That's fantastic! It's exactly what has to be done. Make copies and hand them to police officers and firefighters. We've even gone into recruiting offices and asked if they have a DVD player and simply given them an unmarked DVD we burned ourselves.....They took it gladly.

We also so someone come in to our website from the DHS....who ordered another DVD from TvNewsLIES.org. We slipped in a Loose Change disc.....and said 'enjoy.'
Keep the great work!!

There is some group of law enforcement officers, Jack I think is the name of
the man that started it, and he did everything he could to educate police
officers about the time that the Patriot Act came out..

Here it is;
http://www.lawfulpath.com/ref/vk2k.shtml

I remember him being greeted with some of the same crap we get, yet he
stated that was a small percentage of the officers that were this way, I
assume about the same percentage of rabid ditto heads that we have to
confront ourselves.

Anyway, point being, there are a lot of well informed, apparently Patriotic
rather than Nationalistic Law enforcement personnel around. I have outgrown
being 16 in the 1960's and using the P word on everything in uniform and now
can differentiate between an animal in uniform and someone doing a needed
job.

Of course HS.. you got guts Kevin. You'll have to post daily, just you still
being in circulation will empower a great many people whoa re afraid of
everything in our system because of a few potentially dangerous bad apples.

Per the notebook quote below, when you succeed, the timid will join for
then, it costs nothing to be a patriot.

Thanks loads for all of the first steps that you take for the people of this
nation and the world, much less for our countries health. You and at least a
dozen others on this list that go out face to face talking to and
confronting the ignorance and evil that may attack while spreading the
truth.

URGENT: Help Susan Lindauer!

* Susan Lindauer -- Reporter Held Political Prisoner to Cover Up U.S. Genocide in Iraq

2 May 2006

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I won't use my day-in-the-life format today so that we can all focus our
attention on the stark plight of Susan Lindauer.

Hers is such a shocking story! It indicates that the US has become quite
similar to mid-20th-century Russia under Stalin and Beria.
So what can we do about this? What can we do that's effective? Are we
numerous enough to have an impact if we take to the streets?
Another possibility is to bombard all media with info about her, then
point out that if they allow one of their own (she's a former reporter
for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer) to be treated in such a viciously
malevolent manner, they themselves thus become vulnerable to similar
treatment. Corporate media are so tightly controlled that it's unlikely
this effort can be more than slightly successful--but it's nevertheless
worth a try, it's nevertheless better than just passively lamenting her
situation.

I've had to delete the attachment provided by Mark Bilk below because
with my super-slow connection it'd take all day for me to reach my lists
with it; however, all the info in it is available also at:

* Susan Lindauer -- Reporter Held Political Prisoner to Cover Up U.S. Genocide in Iraq

In March 2001 Susan Lindauer carried a message from the Iraqi
government to her cousin, the White House Chief of Staff,
requesting the return of weapons inspectors. This proved that
Iraq had no WMD, so the U.S. government knew that then. But Bush
and Cheney nevertheless attacked and invaded Iraq using WMD
as a pretext, murdered as many as 500,000 people, and spread
radioactive poison over the entire country, which will murder
millions more. Now they are holding Lindauer in prison on false
claims of insanity, and are about to commit and forcibly drug
her, to prevent her from ever being able to tell her story.

The attached 3.5 MB zipfile contains articles and documents proving
that journalist Susan Lindauer is being held as a political prisoner.
Unzip it in an empty directory (folder) on your disk, point your
browser to the index.html file, and you have a copy of the website.
FTP the files up to a directory in your web server (please!) and
you'll have a publicly accessible mirror of the website there.
Please send this e-mail with the attachment to everyone you know.

If lots of people know what the Bush mob is doing to Lindauer, and
why, then they'll have a much harder time doing it. But if she
loses at the hearing on May 4, she'll be imprisoned indefinitely,
despite not having been convicted of a crime, and will likely
suffer permanent brain damage from the forced drugging.

The location (URL) of the original website is:
http://cosmicpenguin.com/Lindauer/ The radio program is a
separate 8.6 MB file and can be downloaded from there.

Susan Lindauer was a U.S. Senate and House aide and a reporter
for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. In the 1990s, a CIA agent,
the ex-chief of station in Syria, told her that, contrary to
what the U.S. government was insisting, Libya had nothing to
do with the PanAm 103/Lockerbie bombing. It had been done by
Syrians acting on behalf of some U.S. intelligence agents,
who had been caught in criminal actions by an oversight team,
and sought to kill that team as they were flying back to
Washington to report. She communicated that information to
various members of the U.S. intelligence community, and wrote
some of it in a deposition for the trial of the Libyans who
were being framed by the U.S.

More recently, Lindauer tried to save Iraqi and American
lives by acting as a diplomatic back-channel between the Iraqi
government, and the U.S government in the person of her cousin,
White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card. Among other things, she
conveyed the message in March 2001 that the Iraqi government
was very eager to have weapons inspectors come back to their
country in order to prove that they had no weapons of mass
destruction. That letter is the first of the three shown below,
scanned in from a photocopy.

That letter, along with Susan Lindauer's testimony, proves that
Iraq had no WMD in March 2001 -- otherwise they would not have
requested inspectors -- and that the U.S. government knew it.

But the Neocons wanted to attack Iraq anyhow, to make huge
profits for the weapons manufacturers, to seize the oil
resources, to get more military bases in the area, and to
fulfill the wishes of their very close allies, the Israelis,
who had been publicly urging an attack on Iraq.

So, even though it knew Iraq had no WMD, the U.S. government
used WMD as a pretext for attacking and invading Iraq,
murdering as many as 500,000 innocent people, and spreading
depleted uranium dust all over the country, which will poison
and kill millions more people in the future.

This is why the government is keeping Susan Lindauer in prison,
and is now seeking to forcibly drug her into an incoherent
and helpless state using psychiatric medications, despite the
fact that her court-appointed psychiatrist found that she was
completely sane and competent (see reports below).

If she is permitted to tell her story, the world will know
for certain that the U.S. government murdered half a million
people for no other reasons than greed and power.

The hearing to have Susan Lindauer committed and forcibly
medicated is scheduled for May 4, but it might not be beyond
the government to move it to an earlier date to prevent her from
getting competent representation. She needs a good, courageous
attorney who is willing to confront the U.S. government with
the evidence presented here, showing that she is sane, was
seeking to save lives, and has been imprisoned in an attempt
to cover up genocidal mass murder.

I completely agree with you Naveed. I have been saying that for a very long time.

Just saying things like, Oh, do you feel Bush slithered into office and has been able to get away with the multitude of crimes and lies to get us into war and the suppression of the constitution all on his own, with no help at all? When you look at everything he has gotten away with, doesn’t it look more like he is just a figure head? Come on, few of us think he is very smart, but if you look at the agenda of the Blindenburgs, the Tri Lateral Organization, the World Trade Organization, the PNAC, just look at their goals, hasn’t he been doing a magnificent job of accomplishing those goals while we laugh at him for being stupid, he is right on schedule?

Just thinking that he is stupid, just thinking that he is the one responsible, the head of this, is the ultimate in smoke and mirrors. He is the current host of the show, but without the complete help of the MSM (Main Stream Media) the public would have lynched him on the evening of 9/11, along with Cheney and the Colonel that said he was just following orders when he ground all his planes capable of defending the eastern seaboard form enemies of the USA.

Who has benefited by his actions? Who isn’t screaming about his ineptitude, WHO is HAPPY with what he is doing. The answer to all those questions I sum up with… the Multi National Mega Corporations, no matter what other labels they might also fit under. Those who are bent on controlling the worlds governments though their economies are reaping mega profits and no oversight from our government and being helped along with wars, which are always profitable, which also suppress the economies of other countries that they haven’t had any control over.

Subject: Letter to USA Today concerning Loose Change article

Friends,

My response to USA Today's article on the Loose Change video:

Josh

Comments on Conspiracy Film Rewrites Sept 11 by Welch

Dear Mr Welch,
I appreciate your coverage of the video Loose Change which brings more truth to the 9/11 story then any media outlet has done to date. What our nations media has done, including yourself in this piece, is regurgitate what the power brokers tell you to write in Washington. There is not a shred of evidence to back up the claim that 19 arab hijackers did the deed that day.
I am not a young college kid. I am a 49 year old man, who has made his livelyhood turning raw data into information for my clients. It takes a lot of logical thinking in this business. It was not logical as I watched those planes fly into the WTC towers to blame it on 19 muslim hijackers as I know the mission and availability of NORAD as they watch our skies.
I found the logic I was looking for in Nafeez Ahmed's book "War on Freedom" as he sites over 600 different pieces of evidence to support the claim that the job was perpetrated by someone other than what the official story was claiming. In the first few days after 9/11 the media was telling some of the truth, then they backed off, as Fort Dettrick anthrax began spilling onto congress' desks.
You write: Most of what the film alleges is refuted by the evidence at hand. Anything not answered definitively by the government is interpreted by the film as proof of a coverup.
The government did not answer anything. They offered us no videos of the plane going into the Pentagon, even though a convenience store, a hotel, and the Virginia Dept of Transportation had videos not to mention the pentagon videos. These were all confiscated by the FBI within minutes of the event. WHY? Because the evidence on site dispels any notion that a 767 flew into that building. It was clearly a cruise missile (logic dictates this accuracy not brainwashing).
You write: There is also the claim that because jet fuel burns at up to 1,500 degrees and steel melts at 2,750 degrees, the World Trade Center's infrastructure could not have been brought down by the airliners. However, as reported by the Journal of the Minerals, Metals and Materials Society, steel loses 50% of its strength at 1,200 degrees, enough for a failure.
Please read Steven Jones peer reviewed article on the falsity of the pancake theory and how those buildings were brought down with controlled demolition thermite. The buildings fell at the speed of free fall - no pancake theory there. And talk about your mother of all lies - look no further than 9/11 commission head Zelikow talking about the building being composed of a hollow core shaft! What absurdity! The buildings were held up by 47 steel columns rising from 7 floors under ground to the tops of the buildings. No airplane fueled fire was going to weaken these buildings to drop precisely the way they did. Do you believe in fairy dust sir? And what of the liquid steel at the bottom of the rubble pile? Explained by Jones' piece. telltale signs of thermite use.
You should do some research on your own. Read David Ray Griffin, Nafeez Ahmed, Michael Ruppert, and countless others who have documented how , why and when this "terrorist" event occurred. Because until you see the light of day you will continue to support terrorism the world over by not telling the truth.
Thank you,

Some might say that this is off topic, But if one looks deep enough into
the bigger picture, One will find that it is all holistically connected.

FDA tyranny and the censorship of cherry health facts (opinion)

In the past, I jokingly said that broccoli might someday be banned as soon
as the public begins to learn about the potent anti-cancer chemicals found
in
the vegetable. That’s because, as I jested, the FDA wouldn’t want people
treating their own cancer with the anti-cancer medicines found in
cruciferous
vegetables. But it seems that my joke wasn’t so funny after all, because
the FDA
is now threatening cherry growers with raids to confiscate their cherries,
haul them into court, and put them out of business for doing one simple
thing
that _the FDA_ ( http://www.webseed.com/the_FDA.html) cannot stand to
allow:
The distribution of scientific information describing the _health benefits_
( http://www.webseed.com/health_benefits.html) of cherries.

On October 17, 2005, the FDA sent warning letters to 29 companies that
market
_cherries_ ( http://www.webseed.com/cherries.html) . In these letters, the
FDA threatened these companies with legal action and told them they had to
remove the scientific information on their websites that described the
health
benefits of the natural medicines found in cherries, such as the
anthocyanins
that reduce _inflammation_ ( http://www.webseed.com/inflammation.html) for
arthritis sufferers. According to the warped FDA logic that now seems to be
standard, when cherry growers post scientific information about the health
benefits of their cherries, they magically transform their cherries into
drugs and
therefore, as drugs, they must have FDA approval in order to sell them in
the
United States. _Continued........_ (

Our future if we do not control immigration

Did we not notice what happened to the Indians because they did not control immigration?
If you woke up tonight with a gun at your head,
you would agree that burglary should be illegal.
So is illegal immigration.
Those who were born here of parents who were citizens,
are our citizens.
The fact that our ancestors were immigrants is irrelevant when discussing the invasion that is now taking place.
THE QUESTION IS Do WE keep criminals out of our own home?

Did you see the photos of the demonstrators?
The signs said things like this:

"We did not cross the border.
The border crossed us"

"This is our land. Gringos should leave"

"All Europeans who came here since 1492 were illegal"

They flew Mexican flags and did the national anthem in Spanish.
Did your ancestors try to change our language?

Do a google search on "Atzlan". In case you do not want to bother,
I will tell you that "Atzlan" is the name of the new country,
that they plan to form after they take the south west away from the "gringos".

When will the bloodshed stop in Israel?
What is it like in South Africa now?
Do we want the same thing here?

If the number of illegal immigrants,
that we have now,
are having boycotts, demonstrations, demanding "rights", and claiming to own this country,
THEN WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF WE DO NOT STOP MORE FROM COMING IN??????
If they have it so bad here, why are they coming in droves?
If they have it so bad here, why don't they go back?

What we are seeing now is IMPORTED CLASS STRUGGLE.
To understand what happens to a nation that becomes engulfed in CLASS STRUGGLE
read the Communist Manifesto.
Their demonstrations and boycotts were on May First.
May First is a communist holiday.

The FTAA would open our borders totally

Remember one thing friend. Joseph McCarthy failed through falsely crying
wolf and screaming the sky is falling. Red bating immigrants is a cheap shot and
a poor diversion from this current failed government. If you want to point
the alarm finger then do America a favor and focus on the false flag 9-11 and
the endless war debacle. There are immigrant soldiers fighting and dying in
our own military in the middle east for crying out loud. Or, do you like being

OFFICE OF THE CLERK
WASHINGTON D.C. 20543-0001

Mr. Troy D. Cahill

RE: Pastorcik v IBC C-164467
Pastorcik v Interstate Brands Corp 04-45814
Carroll/Pastorcik v Todino/Dowling 06-CV051
PEOPLE v Indiana

Dear Mr. Cahill,

Mr. Cahill, sir, this is a follow up {02-09-06} correspondence to our original and initial correspondence of {01-26-06}. Included with this correspondence are (2) copies of our original request for EMERGENCY ESTOPPEL {since amended with exhibits etc.} and a copy of a suit that we are forced to file in United States District Court in Hammond, Indiana today and will be mailed out certified USPS {see Carroll/Pastorcik v Dowling/Todino} with this mailing.

Our situation with the Judiciary entities here in the state of Indiana {and bankruptcy court of Kansas} has become such that one Richard E. Carroll {associate, co-counsel, paralegal, advisor and jokingly the chief cook and bottle washer to Mr. Pastorcik in this battle} is now threatened with prosecution {by Indiana and KC Court} and assumed jailing for simply attempting to help Mr. Pastorcik. The Worker's Compensation Board {Mr. James Dowling} has gone as far as to initiate ex-parte meetings with the opposing corporate counsel with no legitimate notification to "Pastorcik v." of their intentions.

During these exparte meetings, the Worker's Compensation Board has taken the stance that Mr. Carroll is not to be allowed any function of assistance to Mr. Pastorcik {since Mr. Carroll is not "licensed"} whereby they do not recognize anything typed by him and in writing they again threatened to prosecute {via Lake County prosecutor this time} and presumably want to jail Mr. Carroll for simply typing and using his god-given skills to formulate proper docketing. Mr. Carroll has yet to even attempt to speak in court {un-constitutional tribunal} to the Workers Compensation Board.

This is a pre-emptive attempt at completely destroying Mr. Carroll and myself {Pastorcik} in my quest for personal justice which has become, now knowing what I have learned, a quest to return the Constitutional Rights of the populace of the State of Indiana {and more than likely other states in the nation} to their rightful condition of being granted open access and leave of the court system by the Courts of the nation to the People of this Nation.

It is our sincerest belief that if the States are allowed to abrogate the 7th Amendment in this manner and destroy the rights of the People through legislation nullifying the 7th then all other rights shall eventually fall for it is without doubt, as reading Thomas Jefferson teaches one, that the founding fathers intended the 7th to be the "protector" of all the other Amendments and freedom can only prevail in a nation where the citizenry has the right to petition an out of control government to stand before a jury of the People. Thomas Jefferson thought this so important he addressed it in his inaugural address. It should be noted that historically there were forces in this nation {identical to the corporate interests of today} that wanted Jefferson dead for this power {jury trial and petition power} that he left for the utilization of the People.

It is with this in mind that we beg of the honorable Court that they grant minimum leave of oral argument whereby we can prove mathematically that the State of Indiana has turned the legal process of civil litigation by an injured employee into a situation whereby a litigant can never win. Any, of what they call "settlement", turns into a mathematical loss for a citizen/employee {that is unless the employee is killed then the loss is born by his family if they try to sue}.This cannot be in the United States and is contrary to centuries of common law jurisprudence and is exactly what the power-interests that hated Thomas Jefferson so sought and seem to finally be getting. Insidiously this begins by convincing the populace that diminishing the power of the jury is a good thing through so-called settlements caps that juries presume and are instructed that they cannot override, the next step is then denial of jury trial rights to certain individuals {as Mr. Pastorcik} this will eventually lead to denial of jury rights {through ex post facto law} to all citizens which will then lead to the entire destruction of the Bill of Rights since the People will have no way to rule on abrogations by the state entity.

Mr. Carroll has tape recorded persons from the Workers Compensation Board stating emphatically that {Pastorcik} will never be given a jury trial, and Mr. Carroll has been threatened with State prosecution by the venues of Indiana Workers Compensation Board {in writing} , Federal Bankruptcy Court {verbal on tape}, and by other "bar-licensed" attorneys {verbal and in writing}. It is now at the point in this battle for the rights of the citizenry that we are left with last choice of filing personal Federal suits against those that have conspired ex-parte to deny the rights of Pastorcik {and others in the very same situation} and to jail Mr. Carroll and we have extended our battle to the populace at large and have begun all necessary steps to file a class action suit against the State of Indiana whereby the average citizens are now signing affidavits {individual petitions} demanding that our rights be returned to us and that those involving themselves be compensated as a whole for individual damages and set asides for future legal costs be established to protect the 7th Amendment.

As I write this I am hearing on the radio a commercial obviously by corporate interests, though they name themselves "paid for by the People for", concerning limiting {capping} jury awards in the state of Illinois. To limit the power of the jury is to limit the power of the People and will eventually lead to their destruction.

I must ask at this point, presuming that most or all of the members of the honorable Supreme Court and their staffs are members of the "bar": "Do these "bar" individuals that are behind the abrogation of the 7th Amendment and "capping" compensatory awards not realize that they are committing suicide?"

This statement is not intended for members of the Supreme Court or those entrusted with it's operation since this matter has never come before the Court.

By committing suicide we mean that if all actions in court are capped then why would anyone need a lawyer to argue a civil case? If there is no possibility of just compensation {as is the case in the Workers' Comp of this nation} why should one even bother filing suit? Many People are coming to realize this {too often too late} but when full knowledge comes about to the people that litigating is pointless then what purpose will lawyers serve? We have spoken with a number of attorneys that realize this but fear the loss of their personal standing {ownership of a "bar" card} to enjoin themselves to this struggle.

Nullification of jury power and limits {"caps"} on settlements takes away the need for attorneys and eventually this will lead to feudalism whereby only the strongest survive in a society which exists only by that which is granted by the government through distribution to the powerful then subsequent partial distribution of stipend to the masses. This is madness and suicide by the members of the "bar".

At this point we would like to point out for the record that through our research we have come to find that access to the Court was never limited in this nation to those holding an ABA "bar" card until the year 1921 and you can see where this has led us now. Certain interests now within the system of "bar" brotherhood are now trying to remove any assistants or adversarial persons that would help a pro se litigant. Are we not to assume soon that it will be a requirement to have a "bar" card to sign one's own name or enter the lavatory in Court as they have extended this private-club-membership idea onto co-counsel/paralegal outside of the courthouse.

This escalation of restriction is exactly what we fear will happen to the Bill of Rights as has happened to the 7th Amendment and the Peoples' right to due process.

In closing we would state the following which is a variant of a case {if memory serves Mapp v Ohio} and a Presidential speech {Lincoln?} that combined succinctly state the basis for a free society of/for/by the People:

"Frequent Recurrences to the fundamental principles of Civil Government and Constitutional Law as based in the Common Law are necessary to preserve the blessings of Liberty. These blessings cannot endure unless the People Recognize their corresponding Individual and Collective Obligations and Responsibilities and act upon same in a nonviolent manner with due diligence and fore thought. When the entity "State" legislates away the Rights of the One the "State" has thus nullified and abrogated the Rights of all. We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal in the eyes of this nation and when one enjoys a blessing all enjoy a blessing and conversely when one suffers at the almighty power of the "State" all will eventually suffer the same fate, YOU are the ONE". {proselandshark}

Please hear our pleas.

