[political-research] Carl Schmitt, the Inquisition, and Totalitarianism

This is a very interesting paper. Seems Vig and me share an interest
in philosopy and thus the meta layers of thought.

The paper reminds me of a couple of things:

Jan Assmann's (German egyptologist) statement, that all monothestic
religions share two essential common features, one is the
"inquisitorial" that is that people who think different have to be
killed (heretics); the other is the duty to care for the poor. One is
dangerous and has to be watched, the other can never be given up.

There is a strong undercurrent of religion in Western thinking.

An approach to Hitler and the Nazis as the propagators of a new
religion is not essentially new, but still of utter interest:
