Subject: Remembering the mysterious anthrax attacks
<< "'Who had the means, the motive, and the opportunity to have
brought about these attacks?'" is a basic question that needs to be
asked. An extensive and well-developed biological warfare program
exists within Israel today. A motive for the anthrax attacks would be
to blame Arab terrorists or a `rogue nation' for this atrocity and to help
launch the United States into war against Israel's enemies. Lastly, Israel
had prior knowledge of the planned attacks on September 11.
Israel's bio-weapons programs dates back to the earliest formation of
the Zionist state. Dr. Avner Cohen documents Israel's program in his paper,
'Israel and Chemical/Biological Weapons: History, Deterrence, and Arms
Control.' Cohen begins by describing how Zionists during the 1948 war
poisoned the wells and water supplies of Arab villagers. According to
Israeli military historian Dr. Uri Milstein, the typhoid epidemic that spread
throughout the costal town of Acre in May 1948 was the result of Zionist
Jews contaminating the Arabs' water supply. In Gaza the Jews failed in a
similar attempt. The Egyptian Army found four Jews disguised as Arabs
near the water wells. The four terrorists were caught with a canteen filled
with dysentery and typhoid bacteria. All four were tried, convicted, and
hanged within a three-month period. Dr. Cohen questions if the two
incidents were isolated or part of a larger program of bio-warfare during
the 1948 war.
Israel's bio-weapons facilities are located at the Israel Institute of Biological
Research (IIBR) in Ness Ziona (also Nes Ziona, Nes Tona) a few miles southeast
of Tel Aviv. In 1952 the IIBR consisted of a single building hidden in an orange
grove. Today, the IIBR has grown into a massive 14-acre compound with several
hundred employees surrounded by high walls and electronic sensors. What
goes on behind those high walls is something Israel would prefer to be kept
secret ...
... A motive for Israel in launching the anthrax attacks would be to bring
America into war against Iraq and to remove that country as a potential
threat to the Jewish state. When Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990, the United
States Senate was thrown into a heated debate as to whether or not this
country should go to war. Senator Tom Daschle took the lead in being
against American involvement. In order for Israel to achieve her war objective,
this time Senator Daschle would have to be removed—or turned toward Israel's
position. Either way, Israel would win." >>

We were so looking forward to attending the Energy Department's Office of
Environmental Management's "2nd annual EM Transportation Best Practices
Workshop and Training" at the lovely Hotel Boulderado, in Boulder, Colo.
The first one, in Phoenix in 2005, was said to be a great time for the 150
local and state officials, Energy Department staff and hazardous materials
transporters to talk about risks, trends and regulations.

A one-page flier on a special Web site this year invited companies to
"secure a corporate sponsorship and realize profitable relationships with
influential decision-makers at this exclusive industry event."
The gathering "offers your company the outstanding opportunity to enhance
your visibility to the true decision-makers who drive the hazardous
materials transportation industry." Yes, indeed, "your target audience can
also become your captive audience," the Web site gushed, especially if you
fork over $2,000 to pay for the welcome reception, or a continental
breakfast, lunch or a coffee break.
It's unclear who came up with the bright idea to charge companies for a
chance to cozy up to regulators -- and save lobbying fees by skipping the
middleman.
But at some point top agency officials got wind of the plan. "Once
departmental leadership learned about the implications contained in the
flier, they canceled the conference," said spokesman Craig Stevens . The
department's "door is always open to anyone free of charge."
The Web site disappeared. The fliers flew away. And anyone who had paid for
the conference received a refund, we were told. It's unclear if the event
will be rescheduled.
So Much for Traveling Light

One more reason, albeit minor, to hate al-Qaeda. Back in the old days,
government officials could go on quiet vacations without a security detail.
Now, no top official can leave home without one.
For example, Deputy Attorney General Paul J. McNulty is off with his wife on
a two-week European vacation this summer touring -- we can't tell you where
because he might have to cancel and it's a 25th anniversary thing.
The Justice Department sent word to an embassy in the undisclosed location
asking for logistical support for 16 (that's sixteen) agents -- in this
case, U.S. marshals -- and for help acquiring rental cars, cellphones and
such.
The department says a preliminary request for 16 security folks doesn't mean
that precisely that many will go on the trip, which includes a nice tour
itinerary.
But sending any substantial detail, figuring flights, expenses and salaries,
will cost the government probably about $100,000.

Please keep in mind this press release is only layman's way of
thinking, offering examples as food for thought.
This, in hope that those with integrity in elected official
positions will fight to come up with acceptable remedy for recovery
in America.
Some say that every immigrant who has entered this country since
1980, should be deported, because most did not go through the proper
channels to gain citizenship.
But.
It was because of "US" (corporate america and all who benefited from
exploiting others) that drew them here in the first place.
We can't ever blame someone for wanting to come here for survival.
Especially when they were purposely encouraged because of the greed
in others and at the same time condoned by government.
Due to the established past practice in policy of dealing with this
matter, or lack of, we are now legally and morally responsible for
the well being of most of these people.
Some are saying they don't like the idea of taking from anyone to
give to someone else.
As in, when I said corrupt government and their partners in crime as
well as criminal corporate america should foot the bill to correct
and right the wrongs done in the illegal immigration situation.
It would not be taking from others at all. It would be simple
justice.
Those responsible who have knowingly hired non-citizens in big
business and/or any business or home should be heavily fined on each
count.
Taking all into consideration, each business, individually. Such as
how many illegal people and for how long.
Fines should be stiffer for those who fueled their greed as in not
even paying one the minimum wage, too.
In other words the filthier rich one is because of greed, they need
give back in the same measure of all they took and oppressed.
I'm also saying, all these rats in government positions should help
foot the bill who are found guilty of any kind of corruption, from
now on.
Their well deserved fines should be put in a special fund that will
be controlled by citizens overseeing they are used where needed.
Some say they are against the idea of non-citizens being paid
minimum wage.
They need understand because of this, our own wages are depressed in
the first place.
From now on all immigrants who are allowed to stay, should make at
least minimum wage so the reason for the exploiting stops.
"Lord" forbid the rich get any richer from this past greedy, selfish
and criminal way of life.
We have been oppressed by their actions and made subject to this for
so very long.
I cannot understand why anyone can't see the need for the wall.
It would cut down on manpower needed there in the long run and it
would create jobs in the meantime, at the same time. I don't like
the idea of a wall either but I believe one is needed until the
chaos becomes order.
Some are saying people need to get out of, "The being taken care of
mentality, and learn to take care of themselves."
I agree.
But due to circumstances and there are many in this case, we need
help them get to a point where they have a fair and decent chance to
help themselves, first.

attention to everything involved.
Please try to see the big picture before you judge what others have
to say. In fact, everyone needs see all sides of this whole picture,
cutting through all illusion and right to truth of the hard core
reality.
Truth can and does hurt sometimes but as individuals and as a whole,
we can get past the pain, then the healing can begin.
The lack of truth is always much more hurtful, especially in the
long run and very deadly for many.
Some say we don't need a wall at our border?
Most know we must close the borders "NOW" and everyone must
understand the need for the wall.
There's a stretch of fence that has proven to limit the crime in one
town that has been reported by main stream media. So we already know
the wall can work.
We have to stop the chaos and take care of the many wrongs on this
side of the border before we will be able to help others.
It's the only way.
We must fix America before we can help our neighbors effectively. As
we should have been doing all along.
We have to stop the flow over the border long enough to result in
fixing all that's broken here.
Stop the chaos long enough to get a grip on corruption here,
starting at the top in government and including all else involved.
Where there's a will, there's a way.
First, we need that wall and when the day comes to knock it down,
then we all can celebrate.
We need a plan for the recovery of our America and we need it now.
We need our elected leaders to work directly with "US" to create it.
A plan that will remedy all and save "US" as well as everyone else
in the world, too.
One that will take us off this road of destruction we are on.
A plan that will save all the good people from what could be fates
worse than death, as has been the case for many, for generations.
We now see where perpetual war has gotten us and who's benefited.
Those times are over and the rich and greedy are finished being able
to deceive the people as a whole.
Justly, the corrupt in government, their partners in crime and
(((criminal corporate america))) should foot the bill for our
recovery concerning the immigration situation as well as all else
they have helped to taint and destroy.
It will be sort of like taking from the greedy and evil rich and
giving to the poor and deserving.
Although here against the law, all non-citizens should be taken care
of on individual basis and according to their merits, or lack of
them.
They should be allowed to stay but no quick and hasty citizenship
should be given for those here illegally. Longer term citizenship
goals could be established. After proper channels have been met such
as backgrounds checks.
Everyone should at least be paid minimum wage, if not already and an
increase for all others, that is long over due should be awarded.
Please bear with me as I offer some suggestions from a layman's
point of view to use as food for thought in creating the needed plan
that will save us.
To help fund the needed programs for the fair treatment of non-
citizens, how about using the billions from the illegal immigrants
using fake social security numbers?
Then the controversial and illegal federal income tax could be
addressed as should have been done and remedied already.

reason, everyone should qualify for non-citizen benefits with a fair
shot at citizenship at a later time.

mess.
It has to be done.
Even the displaced Katrina people could gather at these many huge
camp sites in order to be placed where they could be helped in an
orderly and acceptable manner.
Maybe we could revamp the CIA to be the intake center for the
millions of applications that would need legitimate and timely
attention for the immigrants and Katrina victims?
The CIA is no good at spying and ruined in that department for now,
it seems, anyway.
The good guys and gals left standing after all the scandals play
out, would make great intake officers, wouldn't they?
The FBI, NSA, DEA, IRS all those broken three letter organizations
need revamped.
No band aids will do, we need complete cures now.

government entities.