With all due Respect to the Honorable Supreme Court we remain but mere mortals with faith in the freedom and future of this nation and ask of nothing more than humble consideration.

Sincerely,

Richard E. Carroll { aka proselandshark @yahoo.com }

and

Steven Pastorcik { aka nightcrawler126 @msn.com }

enc: (2) two copies of original request for Estoppel

{previous correspondence of 01-26-06 begins here}

Possibly I was amiss and not clear in my filing, this request for Emergency Estoppel is filed pursuant to Article III and the 7th Amendment (Bill of Rights) to the U. S. Constitution.

Pastorcik has been denied his right to jury trial & due process by the entities:

(a) Indiana State Court system.

(b) Indiana Workers Comp System (administration claiming to be a court of law that supercedes the U. S. Constitution and we have them on tape recorder stating so, that "legislative law takes precedence over the U. S. Constitution."

(c)Federal Bankruptcy Court Kansas City has refused due process and jury trial 7th Amendment and assistance of counsel (see request and briefs).

In all instances legislative law has been indicated to be above the Constitution. In the case of the Federal Bankruptcy Court we find that presently one Anna Nicole Smith has been given the opportunity to petition for redress (1stAmendment) we seek only equitable treatment under the law(Constitution).

This request, is in our opinion absolutely necessary to the health and future of the 7th Amendment, this nation and Article III of the United States Constitution and must be reviewed by the Justices. Sufficient copies have been provided and proper fees paid in Ks.City,Mo. Case 04-45814.

In Marbury v Madison is was found that the Supreme Court has the power and the responsibility to review any and all cases that should arise from legislative law abrogating the Constitution itself and to declare void any statute that violates said U. S. Constitution. This is an exact case in nature.

This is unequivocally the case in this instance whereby legislative law/bodies have denied the rights guaranteed by the 7th Amendment and Article III. Also Article III bears out the need for the review of this case whereby it states:

"The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in law and equity, arising under this Constitution......Trial.....shall be by jury, and such trial shall be held in the State where said Crimes"......{or civil matter see 7th Amendment}...

Further the Constitution in Article VI states: "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof..........shall be the {SUPREME LAW OF THE LAND}; any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the {CONTRARY NOTWITHSTANDING}" {emphasis added}.

No legislative law can be "withstanding" (contrary to) to the United States Constitution and Plaintiff Pastorcik has been harmed repeatedly for four plus years through repeated denial of his right to a jury trial (and due process) pursuant to the 7th Amendment.

Now this same denial has come to pass in the Federal Bankruptcy Court of Kansas City Mo. by one Judge Jerry Venters {SEE BRIEF SUPPLIED}.

Plaintiff (Pastorcik) has sought ALL remedy of law (as has Anna Nicole Smith) and is left with no recourse but:
EMERGENCY ESTOPPEL AND REVIEW OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL ISSUE OF WHETHER STATE LEGISLATIVE LAW DOES ABROGATE THE 7TH AMENDMENT AND ARTICLE III OF U.S. CONSTITUTION,, BY THE JUSTICES OF THE SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
Citizen/Plaintiff Pastorcik has no recourse of other action.

Respectfully,

This from the Thinkprogress blog

quote:

President Bush, 4/28/06:

I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English, and I think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English.

But in his book American Dynasty, Kevin Phillips notes that during Bushs first presidential campaign, he would often sing the national anthem in Spanish. From pg. 142:

When visiting cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, or Philadelphia, in pivotal states, he would drop in at Hispanic festivals and parties, sometimes joining in singing The Star-Spangled Banner in Spanish, sometimes partying with a Viva Bush mariachi band flown in from Texas.

Yes, Avanu, everyone is aware that the recording has some extra lyrics adding that protest the US immigration laws. But Bush wasn't asked about that song. He was asked about singing the national anthem in Spanish period.

