[political-research] Bush Has Nearly Wasted a Trillion Dollar of OUR Money on a Failed War

[Actually the neoconservatives are the ones who are primarily responsible for flushing a trillion dollars of our money down the drain -- the Iraq War was their project.  George W. Bush was their tool, in every sense of the word.]

We are highly recommending the book "In the Name of the Volk: Political Justice in Hitler's Germany" because it shows you, in a meticulously researched fashion, how important manipulating the system of justice was to executive branch control over Germany.
As we note in our review, it is heretical and blasphemous to bring up the Third Reich and Bushevism in the same sentence, but read this book and it might no longer be. The scholarly tome was written long before Bush, so it's not an anti-Bush polemic. It's just a point-by-point account of how the National Socialist Party (Nazis) insidiously hijacked the German judicial system.
It's most chilling point is that everything Hitler did was endorsed by the legal system, because he, as a "unitary authority," controlled it.
Does anyone doubt that Bush would do some very meciless things with such authority, which he already claims? It doesn't really matter whether or not he would follow Hitler's mad, maniacal course. The problem is that when one highly flawed, minimally competent, zealot has full control of a government, anything can really happen -- and much already has in Iraq and the Gulag of Torture sights.
That is why America was created as a Constitutional form of government, with a balance of powers and accountabilty built into the system -- to prevent such things from occurring.
Read this book and you will understand why Bush is so intent on ignoring the Constitution, packing the courts, and seizing sole executive branch powers over life and death.

American Theocracy: The Peril and Politics of Radical Religion, Oil, and Borrowed Money in the 21st Century (Hardcover)
by Kevin Phillips
(Excerpt)
Boy do we love Kevin Phillips. What more can you say about a guy who devised Nixon's Southern strategy and then evolved into perhaps the most astute, historically contextual critic of the Bush Dynasty and the current incarnation of the Republican Party. Add to that, Phillips is a keen observer of how the amalgamation of wealth in America has had a deleterious impact on democracy.
Plus, he is a great, frank interview, who minces no words about the mediocrity, mendacity and venality of the Bush family.
Phillips, as one review of this just-released book notes, is not going to receive an invitation to any Republican conventions. A couple of years ago, he described himself as an independent to BuzzFlash, with admiration for John McCain. So, he's no card-carrying Democrat at this point. He yearns for a Republican Party before the oil barons and "end times" religious fanatics took over.
