This is why the mainstream media and the Democratic Party have protected and continue to protect the Bush administration: it is a useful tool in pursuing the objectives outlined in the Clean Break paper developed for the Israelis:
As long as there is a chance that Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld will commit more murder and mayhem in the Mideast at the behest of Israel, the AIPAC-controlled political establishment will run interference for them, blunt the edge of the scandals that mount around them.
This hasn't got a damned thing to do with oil -- there is not the remotest chance that American troops could invade Iran and seize permanent control of Iranian oil fields. We can barely maintain control of Iraq, which is a much less powerful nation than Iran.