This is very disheartening about no one helping this brave person
standing alone for "US" all
I don't know how I could have missed this atrocity...Please forward
this everywhere and take any other action possible...What if it were
you or a loved one?
I'm limited on my new account as to how many contacts I can send to
so I'll be able to hit only so many of them in media...I'll pick
them as wisely as I can
Been very busy with hackers and can't even post to the groups
Once I alert them I'm active it doesn't take them long to disconnect
my internet connection...sometimes just minutes later my spyware is
alerting me I have a visitor and I have to debug
My sbc account which is the spying "at & t" is constantly allowing
the corrupting and interrupting of my email functions so I can spend
little time reading email subjects
My email is backing up, really good and I can't even reply
They don't affect my email on this new account...Thank goodness
I have to copy the important emails and read them offline to get

Every now and then I post this as I feel it is pertinent to any thinking
person who is paying attention to the political state of distress of our
nation.
I do note that Webster’s has, since 9/11/01, changed the definition of
Patriot and Nationalism to be more homogonous, that is, wipe out the
differences, much as Hitler did to the Democratic Republic of Germany.
I don’t feel a need for anyone to agree with my synopsis of these
definitions, but I do feel a need that you read them and think on them
yourself as this is part of the bedrock of the constant theft of our
language that has gotten us to the 1984 speak that is so prevalent today
from this Administration. What the hell, I’m not fooling myself, I have

Israel has many friends in the United States government, up to the highest places.
An inside-job operation like 9-11 could not have been effected without Israel's infiltrators and Israel's friends knowing about it.
So Israel knew about the 9-11 frame-up and let it happen.

activists whose rage could be shaped and directed to use of terror)
to destroy the FBI offices in the WTC building and the documentation
evidence it contained, then he would be escape grand jury indictment
-- and, as an powerful added benefit, the (framed) Taliban would get
replaced with a regime in Afganistan that would permit a pipeline to be
built -- preferably a Northern Alliance druglord government that would
harmonize with Giffen's own unethical (murderous) entrepreneural style.

(So far this super-crime scheme involves only a small group of people--
Russian Mafia and perhaps a Giffen - renegade CIA or a Giffen
"dark-side" Mossad link. But other, even more powerful players
may have had involvement -- certainly they stood to gain
tremendously if the crashbomb frame-up were successfully accomplished.
(Prior to September 11 charges had been brought against
Alan Greenspan (forgive me -- in a previous post I said "Milton Friedman"
instead of Greenspan -- Friedman is a great and honest and honorable
academic scholar and Nobel Prize winner -- who, very superficially,
looks like Greenspan)
-- at any rate, Alan Greenspan, Goldman Sachs, Morgan & Co. and other
powerful American financial figures and instiutions had charges brought
against them -- reportedly a very well-documented case --over the fixing
of gold prices -- with evidence for that case too stored by the FBI
on the FBI floors of the WTC! These parties would not only profit
heavily from the "carrot" of both oil and drug monies circulating through
thier great
financial instiutions, but they also would gain from avoding the "stick"
of one of the most threatening lawsuits ever to confront the U.S. financial
establishment (realize what a guilty verdict in this case would mean to
these leading financial families and to the Establishment in general!) --
these parties would welcome predictable and certainly substantial
benefits from the the destruction of the evidence in the WTC
and of some of the witnesses and researchers on the case as well.)
Notice that so far we have powerful men with powerful incentives
who characteristically operate in secret and under the protection
of wealth, status and power -- both the carrot ($2 trillion in annual
drug revenues funneled through the banking system -- which has
funded much of the proceeds to fund the development of the
Princeling-Triad dictatorship in China, btw, -- (The communist government
has been in the opium business since the 1930's -- Mao pioneered the
model later followed by Peru's Shining Path and Colombia's Maoist
F.A.R.C. narco-terrorists. And Zhou Enlai devised the plan in the 1950's
of weakening American society through a drug invasion.)
"China white" heroin distributed by the People's Liberation Army,
made from Afgan opium links all banker and oilman to the corrupt
and renegade the secret state agencies, CIA, FBI, and Mossad
-- renegade agents of either agency may have seen this opportunity
for mutual gain and found the way -- having profiles of each of the
players -- to propose the crashbombing frame-up as the best "solution"
to each of players most troublesome problems, while making enormous
profits besides.
Note that the Bush's are tied to both the CIA and oil and, through
Mena Arkansas drug smuggling and through the Iran-Contra
drugs and arms deals etc. (drugworld investigator Daniel Hopsicker,
as well as Noam Chomsky and many others have exposed this
thoroughly -- at least in the broad strokes necessary to support
this reconstruction of the crime.)

