On Your Mark, Get Set, Bomb!
Remi Kanazi
Ladies and gentlemen, grab your rockets and start firing. The sovereign state of Lebanon must respond to the gross violation of UN resolution 1701, by destroying Israel if necessary. The Lebanese population cannot wake up every morning, wondering if their rogue state of a neighbor is going to drive them into the sea or possibly up to the mountains (it depends which direction the Israeli forces drop in from). But seriously, can Iran nuke Israel yet? I realize Iran doesn’t h! ave any, but since violating a UN resolution—excluding the 66 passed chiding Israel—is a death sentence (i.e. UN Resolution 1559), I’m sure the US government will have no problem express shipping a couple to Tehran. The world will call it "disproportionate," but since when did the ol’ red, white and blue give a damn about what those pansies in Europe and those carpet riders in the desert said anyway? My freedom toast tastes better with a little ass-kicking on top...

Those opposed to nuclear annihilation are appeasers and guilty of "handwringing"
Glenn Greenwald
I read numerous pro-Bush blogs on a daily basis, including many war mongerers who routinely imply that we ought to be eradicating large numbers of Middle Eastern civilians as the solution to all of our woes, so it takes a lot in the extremism department to really surprise me. But this column from Walter Williams -- highly recommended today by National Review's Mark Levin -- did so with plenty of room to spare. ! Williams points out that we could easily "annihilate" Iran or Syria with nuclear weapons launched from submarines. He then claims that the Great Generation of World War II would have done so already, but laments the tragic fact that we are deterred from doing this by what he calls the "handwringing about the innocent lives lost, so-called collateral damage"

Israel rejects Amnesty International report
Mark Elf, Jews sans frontieres
...Every time Israel kills children or other civilians some zionist or other claims that they were used as human shields. Now the idea of a human shield is that the other side will hold their fire so as not to kill the human shield. Since its inception, Israel has had no compunction about killing children so who is there in the whole of the Arab world who thinks to use a child, or any civilian, as a human shield?...

William Cohen Demands Never Ending Servitude
Kurt Nimmo
According to William Cohen, former Secretary of Offense and Clinton administration war criminal, few of us have made the sort of "commitment to universal service" demanded by our rulers, or are we "really committed to this war against terrorism," that is to say the forever war against Islam. Appearing on Fox, Cohen said "something has to be done to put us on a war footing mentality," as obviously the spate of fake color-coded terror alerts, revealed to be no! thing more than crass political monkeywrenching, and the parade of duped patsies in Miami, Ontario, and London, to name but the most recent, have not frightened the populace to the degree required. In order to get the people in the appropriate mindset, Cohen believes we need "national service," that is to say he is in favor of mandatory servitude, otherwise known as slavery, and he describes this national serfhood as "helping out at homes, health care, nurses, etc.," when in fact the state—or, more specifically, the multinational corporations and banksters who run the state—could care less about such things. In essence, this is a foot in the door for a military draft, as millions of soldiers, or pawns, need to be thrown on toxic and depleted uranium battlegrounds for the next generation or two...

'Fixing' Iran Intelligence
John Prados
More and more it appears that the pattern of manipulation and misuse of intelligence that served the Bush administration in the drive to start a war with Iraq is being repeated today for its neighbor Iran. Recently we reported on TomPaine.com one facet of the repetition—that Congress, not the president, has had to ask for National Intelligence Estimates that would shed light on a key foreign policy issue on the front burner in the Bush White House. The demand described there! pertained to Iraq, but Congress has also pressed for an NIE on Iran, where many worry that the government of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, which denies it, is secretly conducting a nuclear weapons development program...

Stoking Hate Toward Arabs and Muslims Politicians Responsible for Climate of Racism
Sharon Smith, www.dissidentvoice.org
...By invoking the war on terror abroad, Bush has emboldened the cause of racial profiling against Arabs and Muslims at home. Fox News’ Bill O'Reilly asserted just days ago, "All young Muslims should be subjected to more scrutiny than Granny [at U.S. airports]. And we should blend some Israeli screening procedures with our own." A significant minority of Americans apparently agree. A USA Today/! Gallup Poll conducted in late July showed nearly 40 percent of Americans said they felt at least some prejudice against Muslims. The same percentage favored requiring all Muslims, including U.S. citizens, to carry a special ID "as a means of preventing terrorist attacks in the United States." Nearly one in four -- 22 percent -- said they wouldn’t want to have Muslims as their neighbors...

Saviour of Iraq's antiquities flees to Syria
Michael Howard, The Guardian
Iraq's most prominent archaeologist has resigned and fled the country, saying the dire security situation, an acute shortage of funds, and the interference of supporters of the radical Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr had made his position intolerable. Donny George, who was president of the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage, achieved international recognition for his efforts to track down and recover the priceless antiquities looted from I! raq's National Museum in the mayhem that followed the fall of Baghdad in 2003 (...) The culture ministry could not be reached for comment yesterday but a senior Sadrist, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Dr George had served throughout the former regime and "had done nothing to stop Saddam carving his name into the walls of every brick" during the reconstruction of the ancient palace at Babylon...

The Liquid Bomb Hoax: The Larger Implications
James Petras, www.dissidentvoice.org
The charges leveled by the British, US and Pakistani regimes that they uncovered a major bomb plot directed against nine US airlines is based on the flimsiest of evidence, which would be thrown out of any court, worthy of its name. An analysis of the current state of the investigation raises a series of questions regarding the governments’ claims of a bomb plot concocted by 24 Brits of Pakistani origin. The arrests were followed ! by the search for evidence, as the August 12, 2006 Financial Times states: "The police set about the mammoth task of gathering evidence of the alleged terrorist bomb plot yesterday." (FT, August 12/, 2006) In other words, the arrests and charges took place without sufficient evidence -- a peculiar method of operation -- which reverses normal investigatory procedures in which arrests follow the "monumental task of gathering evidence." If the arrests were made without prior accumulation of evidence, what were the bases of the arrests?...

Karl Rove's Blood Libel
Chris Floyd
From CNN/AP: Rove Blasts Warrantless Wiretapping Decision. TOLEDO, Ohio -- Presidential adviser Karl Rove criticized a federal judge's order for an immediate end to the government's warrantless surveillance program, saying Wednesday such a program might have prevented the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Rove said the government should be free to listen if al Qaeda is calling someone within the U.S. "Imagine if we could have done that before 9/11. It might have been a diff! erent outcome," he said. It's time to be done with the dangerous fiction that this kind of thing is just "hardball politics" – or indeed, politics of any kind, as the term is normally understood in a democracy. What Rove is giving voice to here is nothing less than the new blood libel of our age: that those who oppose the Bush Administration's unconstitutional actions are opening the door to a new 9/11. The implication is clear: anyone who speaks up for the Constitution is working for the death of innocent Americans. They are, by definition, traitors. Thus they deserve what traitors get: death...
