, and appears to be more spinning from the same Italian intelligence sources in SISMI who have been obfuscating this story from the very beginning. He wonders why the Italians have arrested no one for the forgeries if they know who made them, and why the 'new' story contradicts the origi nal chain-of-custody story, where the documents came to the Americans directly from Italian intelligence...

'The Washington Post': At War With Itself
The newspaper's editorial page on Sunday declared Scooter Libby's notorious 2003 gift to reporters "The Good Leak." On the same paper's front page two reporters thoroughly debunked the notion.

Greg Mitchell
It’s no secret that the Washington Post’s editorial position and its news reporting often are not on the same page--in more ways than one. But rarely has that gulf seemed wider than in the Post’s Sunday edition this week. The editorial page, a co-prod ucer and then staunch defender of the war in Iraq, declared in a headline on Sunday that the National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) info "Scooter" Libby gave to reporters in 2003 was in reality "A Good Leak." The White House was not out to punish Ambassador Joe Wilson for raising doubts about pre-war intelligence; in fact, Wilson is the bad guy in this story for making false claims. Bush, in a sense, is the hero, for instantly declassifying the key NIE document--he was only out to inform the public. Now the poor guy, the Post complains, is the target of "hyperbolic charges of misconduct and hypocrisy" from the Democrats...

Documents raise doubt about Iraq terrorist's importance
Thomas E. Ricks, The Washington Post
The U.S. military is conducting a campaign to magnify the role of the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq, according to internal military documents and officers familiar with the program. The effort has raised his profile in a way that some military-intelligence officials believe may have overstated his importance and helped the Bush administration tie the war to the organization responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks (...) For the p ast two years, U.S. military leaders have been using Iraqi media and other outlets in Baghdad to publicize al-Zarqawi's role in the insurgency. The documents explicitly list the "U.S. Home Audience" as a target of a broader propaganda campaign...

Bush and Cheney Discussed Plame Prior to Leak
Jason Leopold, t r u t h o u t
In early June 2003, Vice President Dick Cheney met with President Bush and told him that CIA officer Valerie Plame Wilson was the wife of Iraq war critic Joseph Wilson and that she was responsible for sending him on a fact-finding mission to Niger to check out reports about Iraq's attempt to purchase uranium from the African country, according to current and former White House officials and attorneys close to the investigation to determin e who revealed Plame-Wilson's undercover status to the media...

Bush Plans to Use Illegal B61-11
Kurt Nimmo
It’s said Bush and his bevy of Straussian neocons will nuke Iran (according to research conducted by journalist Seymour Hersh) using nuclear-armed B61-11 "bunker-busters." Bush will do this "to prevent [Iran] acquiring its own atomic warheads," the UK Telegraph summarizes Hersh’s conclusion. "Hersh claims that one of the plans, presented to the White House by the Pentagon, entails the use of a bunker-buster tactical nuclear weapon, such as the B61-11, against underground nuclear sites. One alleged target is Iran’s main centrifuge plant, at Natanz, 200 miles south of Teheran."...

Yet another US military lie uncovered; Saudi warnings, US Marine speaks out
Truth about Iraqis
...Francis Fukuyama, you are a coward and dishonest intellectual. You have neither the mental capacity to comprehend Iraq nor the morality to apologize in sincerity. Should you wish to apologize, as an Iraqi, I reject your apology. I do not care for it. You have proven to have made a home of the dustbin of history for yourself and all the neocon cowards who run in your pack...

US Censorship and Google
The Mathaba News Team
Since 29th March, Mathaba News has been dropped, without notification nor explanation, from Google News. We have sent them 4 Emails asking why and not received a reply. Other readers who have Emailed them, some of them representing organisations, have received at first denials that we were dropped, then confirmations giving the reason that we have both our own news but also aggregated news from other sources on our site. They said that if Mathaba can seperate aggregat ed content from our own content, then Google News will be able to index that content. It took our technicians less than 60 seconds to write two words of code to put that right, however, Google News have still not reinstated us and continue to ignore our correspondence concerning this issue...