the Russians, to the John Birchers, to Wired Magazine, Harpers,
New Yorker, the Village Voice, the Nation, and Rolling Stone
Magazine, all having explored the drug - Establishment connections
in great detail.)
Which brings us to Ariel Sharon. His hard-head policy of
retaliation regardless of collateral damage and his provocation
at the mosque cost him dearly in world opinion. In fact the
Bush administration was very close to making initiating a major
policy shift -- obviously known to Sharon from the greatest intelligence
organization in the world -- Bush was planning the the
recognition/sponsorhip of a seperate Palestinian state. (Also
war crime charges had been brought against Sharon in international
court, further putting his hard-line policy against the Palestinians
in unfavorable light.
Mindful of Ariel Sharon's self-made hard spot, it is entirely
possible that the same CIA or Mossad mastermind that thought of
the crashbombing frame-up plan in the first place decided to take
the risk of telling Sharon about the plan, offering it as a solution
to the trapped old "freedom fighter's" problems as well. If the
U.S. could be made to think that the hated Osama bin Laden --
that Islamic fundametnalism itself -- is responsible for destroying
twin towers of the WTC and the American government itself,
then, Sharon would certainly grasp, American opinion woudl
radically swing to an extremely hard line against all Moslem
and Arab entities not securely under their thumb, and most
particularly, from Sharon's viewpoint, against Palestinians.
No profile of Sharon gives any indication that he would not
close on such a deal, such a serving of his higher good, his
prime directive.
And that is all that was needed to carry off this operation.
The getting and conditioning/deceiving of hijackers is an easy affair.
Mossad has infiltrated bin Ladin's forces in Central Asia and the Mideast
-- but it is a radically decentralized organization (as it must be to
remain viable)
and so it was an easy matter for this "dark-side" Mossad, with Sharon's
clandestine approval, to trick some very angry and vengeful Arabs into
thinking they were doing bin Ladens or some other anti-Zionist or anti-
Globalization radicals to agree to hijack the four planes. Millions in the
world hated the America and the globalization that the World Trade Center
represents. These recruited hijackers need not have been Arabs -- there
are Croats, Serbs, Latin Americans, and Iranians and any number
of other victim-pool people who could have volunteered to conduct
the hijacking -- possibly without fully understanding the end result of
the mission -- they need not have "signed on" for a suicide bombing.
(Many aviation experts on the net are describing a system built
into commercial airliners for taking over control of flight from the
ground, a system developed to combat terrorism. It is possible
that the course of the plane's flight was taken over by this system
installed to thwart hijackers (detailed in several reports
on the web.) But if the crashes were not effected in this way,
psychological-control methods, wholly sufficient for the job, were
also available. The technology of behavoir control is further
advanced than the popular press has made people aware.
Skilled psy op agents can get subjects angry enough and
convinced enough of the justice and good effects of "acts'
represented as serving their 'cause" to be willing to undertake
even suicidal missions. (Activist Alan Yu has researched this
technology as have other researchers from a broad spectrum
of political orientation.)
And this is all that is needed to conduct the terror act.
But then what?
When the crashes take place -- word merely has to be
put out by those involved (the CIA, Mossad, Sharon
and those complicit in the Bush Administration,
(based on his behavior, my money is on Paul Wolfowitz)
to push the theme that bin Ladin was responsible and that
this aggressive war to overthrow the Taliban is the only
immediate appropriate reaction -- since, the spin goes,
the Afgans are responsible for "harboring" bin Laden and
that "harboring is exactly the same as terrorism" and that
for that reason the entire Afgan government must be
terminated (must be "ended as a state" to use Wolfowitz's
revealing phrasing of September 12.)
The frame-up has all sorts of collateral benefits for the
perpetrators. Now the perpetrators can tell the unsuspecting
that bin Ladin's guilt has been established beyond doubt --
that for the sake of the security and safety of Israel and
the United States that it is necessary that the impression of
an "open and shut case" must be spun. (The news media
is exhorted to be patriotic and exemplary "wartime correspondents"
and sets about selling the blaming of bin Ladin and advocating
war and overthrow in Afganistan -- because they have been
deceitfully led to believe they really know who bombed the
buildings; and among the elite of the news publishers,
they "know" it is in the best interests of Israel and Wall Street
that this be the response, that this be the spin.
And Mr. Bush and Mr. Blair each benefit enormously, politically.
And trillions of dollars are enough to subdue and supress
criticism of the investigation -- after all, who would know better than
the CIA and Mossad exactly who is responsible? (The fact has
been reported -- in a different context, of course -- that the U.S.
intelligence receives all of its ground intelligence from Central Asia
through Mossad's network of infiltrator spies -- in other words,
whatever "proofs" the U.S. has (and has shown Tony Blair and NATO)
has come exclusively through Sharon via Mossad. The "evidence"
so-called, thus, is no counterweight to this reconstruction of the crime.
The "evidence" comes exclusively from the prime "frame-up" suspect.
Has Mossad done this kind of thing before? Remember
the USS Liberty, an American ship with flag flying,
deliberatly attacked and sunk (in multiple attack waves)
with efforts to kill every saior abord -- either to destroy
information that the ship may have intercepted or to
frame Arab states to gain the support of American
public opinion. (There are other cases involving the
blowing up of a disco dance nightclub, again to frame
targeted enemies -- a case actually brought to light
by the non-renegade "good side" Mossad.
The coverup apparently has unlimited resources. Two
Mossad men caught red handed days after the WTC
crashbombings, were carryhing explosive charges and
detonation controls in the government chambers of the
Mexican legislature? Apparently big bribes have been,
because these men have been set free.
One surmises that appeals are made to the bodey man
of a "destabalizing international crisis" is the truth were
to get out. This is ancient cloak of deviant ruling elites.
How many readers -- even if they strongly suspect that
this reconstruction fits the facts -- would not deny the
conclusion anyway because of fear of what this fact would
do to Israel's reputation and thus to her security and survival?
Yet this view may be wrong. If Israeli's on the "good side"
were to arrest Sharon and chase down the renegades of
the Mossad "dark side" and bring them to justice --
tensions in the Mideast would dissolve, and good-faith
restored -- good faith that will never return to the world
as long as the greatest terror frame-up in history is not
corrected by justice and the truth.
Also, if this reconstruction is valid, then that certainly
raises the liklihood that Ariel Sharon was also the
man who gave the order for the murder of Yhitzak Rabin.
Israel's greatest peacmaker (if that title does not go to
Began for his treaty with Sadat.)
Conviction of Sharon would mean that the warmongering
"take-no-prisoners" school of Zionism would at last be
discredited and that the humanitarian way of Rabin
could again be given another chance -- with
the Palestinians gaining restored faith in Israel to be
fair and just after seeing Sharon removed and brought
to justice.
I know that at this point you are poised to throw the
usual tomatoes and call me a "loon" and a "nazi" -- but
I know that those who call me those names are themselves
fearful that this analysis may be right.. (ANd I forgive
you in advance for having to through those tomatoes
out of loyalty and not knowing what else to do in your
uncertainty.)
It is a rotten world all around -- but my advice is
to seek the truth wherever it leads and then to enforce
justice -- justice against the real authors of the Sept 11 terror,
whoever they may be -- to go after Sharon just as strenuously
as you were recently ready to hunt down bin Laden.
And of course, the United States has a similar house cleaning
of its topmost shelves of power and influence -- a job that we
have been putting off since the 1870's. (How the entire world will
benefit from that job!)
(And I should make this clearer: The media are not silent because
they are conmplicit in the terror -- they are silent because they
are "yes men" who "know where their bread is buttered" and they
are not about to jump up and say "Sharon did it" until they see
others in their postions doing so. This is consitent with today's
"Dilbert" world of Establishment-monopolized organizations.
Only an earth shaking event, like the exposing of the Establishment's
role in the WTC terror, will shake down this system.)

that began on page A12, in the pages usually devoted to
foreign busines news, concludes under the heading, "Israeli
Military to Brief Pentagon" reveals that Israeli intelligence
is providing ALL of our field-agent-gathered intelligence
from Arabic countries -- it all comes through Sharon.
The article also discloses that Mossad has agents disguised
as anti-American Moslems, including perhaps, men
infiltrating bin Ladin's organization -- perhaps even in
charge of autonomous units that could be "hijacked"
(i.e. Israel hijacking bin Ladins men to do counter espionage
and even terror that the hijacked personel think has

with a KH-11 [spy satellite]. You have to be on the ground."

crime and its role in long-term Soviet/Russian strategy. This spring Dr.
Douglass is a featured speaker in a nationwide tour on the subject, "Battle
Lines in the Drug War."
Q. Despite some recent friction between Washington and Moscow, hardly a week
goes by without some public figure invoking the West''s "victory" in the
Cold War, which ended nearly 10 years ago. Could you describe your
perception of what happened with the "end" of the Soviet Union in December
1991?
A. It''s a gross oversimplification to claim that we -- the West -- "won the
Cold War," or even that the Soviet Union doesn''t exist anymore. We did not
win the Cold War; the Soviets lost it, notwithstanding our efforts to help
them maintain their empire. Not many people are interested in stopping to
ask what exactly happened in 1991. The critical question is why did the
Soviets decide to self-destruct? What was their strategic plan? The Soviets
never did anything without a plan. Yet no one has asked these questions.
We should pay careful attention to this fact: No bureaucracy simply wills
itself out of existence. Look at how our own domestic bureaucracies in the
United States continue to exist, decade after decade -- and they''re not mai
ntained through terror, like their Soviet counterparts. No revolution took
place in Russia or the other Soviet "republics" that would account for the
sudden dismantling of the Soviet state. Nothing forced the Communist Party
of the Soviet Union [CPSU] to relinquish its monopoly on power.
In fact, what the CPSU did was diversify its holdings, rather than dispense
with its monopoly. Party leaders either created new parties, or took over
the leadership of existing ones. And in anticipation of this, the CPSU and
the KGB -- years before the "end" of the Soviet Union -- set up all of the
structures of what they call the "invisible party economy." This was already
going on in the early 1980s, even before Gorbachev came along with his
"reforms."
So by the time the Hammer and Sickle banner was rung down, the Communist
nomenklatura had positioned itself as the rulers of the new, "privatized"
economy. The same is true of nearly every single country of the former
Soviet Bloc. Throughout the former Soviet Union we find "reformist" leaders
whose background includes a stint in the Komsomol [Young Communist League]
and a leadership position of some sort in the Communist Party. And we see
much the same thing in nearly every country of the former Soviet Bloc.
Q. You''re a specialist in nuclear threat assessment. How do you assess our
current strategic situation?
A. While it''s unwise to understate the nuclear dimension of the threat we
face, in some ways that threat serves as a diversion from matters of even
greater importance, particularly efforts by cultural Marxists to destroy our
country from within. [See "In Sade's Shadow" from this issue.] But we do
still confront a nuclear threat, and in some ways it''s more serious today
than it ever was in the past. Before 1991, our security was based upon the
concept of deterrence: An attack from an identifiable foreign rival would be
met with a swift and overwhelming reply. But this equation depends upon our
ability to know who is responsible for an attack. To a large extent this is
no longer the case, and five years hence things will be even more complex.
I''ll illustrate some of the dangerous complexities of our current
situation. As a result of proliferation -- both real and perceived -- it is
possible that we could be attacked by a single-warhead missile that could be
used to generate an electromagnetic pulse, or EMP, that could blind much of
our information infrastructure. We''ve known about the possible strategic
use of EMP for decades, and how the Soviets could use it to cripple our
sophisticated, computer-dependent national security system. As some nuclear
strategists put it in the early 1980s, through EMP the Soviets would be able
to attack the connections between targets, rather than the targets
themselves.
But in today''s environment the EMP scenario becomes even more plausible,
because the single-warhead missile could come from any number of places,
from a source we couldn''t identify, and against whom we couldn''t
retaliate. It could come from Russia, from China, or from a supposedly
independent third party acting as a sub-contractor. So there are ways in
which our current strategic environment is more dangerous now than it was,
say, 15 years ago.
Q. In recent years many studies have been published describing the emergence
of the so-called Russian mob, or "Mafiya." How do you describe the role
played by international organized crime in the ongoing Soviet/Russian
strategy?
A. First of all, what is commonly called the Russian mob is just the visible
element of the "invisible party economy" created by the CPSU and the KGB.
But what is commonly called "international organized crime" is hardly new,
contrary to what most commentators would have us believe. The narcotics
trade, which along with money laundering is perhaps the most lucrative field
of organized crime, has been a state-run enterprise in Communist China since
1949. The Soviets entered the field in 1956, and their Cuban clients came on
board in 1961.
Much of our knowledge of the Communist role in creating what the Soviets
called the "pink epidemic" -- combining red Communism and white cocaine --
comes from the late General Major Jan Sejna, who defected from
Czechoslovakia in 1968. To my knowledge Gen. Sejna was the highest-ranking
Soviet Bloc official ever to seek asylum here in the West: He was Secretary
of the Czech Defense Council, Military Chief of Staff, and a member of the
Czech Communist Party''s Central Committee. He was an eyewitness to, and
participant in, top-level meetings during which the Soviet drug offensive
was planned and implemented. He was privy to reports from the Soviets
regarding the development and testing of various drugs on prisoners in 1960.
Sejna offered detailed testimony regarding the role played by the Soviets
and their surrogates -- particularly the Czech and East German intelligence
agencies -- in creating the Latin American cocaine trafficking networks
centered in Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia. Those networks were brought on-line
in 1967, which is almost exactly when the United States witnessed the
beginning of the cocaine-use epidemic.
Q. Every year it seems as if we read about "progress" in the so-called war
on drugs, yet we also read that narcotics are cheaper, more readily
available, and being used more widely by our youth. What accounts for this,
in your view?
A. The biggest problem is the fact that narcotics trafficking enjoys
political protection -- partially for ideological reasons, and partially
because of deeply entrenched institutional corruption. The gross annual
revenues of international organized crime are nearly two trillion dollars;
this exceeds the gross domestic product of Great Britain. Much of this is
produced by laundering the illicit proceeds from narcotics trafficking and
other forms of vice. Obviously this provides a lot of money for buying off
political officials at every level. But it also offers valuable leverage to
compromise and manipulate institutions, as well.
The Soviets, beginning in the 1960s, targeted banks and other financial
institutions around the world, for much the same reason that they penetrated
and tried to control the existing organized crime networks: They are
extremely useful in collecting both political and industrial intelligence.
By penetrating banks, the Soviets gained access to a wealth of information
about governments and major industries, which they could use to their
strategic advantage. General Sejna revealed that by 1968, the Soviets and
their satellite intelligence agencies had collected detailed dossiers on
more than 10,000 people in positions of power and influence who had been
compromised by their involvement in the drug trade or other illegal
activities. One can only imagine how vast that dossier collection would be
today. This "kompromat," to use the Russian term, is incredibly valuable
strategic leverage. The proceeds from organized crime can be used to
purchase political support, and the "kompromat" can be used to ensure that a
politician stays bought.
Q. During the Clinton era, there have been numerous scandals involving
illegal campaign contributions from various organized crime figures, such as
Jorge Cabrera, Grigori Loutchansky, Ted Sioeng, Yah Lin "Charlie" Trie, Ng
Lap Seng, and others. And in recent weeks we''ve learned about donations
made by fugitive financier Marc Rich; those donations apparently bought a
presidential pardon. Do these scandals illustrate your point about the
strategic corruption of our political system?
A. Indeed they do. Cabrera was a Cuban drug trafficker who played a major
role in Fidel Castro''s network. Loutchansky was head of Nordex, a
Vienna-based KGB front corporation that was deeply involved in all kinds of
illegal activities. Sioeng was a Red Chinese agent and close business
associate of Cambodian heroin kingpin Theng Bunma. Trie is a member of a Red
Chinese-controlled "Triad" criminal syndicate. Ng Lap Seng is also a Triad
and is one of the leading crime lords on Macao. And Marc Rich, despite his
carefully manufactured faççade of humanitarianism, was a major player in the
CPSU''s creation of its "invisible party economy." The Clinton fundraising
scandals offered a textbook example of how the Soviet- and Red
Chinese-created crime networks purchase influence from Western politicians.
Q. You mentioned earlier that you regard cultural subversion as a more
immediate lethal danger than nuclear weapons. Why?
A. We cannot have a corrupt political elite, and a degenerate populace, and
remain a free society. The institutions of a free economy are built upon
transactions entered into by responsible, accountable people; they cannot
survive if personal responsibility is destroyed. The same is true of the
civic, religious, and cultural institutions that help us provide for each
other and offer social cohesion without government control. These
institutions are eroded as well when the public is corrupted by narcotics
and other forms of vice. If voluntary cooperation becomes impossible, all
that''s left is government control -- which suits the designs of cultural
Marxists perfectly.
Lenin''s program is to destroy the institutions of a free society and
replace them with a totalitarian state. Antonio Gramsci, Lenin''s heir,
understood that the most important institutions in any society are those
that the government doesn''t directly control -- religious congregations,
civic clubs, labor organizations, youth organizations, and so on. Gramsci
emphasized that Communists must "capture the culture" and corrupt the morals
of the public in order for revolutionary change to occur.
Q. Several analysts of international organized crime, including the late
Claire Sterling, have referred to a consolidation or merger of the various
underworld factions; Sterling called this the "New Underworld Order." How
does this relate to the ongoing amalgamation of nations into larger,
transnational entities -- such as NAFTA and the European Union (EU)?
A. International organized crime consists of both an "underworld" of private
sector criminals, and what we might call an "overworld" of corrupt
politicians and public institutions. These two elements are pursuing the
same objective, which is control over the world''s economy and avoidance of
accountability. As the political "overworld" is consolidated into larger
blocs -- NAFTA, EU, and other regional arrangements that are accountable
only to themselves -- it is taking on more and more of the same
characteristics we see in the criminal "underworld"; in fact, it could be
said that in the Clinton administration these worlds became
indistinguishable.
Marx and Lenin talked about the state "withering away." Might they have had
in mind the end of government as a limit upon the ambitions of a criminal
elite? This would also include an end to independent nations as well. Were
Lenin to see how the "new world order" is presently shaping up, he would
certainly recognize it as his vision at work.

are using narcotic traffic as a political weapon
in an effort to spread the addiction and lower
the morale and moral fiber of this country...
On of the most difficult problems in dealing
with Cuban refugees is to decide which are
fleeing from Communist Cuba and which are
using simulated flight as an excuse to enter this
country to serve an ulterior purpose.
This conundrum has been underscored in
Miami where narcotic agents discovered persons
posing as refugees operating a narcotic ring. Five
arrests have been made and the Narcotics Bureau
has pointed a finger of accusation at Red China
as the source of dope being smuggled into the United
States.
Chinese Communists have played an important
part in the Castro revolution since its success.
Their presence in Havana is largely represented as
providing technical assistance to the Castro government.
But latest evidence uncovered by narcotics agents
indicates that they have another purpose also. They
are peddling dope, pushing drugs into the United States
with the intent of spreading addiction and lowering
the morale and moral fiber of this country.
Unfortunately, the Red Chinese have allies
here--the organized mob.
Call it what you will--the Mafia, organized crime
or the rackets--no one doubts the existence of
a powerful crime combine in the United States.
Its principle hoodlum leaders are known; some
of the more "respectable partners" are not. The
crime monopoly is engaged in gambling, prostitution,
narcotics, labor racketeering and certain legitimate
businesses where strong-arm tactics can be applied
to curb competition.
Congress just recently recognized the inability
of local law enforcement to cope with this network
of criminal activity by tightening Federal Laws
governing the interstate movement of criminals,
gambling devices and crime profits. Attorney
General Kennedy has asked for even broader
powers to strengthen his hand against the mob.

I don't know how I could have missed this atrocity...Please forward

I'm limited on my new account as to how many contacts I can send to

Been very busy with hackers and can't even post to the groups

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL: URGENT ACTION
The Jerusalem Municipality is preparing to forcibly evict Muhammad
Is’hac and Yousra Herbawi from the house where they live with their six
children, one of whom is severely disabled, and then to demolish the
building. The family have almost no income, and would be left
destitute. The impact on the family's health, in particular that of the
disabled son, is likely to be very severe. The Municipality can still
decide to take into account the family’s circumstances and cancel the
forced eviction and the demolition.
The couple's oldest son, 24-year-old Mansur, is completely paralyzed
(quadriplegic), mentally handicapped, and suffers from frequent
epileptic seizures. He is bedridden and is cared for at home by his
parents, who are in poor health and are not working. Two other children
(aged 19 and 21) are studying at university and the youngest three
(aged 13, 14 and 17) are at school.
The family has fought a 15-year legal battle to save their home in the
Abu Tour neighbourhood of East Jerusalem, in an area of the West Bank
which Israel occupied in 1967 and subsequently annexed, in violation
of international law. At the last hearing at the Jerusalem Municipal
court, on 30 April, the Jerusalem Municipality requested that the house
be demolished and that the family also pay a fine of 30,000 shekels
(US$ 6,500). The court decision, expected on 7 June, is likely to
authorize the demolition.
The family built their home in 1989 and the following year was ordered
to pay a fine (which they did) and to either get a building permit or
have their home demolished. Since the area did not have a building
plan, the family spent significant sums of money to prepare and present
building plans to the Municipality. However, when the Municipality
finally issued a building plan for the area in 2004, several years
after the house was built, the Herbawi family home did not meet the
exact specifications (regarding the percentage of each plot of land on
which there may be construction and the division of the land into
separate plots) and the Municipality has issued an order for the
demolition of the house.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Israeli authorities frequently demolish Palestinian homes in East
Jerusalem and elsewhere in the Occupied Territories on the grounds that
they have been built without a permit. Yet it is impossible for most
Palestinians in East Jerusalem to obtain permits to build a home on
their own land.
In the past two years the Jerusalem Municipality has stepped up its
demolition of Palestinian homes. Some 200 Palestinian homes have been
demolished in East Jerusalem since the beginning of 2004, leaving more
than 600 people homeless. In the five years from 1999 to 2003 a total
of around 230 homes were demolished.
Since Israel occupied East Jerusalem in 1967, the Israeli authorities
have pursued a policy of limiting new construction in the Palestinian
neighbourhoods. The expropriation by Israel of large areas of
Palestinian land left most Palestinian areas in and around East
Jerusalem with little or no land on which to build. Much of the
privately owned land has been zoned as "green land", where nothing can
be built. Attempts by Palestinians to have their land re-zoned so that
it can be used for building homes have invariably failed. At the same
time Israel has been building large settlements (which are illegal
under international law) on expropriated Palestinian land in the area,
for the exclusive use of Israeli Jewish citizens. While Palestinians'
homes are still being demolished because they were built without a
permit, illegal Israeli settlements continue to be built and expanded

without permit are unheard of.
Israel is a state party to the International Covenant on Economic,
Social and Cultural Rights, and is bound by Article 11(1) to respect

ACTION: WHAT YOU CAN DO
One way to help change policy is to contact government representatives
including diplomatic representatives of Israel accredited to your
country. Many of them do not seem to be overly concerned about, or
perhaps they're just ignorant of, Israeli crimes in the Occupied
Territories. It's possible though, that enough pressure can be applied
from below to make them feel less elect-able if they don't modify their
positions. The draft letter below is offered below is simply a
template to be used or modified as you see fit.
Please send appeals to arrive as quickly as possible, in English,
Hebrew or your own language:
- expressing concern that the Jerusalem Municipality has issued an
order to demolish the home of Muhammad and Yousra Herbawi, in the Abu
Tour neighbourhood of East Jerusalem, and calling on the Mayor to
cancel the demolition order;
- calling on him to cancel all other outstanding orders to demolish
houses in East Jerusalem and to end the practice of forced eviction,
ensuring particularly that none is left homeless as the result of an
eviction;
- calling for a moratorium on all demolitions of Palestinian homes in
East Jerusalem until such time as planning and building laws are
amended in a manner that complies with international standards.

Dear Mayor Lupolianski,
The Jerusalem Municipality is preparing to forcibly evict Muhammad and
Yousra Herbawi from the house where they live with their six children
and then to demolish the house. Their eldest son, Mansur, is severely
disabled. The family has almost no income, and would be left destitute
if the house is demolished. The impact on the family's health is likely
to be very severe. The Municipality can still decide to take into
account the family’s circumstances and cancel the forced eviction and
the demolition.
The family built their home in 1989 and the following year was ordered
to pay a fine (which they did) and to either get a building permit or
have their home demolished. Since the area did not have a building
plan, the family spent significant sums of money to prepare and present
building plans to the Municipality in order to obtain the building
permit, which in the end, was refused to them.

modalities of the Doha Round, farmers are being kicked out of their
land by neoliberal policies. The Doha Round is based on the assumption
that free trade will contribute to development and alleviate poverty.
However, farmers’ experience with trade liberalisation is that of
increased marginalisation, poverty, exile and even death.
Farmers organisations members of the international movement La Via
Campesina are giving testimonies about how they have been affected by
the current WTO policies: in Thailand, farmers have fallen into the
debt trap; in India, thousands of peasants have committed suicide
because of rising costs of production and falling prices; in Korea,
farmers are driven to despair due to the import of cheap food; in
Europe: one farm disappears every three minutes…
During the WTO ministerial conference in Hong Kong (December 2005),
around 900 protestors, mainly farmers of La Via Campesina, were
arrested because they were defending their right to live.
Worldwide, farmers movements are being criminalised in their struggle
for their rights, for their land and their livelihood. On May 15 in
Geneva, the international delegation of La Via Campesina will expose
its position on the current WTO negotiation and launch its annual
report on peasant’s rights violations (“Violation of peasant’s human
rights – A report on Cases and Patterns of Violations 2006”).

cells, white blood cells, and unidentified cell types have been found
within the sub-micron fiber sample previously presented and submitted
on Jan 20 2000 to Carol M. Browner, Administrator of the United States
Environmental Protection Agency. To date, Ms. Browner has refused to
identify the sample delivered to her by certified mail, and to disclose
those results to the American public. A visual analysis has now been
conducted with a professional quality microscope on May 7 2000 that
reveals the important discovery above. More information and images from
this analysis will be presented in the future. Depicted above is one of
two remarkable discoveries of clustered red blood cells which become
readily visible after being subjected to immersion oil. The cells
appear to be of a freeze-dried or dessicated nature in their original
form within the microscopic fibers. Isolated and individual blood cells
are interspersed throughout both of the samples which have previously
been described. The surface of the cells appear to be modified in some
way, but electron microscopy will likely be required to establish
further detail. Professional medical analysis of the images and
chemical analysis of the fibers, and the subsequent disclosure of those
results, now exists as a fundamental need.
The individual that provided the images herein and those that will
follow shall remain anonymous. I was a witness to the events that have
been recorded. The source material for the images presented herein has
been duplicated and distributed to numerous locations across the United

Chavez Warns US over Iran Policy
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has warned the US that any attack on
Iran will have devastating consequences and send oil prices soaring.
Mr Chavez, on a two-day trip to the UK, called for a socialist new
world order and said nations were cowards for not standing up to the
"American empire".
The US has not ruled out military action against Iran over its nuclear
programme but is pursuing diplomacy.
Hundreds of supporters gave Mr Chavez a rapturous welcome in north
London.
Packed ballroom
The president told the meeting in Camden, hosted by Mayor of London Ken
Livingstone, that a US military attack on Iran would lead to Tehran
cutting off its oil supply.
"If the United States attacks Iran... oil could reach $100 (£52) a
barrel or more," he said.
"Moreover, Iran has said it would attack Israel, and I know they have
the wherewithal to do so.
"This would be a terrible escalation and I do not know where it would
end and I do not know who would get out the first nuclear bomb or how
many people would die. No-one would be safe from this madness."
Mr Chavez said the US "doesn't know what to do" in Iraq, which he
called "the Vietnam of the 21st Century".
Jubilant supporters cheered him, many clad in Venezuela's red, blue
and yellow and banging drums, while hundreds more were left outside the
packed ballroom.
Mr Chavez said capitalism was a "destructive" system and that
"socialism is the way forward".
Mr Chavez called unrestricted free trade "a trap by the world's most
powerful so they can keep the weakest in slavery".
Britain and a number of other countries have criticised Mr Chavez's
moves to exert greater control over his country's oil reserves - the
world's fifth largest.
On Friday Prime Minister Tony Blair urged Venezuela to use its energy
resources responsibly.
The president's trip has been described as a private one - he has made
no request to see Mr Blair or any government officials.
On Monday Mr Chavez will have lunch with Mr Livingstone, and will
deliver a lecture in the evening.
BBC Americas editor James Painter says Mr Chavez's strategy for this
trip is similar to the one he used when visiting the US in September
last year. He does not meet government officials but rather appeals
over their heads to appear as a man of the people.
Our correspondent says Mr Chavez does not want a "European flank"
opening that would support the critical comments made of his regime by
the US.

President Bush says Americans' privacy is secure despite a massive data
mining operation.
Ever since last December, when news reports began to indicate that the
government's domestic spying program might be more extensive than
originally thought, there was good reason for Americans to fear that
their privacy, and basic liberties, were at risk. Now those fears have
been justified after an article in Thursday's USA Today described just
how extensive the spying is.
According to the report, the National Security Agency is attempting to
track every phone call made within the U.S. to detect patterns that
could suggest terrorist activity. Unlike the NSA's other controversial,
and likely illegal spying program -- that is, the warrantless
surveillance of U.S. citizens' international phone calls and e-mails --
the surveillance is limited to collecting numbers and storing them in a
data base. The agency isn't listening in on the contents of the phone
calls it is tracking, and only numbers are collected, not names or
addresses, although they could easily be retrieved.
Nonetheless, the scope of the surveillance is breathtaking, and the
willingness of the country's major phone companies -- only Qwest had
the courage and principle to refuse to turn over records -- is
frightening. It means Americans' phone records can be traced without
their knowledge or consent, even though they are not suspected of any
wrongdoing, let alone any connection to terrorists.
But Mr. Bush, in responding to the latest revelations, assured
Americans that their privacy is "fiercely protected in all our
activities. Our efforts are focused on al-Qaida and their known
associates."
That is becoming harder to believe as more information comes out. As an
angry Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., put it, "Are you telling me that tens
of millions of Americans are involved with al-Qaida?"
Mr. Bush's denials are all too typical of a White House that continues
to tell the public it can be trusted to use surveillance powers
appropriately. In truth, the more citizens learn about the spying, the
less reason they have to trust government. That's largely because the
full truth about these programs hasn't been told. Instead, it unfolds
day to day, month to month. The obvious question that raises is: What
else is the government hiding?
There's no question that government has an obligation to spy on
suspected terrorists who may be operating within the U.S., or
contacting U.S. citizens from abroad. But the surveillance must be
within the law. That means going to a secret court to obtain warrants
before wiretapping phone calls or intercepting e-mails. And it means
respecting the privacy of innocent Americans at all times.
Regrettably, the Bush administration has been flouting the rules for
some time, and Congress has been too meek to challenge it. Perhaps now,
with the latest revelations, Congress will find the spine to stand up
for basic liberties.

access, sex chat access, Viagra sales purchase data on all United
States citizens and are cross referencing this data with recently

Allegedly, personal information and data collected on United States

Las Vegas -- Samantha remembers the killer settling into the crushed
red velvet chair, staring blankly up at her while she undulated her
hips inches from his face.
He didn't look evil, she said. Not even interesting. Certainly not like
a man who would, just three months later, hijack a jet and smash it
into the World Trade Center to slaughter thousands of people in a
suicidal fireball.
To the 29-year-old stripper, Marwan Al-Shehhi simply looked "cheap."
"Some big-man terrorist, huh?" Samantha said this week as she took a
breather from the two-dozen lap dances she bestows daily upon the
lonely at the Olympic Garden Topless Cabaret. "He spent about $20 for a
quick dance and didn't tip more. "
She stopped and bit her lip, throbbing rock music rattling the dimly
lit crystal ball overhead while other "girls" in G-strings gyrated for
grinning tourists.
"I'm glad he's dead with the rest of them, and I don't like feeling
something like that," Samantha finally said. "But he wasn't just a bad
tipper - - he killed people. "
Samantha would have never given Al-Shehhi another thought if she hadn't
seen his photo in a news article naming him as one of five Sept. 11
hijackers who stayed in Las Vegas not long before they pulled off the
deadliest terrorist attack in U.S. history.
Just why the five chose Vegas is still somewhat of a mystery, and FBI
agents are knocking on doors up and down The Strip -- the
casino-studded road cutting north to south -- to try to solve it.
But one thing seems clear. The self-styled warriors for Allah -- who
believed their hijackings would earn them eager virgins in heaven --
engaged in some decidedly un-Islamic sampling of prohibited pleasures
in America's reputed capital of moral corrosion.
The fact that she played a role in that sampling was disturbing enough
to Samantha, but after recognizing 23-year-old Al-Shehhi's bearded
face, she had another shock coming. It turned out one of his
accomplices, Mohamed Atta -- thought to be the ringleader of the entire
four-jet attack that demolished the twin towers and part of the
Pentagon -- stayed in the cheap Econo Lodge just a couple of blocks
from the Olympic along The Strip.
Now, she can think of little else.
"Some of the girls here remember a couple of those guys coming in here
in August, too," said Samantha, who like three other Olympic
"Samanthas" preferred that her family not read her real name in a
newspaper. "It's freaking us all out.
"For me, what I remembered most was the guy with the beard. You don't
forget a face in this business."
All of the women, she said, recall the men the same way: quiet, well-
groomed, polite, light drinkers -- and the opposite of big spenders.
AT LEAST SIX TRIPS MADE
In addition to Atta, 33, and Al-Shehhi, investigators are telling
business owners that Nawaq Alhamzi, age unknown, Ziad Jarrahi, 26, and
Hani Hanjour, 29, stayed in Las Vegas off and on between May and
August. They say the group -- which chillingly included a hijacker from
each of the four flights -- made at least six trips here.
So far, according to sources familiar with the investigation, the
supposition is that this was just a convenient central meeting spot to
hatch their plots because tourists of all ethnicities blend easily
here, and flights are frequent and cheap. As for hanging out at the
Olympic Club, the sprightliest strip joint on a dreary stretch of the
old downtown known mainly for $10 street hookers and easy heroin: "It
makes sense they would come here, because we're a nice place for
everyone, every ethnicity," said Manager Joe Algere.
The meeting-spot theory was reinforced last week by the discovery that
Lotfi Raissi, a pilot arrested in London on suspicion of
flight-training four of the hijackers, also stayed in Vegas in June
when some of them were here. Sources familiar with the investigation
believe Raissi trained at least one hijacker at a flight school in
Arizona. None of the flight schools in Vegas has so far unearthed
records of any of the suspects training here.
However, locals and investigators are still exploring two main theories
for why the radical Islamic killers gathered in a city they undoubtedly
saw as a den of infidels wallowing in Western wretchedness.
One, which is generating plenty of fear but seems to have no factual
underpinning, is that they planned to crash planes into something big
like the fake Statue of Liberty, or the 109-story Stratosphere Casino
tower near the Econo Lodge.
The other is that the five reckoned as long as they had to meet, they
might as well do it where they could gamble and indulge in the same
forbidden frolics some of them reportedly found at the Pink Pony strip
joint in Florida over the summer.
The portrait of their time here gets a little fuller with every new
sighting report that pops up -- though it's anyone's guess how well the
stories will hold up over time.
McCarran Airport Payless Car Rental Manager Suzanne Gerfy told The
Chronicle this week that her staff had found receipts showing Jarrahi
"and a few of the others" had rented cars over the summer, and they
turned the receipts over to the FBI. Jarrahi -- who investigators
believe piloted United Airlines Flight 93 on its fatal dive into a
Pennsylvania field -- wrote he was staying at the high-rolling Circus
Circus casino resort, which is on the gaudier end of The Strip than the
Econo Lodge.
"They all listed Florida driver's licenses and very much fit in, pretty
clean-cut guys," said Gerfy. "It's a shame. It would have been better
if they were more criminal looking and easier to spot for something
wrong."
Circus Circus staff referred calls to management, who did not return
messages.

Clerks at a Starbucks near the University of Nevada at Las Vegas also
say they served high-octane java to at least one of the killers, and a
pizza joint reportedly served them slices -- with ham left off by
request. Some folks at the Chapel of Love quickie-marriage emporium
even swear they saw Atta driving a cab.
FBI agents aren't talking about what they're finding -- "for obvious
reasons," said Las Vegas office Special Agent Gayle Jacobs. But area
Muslims have heard enough. They are tired of association with mass
murderers.
"True Muslims don't drink, don't gamble, don't go to strip clubs," said
Dr. Osama Haikal, president of the board of directors of the Islamic
Foundation of Nevada. "These things are a sin, just like what they did
in New York and Washington is a sin."
If the hijackers copped a lap dance or even a watery scotch in most
strict Islamic countries, they would be flogged, Haikal said -- and
they would be executed for the horror they wrought. Dying doesn't mean
they won't be held accountable.
"Wherever they are now, I'm sure they are getting punished," he said.

VIENNA, Austria (AP) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said he wants
to provide cheap heating oil for low-income Europeans.
The Venezuelan leader worked out a similar deal to deliver discount
heating oil this past winter to needy Americans in parts of the eastern
United States.
"I'd like to do the same here in Europe," he said Saturday evening at a
gathering in Vienna of activists and representatives of social
movements and non-governmental groups.
The so-called alternative summit was held in parallel to a three-day
summit of leaders from the European Union, Latin America and the
Caribbean that concluded earlier Saturday in the Austrian capital.
"I want to humbly offer support to the poorest people who do not have
resources for central heating in winter and make sure that support
arrives," Chavez said.
Chavez said Venezuela has two oil refineries in Germany and one in
Britain but did not provide further details about which countries could
benefit from the proposal.
He added that Venezuelan ambassadors in Europe were looking into the
matter.
"You Europeans can help us greatly. Your European social networks can
make sure the support arrives where it should," Chavez told the
conference.
This past winter, Venezuela delivered cut-rate oil to low-income
Americans through Citgo, the Houston-based subsidiary of Venezuela's
state-owned oil company. Some Chavez critics charged the heating aid
program was an attempt to embarrass U.S. President George W. Bush and
was more of an attempt to score political points than it was an act of
charity.
In other comments during his speech, which lasted more than two hours,
Chavez -- known for his anti-American rhetoric -- said that the "final
hours of the North American empire have arrived."
"So now we have to say to the empire: 'We're not afraid of you. You're
a paper tiger,"' he said.
Chavez, dressed casually in a red shirt, appealed to the audience to
unite and promote social change. For example, he said, more business
should be steered toward smaller companies to the benefit of laborers
in poorer regions, and that doing so would cut out intermediaries.
"We have to unite all possible movements, otherwise the world is not
going to change," he said.
Chavez, suggested the conference delegates meet again in the coming
months to develop further ideas. He suggested they meet in Cuba in
July, in Venezuela in August and in Bolivia in September.

I have spent the past three weeks filming in the hillside barrios of
Caracas, in streets and breeze-block houses that defy gravity and
torrential rain and emerge at night like fireflies in the fog. Caracas
is said to be one of the world's toughest cities, yet I have known no
fear; the poorest have welcomed my colleagues and me with a warmth
characteristic of ordinary Venezuelans but also with the unmistakable
confidence of a people who know that change is possible and who, in
their everyday lives, are reclaiming noble concepts long emptied of
their meaning in the west: "reform", "popular democracy", "equity",
"social justice" and, yes, "freedom".
The other night, in a room bare except for a single fluorescent tube, I
heard these words spoken by the likes of Ana Lucia Fernandez, aged 86,
Celedonia Oviedo, aged 74, and Mavis Mendez, aged 95. A mere
33-year-old, Sonia Alvarez, had come with her two young children. Until
about a year ago, none of them could read and write; now they are
studying mathematics. For the first time in its modern era, Venezuela
has almost 100% literacy.
This achievement is due to a national programme, called Mision
Robinson, designed for adults and teenagers previously denied an
education because of poverty. Mision Ribas is giving everyone a
secondary school education, called a bachillerato. (The names Robinson
and Ribas refer to Venezuelan independence leaders from the 19th
century.) Named, like much else here, after the great liberator Simon
Bolivar, "Bolivarian", or people's, universities have opened,
introducing, as one parent told me, "treasures of the mind, history and
music and art, we barely knew existed". Under Hugo Chávez, Venezuela is
the first major oil producer to use its oil revenue to liberate the
poor.
Mavis Mendez has seen, in her 95 years, a parade of governments preside
over the theft of tens of billions of dollars in oil spoils, much of it
flown to Miami, together with the steepest descent into poverty ever
known in Latin America; from 18% in 1980 to 65% in 1995, three years
before Chávez was elected. "We didn't matter in a human sense," she
said. "We lived and died without real education and running water, and
food we couldn't afford. When we fell ill, the weakest died. In the
east of the city, where the mansions are, we were invisible, or we were
feared. Now I can read and write my name, and so much more; and
whatever the rich and their media say, we have planted the seeds of
true democracy, and I am full of joy that I have lived to witness it."
Latin American governments often give their regimes a new sense of
legitimacy by holding a constituent assembly that drafts a new
constitution. When he was elected in 1998, Chávez used this brilliantly
to decentralise, to give the impoverished grassroots power they had
never known and to begin to dismantle a corrupt political
superstructure as a prerequisite to changing the direction of the
economy. His setting-up of misions as a means of bypassing saboteurs in
the old, corrupt bureaucracy was typical of the extraordinary political
and social imagination that is changing Venezuela peacefully. This is
his "Bolivarian revolution", which, at this stage, is not dissimilar to
the post-war European social democracies.
Chávez, a former army major, was anxious to prove he was not yet
another military "strongman". He promised that his every move would be
subject to the will of the people. In his first year as president in
1999, he held an unprecedented number of votes: a referendum on whether
or not people wanted a new constituent assembly; elections for the
assembly; a second referendum ratifying the new constitution - 71% of
the people approved each of the 396 articles that gave Mavis and
Celedonia and Ana Lucia, and their children and grandchildren,
unheard-of freedoms, such as Article 123, which for the first time
recognised the human rights of mixed-race and black people, of whom
Chávez is one. "The indigenous peoples," it says, "have the right to
maintain their own economic practices, based on reciprocity, solidarity
and exchange ... and to define their priorities ... " The little red
book of the Venezuelan constitution became a bestseller on the streets.
Nora Hernandez, a community worker in Petare barrio, took me to her
local state-run supermarket, which is funded entirely by oil revenue
and where prices are up to half those in the commercial chains.
Proudly, she showed me articles of the constitution written on the
backs of soap-powder packets. "We can never go back," she said.
In La Vega barrio, I listened to a nurse, Mariella Machado, a big round
black woman of 45 with a wonderfully wicked laugh, stand and speak at
an urban land council on subjects ranging from homelessness to the Iraq
war. That day, they were launching Mision Madres de Barrio, a programme
aimed specifically at poverty among single mothers. Under the
constitution, women have the right to be paid as carers, and can borrow
from a special women's bank. From next month, the poorest housewives
will get about £120 a month. It is not surprising that Chávez has now
won eight elections and referendums in eight years, each time
increasing his majority, a world record. He is the most popular head of
state in the western hemisphere, probably in the world. That is why he
survived, amazingly, a Washington-backed coup in 2002. Mariella and
Celedonia and Nora and hundreds of thousands of others came down from
the barrios and demanded that the army remain loyal. "The people
rescued me," Chávez told me. "They did it with all the media against
me, preventing even the basic facts of what had happened. For popular
democracy in heroic action, I suggest you need look no further."
The venomous attacks on Chávez, who arrives in London tomorrow, have
begun and resemble uncannily those of the privately owned Venezuelan
television and press, which called for the elected government to be
overthrown. Fact-deprived attacks on Chávez in the Times and the
Financial Times this week, each with that peculiar malice reserved for
true dissenters from Thatcher's and Blair's one true way, follow a
travesty of journalism on Channel 4 News last month, which effectively
accused the Venezuelan president of plotting to make nuclear weapons
with Iran, an absurd fantasy. The reporter sneered at policies to
eradicate poverty and presented Chávez as a sinister buffoon, while
Donald Rumsfeld was allowed to liken him to Hitler, unchallenged. In
contrast, Tony Blair, a patrician with no equivalent democratic record,
having been elected by a fifth of those eligible to vote and having
caused the violent death of tens of thousands of Iraqis, is allowed to
continue spinning his truly absurd political survival tale.
Chávez is, of course, a threat, especially to the United States. Like
the Sandinistas in Nicaragua, who based their revolution on the English
co-operative moment, and the moderate Allende in Chile, he offers the
threat of an alternative way of developing a decent society: in other
words, the threat of a good example in a continent where the majority
of humanity has long suffered a Washington-designed peonage. In the US
media in the 1980s, the "threat" of tiny Nicaragua was seriously
debated until it was crushed. Venezuela is clearly being "softened up"
for something similar. A US army publication, Doctrine for Asymmetric
War against Venezuela, describes Chávez and the Bolivarian revolution
as the "largest threat since the Soviet Union and Communism". When I
said to Chávez that the US historically had had its way in Latin
America, he replied: "Yes, and my assassination would come as no
surprise. But the empire is in trouble, and the people of Venezuela
will resist an attack. We ask only for the support of all true
democrats."

*WILL THERE BE WAR WITH IRAN?*
As each day passes, the possibility of a military conflict with Iran
draws closer. Are we about the see a war with Iran? What will be the
outcome, and how will this affect the US and its allies.
Let’s look at the situation as in stands at present.
The USA, after the disastrous and unnecessary invasion of Iraq, is now
faced with a real threat to its national security, not the imagined
threat Saddam Hussein was alleged to be. Partly as a result of the Iraqi
invasion, the USA now no longer has the economic and military resources
to consider a land invasion and occupation of Iran as it did with Iraq.
More importantly, the lack of political support for such an invasion
within the USA would make this difficult to mount a land invasion at
this time. To invade Iran would mean bringing back conscription and
placing an unsustainable pressure on the US budget.
Iraq has become America’s Achilles’ heel. Most informed commentators now
acknowledge that there is little chance America achieving victory in
Iraq. Public opinion in the US has turned against the occupation of
Iraq, and with little prospects of victory being achieved; there is a
growing demands for a US withdrawal. Yet for America and Britain to
withdraw from Iraq would have disastrous consequences to America’s
influence in the Middle East. It would allow Iran to gain defacto
control of Iraq, and threaten the control of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf
States. It would leave Iran in control of Middle East oil.
Sadly, the American people have turned against the Bush administration
and continuing the war in Iraq. While over 80% of Americans supported
the invasion, less than 30% now support the war. Current domestic
problems within the Bush Administration are paralyzing its ability to
provide any effective leadership in resolving the challenge from Iran.
What many Americans fail to realize that there is no easy option but to
continue the occupation of Iraq – withdrawal would play right into
Iran’s hands, allowing it to gain a strategic position to gain control
of the Persian Gulf. Yet the longer America has to stay in Iraq, the
worse the situation will become.
The American withdrawal from Iraq would allow Iran to gain control of
Middle East oil and be in a position to blackmail the West into
supporting its goal of destroying Israel. This is the real threat to
Israel and the West – not Iran having nuclear weapons. While the Sunnis
and Shiites are religious rivals, they are both Muslim and share common
goal of having Jerusalem become a Muslim city.
This time Europe and America are united in their opposition to Iran
developing its own nuclear capacity through its enrichment of uranium.
Unlike the US rhetoric and propaganda leading up to the invasion of
Iraq, the Bush administration has been much more cautious on how America
will respond to the Iranian threat. There are a number of reasons for
this, some of which are:
1. America does not wish to become bogged down in another land war in
the Middle East – its military is stretched coping with
Afghanistan and Iraq.
2. Its economy is also stretched, with record budget and current
account deficits, and increasingly depended on attracting overseas
capital to meet the short-fall.
3. The threat to the global economy if the supply of oil through the
Persian Gulf was cut off, which is a real possibility if Iran is
invaded.
4. An international lack of confidence in the US dollar if the US
invades Iran.
Both China and Russia see no benefit to their global strategic interests
in supporting a UN Security Council resolution to impose a trade embargo
against Iran. China, India and Japan are all dependent on oil from Iran
and an embargo would not be in their interests. Russia is using the
opportunity of the conflict to gain strategic influence in the Middle
East and has can see no interest in supporting the West through the UN.
Europe and America must confront the challenge from Iran alone.
The real threat of Iran to the West is the danger of loosing control of
the Persian Gulf, which for the last 100 years has been controlled by
the Anglo/American alliance. Without control of the Persian Gulf would
mean loosing control of the Middle East oil to other competing powers.
China, Japan and India will put their own strategic interests ahead of
supporting those of America and Britain. As the global supply of oil
declines, and demand increases, alliances will be formed out of economic
necessity, not previous loyalties to any one nation.
Russia is increasingly gaining economic strength through its new oil
wealth, and would like to see the role of the US dollar has the currency
for financing the international oil market replaced with an alternative
reserve currency, and have the ruble become fully convertible. Iran,
which has been under a US trade embargo for the last 20 years, has only
been able to accept Euros for the payment of its oil for sometime. With
the steady decline in the value of the US dollar, other oil producing
nations are likely to switch to the Euro for oil for their oil
purchases, similar to Iran, including Russia. This would bring about the
demise of the $US.
Iran is fully aware of America’s weaknesses, and has decided to call
America’s bluff. Not only has it challenged the US on its right to
develop its own nuclear facilities, it has also publicly declared that
Israel must be wiped off the map. If the USA allows the challenge to go
without response, it will undermine it authority not only in the Middle
East, but in the entire would. Yet there is little the US can do, except
use nuclear weapons to destroy Iran’s nuclear production facilities.
Is Iran really a threat to Israel and the West, or should the threats
made President Mahmud Ahmadinejad not be taken seriously? Is the
rhetoric from Iran’s President to shore up his domestic position or is
he serious? I believe he is serious. Iran has told the US and Europe –
we are going to continue with the development of our nuclear facilities,
regardless of what the West says. This is a direct challenge to America,
and if let go unanswered, will been seen as weakness in many parts of
the world.
Iran is unlikely to directly threaten Israel in the immediate future,
even if it does develop nuclear weapons. It’s continued to support of
Palestinian terrorist organisations is a greater immediate threat to
Israel’s security than the possible nuclear threat. Even if Iran did
launch a nuclear attack against Israel, it would only result in Israel
launching a massive retaliatory nuclear attack against Iran with
disastrous consequences to their own country.
What can the US and its allies do? What will be the outcome of the
growing confrontation between the West and Iran? Will there be war with
Iran?
It is very unlikely that the US will actually invade Iran or even bomb
the country. Rather, it will continue pursuing diplomatic channels to
encourage Iran to dismantle its nuclear facilities. This will be
ineffective, be seen as weakness by Iran, and will do nothing to deter
Iran from pursuing its goal of obtaining nuclear weapons and destroying
Israel.
Unlike with Iraq, the leaders of France and Germany have supported the
USA in opposing Iran in obtaining nuclear weapons. If the USA does not
step up and confront Iran at this time, Europe will have to fill the
vacuum. Europe, even more so than the USA, can not afford to lose access
to Middle East oil, or be blackmailed by the Muslim nations to oppose
the existence of Israel.
What will be the sequences of events resulting from not confronting the
challenged from Iran? The chain of events Iran is likely to adopt is:
1. Increase anti-American propaganda.
2. Develop strategic alliances and support from China in return for
securing the supply of oil.
3. Pressure on OPEC to move from accepting payment of oil in
currencies, other than the $US.
4. Increase support for anti-Israeli terrorist groups.
5. Seek closer alliances with Russia.
6. Increase support of anti-American Shiite political groups in Iraq.
7. Attempt to overthrow of the Governments of Saudi Arabia and the
Gulf States with pro-Iranian regimes.
The war with Iraq was the last through of the dice of the Anglo/American
alliance. The failure to achieve victory in Iraq has highlighted the
limitations of the Anglo Saxon alliance which has so successfully
dominated the world economically and military for the last 200 years.
Its failure will mean the end of the US dollar being retained as a
reserve currency, their economic collapse, and their end of their
ability to influence world events. It will mean the end of the dominance
of the English speaking people, and bring on a time of great tribulation
upon them.
The outcome will be a united Europe that will fill the power vacuum
following the demise of the United States. What we are seeing unfold
over the coming months is a significant shift of global power, from the
Anglo/American alliance to Europe. The coming collapse of the US dollar
will see a re-aligning of the global powers greater and quicker than few
now comprehend.
How has America and Britain got themselves into this mess where their
military and economic power be directly challenged? Can they save