Sadly, JP, I don't think most Americans are going to do anything until their comfortable lives are upset, so I think we're limited right now to continuing this massive education project, which will insure that the people are on our side when the shit hits the fan. Keep the CD burner cranking.
After the economy collapses (and it definitely will collapse) and people don't have jobs to keep them busy, or food to keep them sated, they'll be a lot quicker to show some dissent, and many others will begin to ask questions of thier government that has ruined everything.
It seems to me that the majority of Americans lack the foresight that people in the truth movement have, because as long as they have food in the fridge and endless idiocy delivered by the television, they'll avoid politics until it hurts them to continue doing so.
There may also be other events that get people moving, like mass gun or property confiscations, the rounding up of dissidents, but as long as they're comfortable, they probably won't do much, and I can't blame them, because there's little they can do that will be effective short of revolution. I for one don't want to be fighting in the streets until it's necessary, and the traditional avenues of peaceful dissent (protests, writing to media and congress) are futile, because they only appeal to people who are part of the conspiracy.
We have to keep educating people on a grass-roots level, and especially exposing the lies of the media to those who trust it, so more people will demand that free speech, and a free internet are preserved.
Stock up on dried rice and beans, and other food that doesn't require refrigeration. Buy guns, and stockpile ammo, and educate fellow Americans. I hate to say it, but I don't think freedom will ever be restored peacefully. The neo-cons have to either continue crushing us, or sacrifice themselves, and I don't expect them to choose the latter option.
Also: regarding pandemics, I just dicovered an interesting piece of information. According to Dr. Lorraine Day, (not a quack doctor - but cheif of orthopaedic surgery at SF General for 15 yrs, and also a professor of medicine) She claims that the only people who died from the 1918 Spanish flu were people who received the vaccinations. Stay away from ALL vaccines -- that's where the illnesses come from. You should really listen to her interview with Darryl Bradford Smith (I'll admit that he can be an ass, but he has excellent guests)
http://iamthewitness.com/DarylBradfordSmith_Lorraine-Day-AIDS-Horowitz.html
Eye-opening interview about the medical profession and politics. You can easily skip Smith's intro and only download the part of the show where she explains things (good feature of these interviews is that you can usually exclude smith's rants from the download, and only listen to what's important.)

That's why I used the word perhaps, like wishful thinking. I wouldn't do anything that would cause anyone to get in trouble. It would be ironic, mass murderers get bolder with pandemics, 911 truth patriot buzzed laying stickers.

(This next part should be its own subject(s), but could be useful as discussion topics by individuals. Everyone's perspectives are read.)
The big question, when do we break out? or are we on education only mode? how can we do this work more effectively?

What does success look like? indictments, arrests, trial and punishment for the perps? What about the cover-uppers and press-ho's, charge them as accessories to mass murder?

Is this enough?
Is it time to change the whole American system, using 911 as the rallying call?

Re: [911TruthAction] Universal's Flight 93 'Hijacked' By Truth Seekers
I wouldn't advise it, JP -- the security cameras will catch you and you'll have to buy 'em all. Could you think of anything worse than owning 50 copiess of it?
You are right about them showing signs of desperation, however. It's too late for them. The truth is spreading across the nation like wild-fire. The trauma of the attacks has worn off, and most people have been exposed to the fact of US gov't complicity. There're people who are still afraid to face the truth (the denial crowd), but even they will have to accept it as our numbers grow. 9-11 truth is becoming mainstream conversation - people are getting hit with it from multiple sources (at least in NYC)

JP Liggett <JP@JPLiggett.com> wrote:
IMHO, universal's censorship in real time, and releasing the DVD simultaneously (saw it for sale this weekend in retail) seems so desperate, it going to help expose the truth even more. And all the cover-up conspirators will know we've got their fingerprints, for the 911 truth trials to come. We should use F93 in every means possible to spread the word, perhaps some little stickers on the F93 dvd boxes would be a nice touch.

Administration Is Singing More Than One Tune on Spanish Version of Anthem

By Peter Baker
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, May 3, 2006; Page A06

President Bush declared last week that the national anthem should be sung in English not Spanish, but he evidently never told his own government or campaign organizations.

The State Department posts four Spanish versions of "The Star-Spangled Banner" on its Web site, and accounts from the 2000 election suggest that the song was at times performed in Spanish at Bush campaign events. Critics even turned up one reference to Bush himself singing the anthem in Spanish on the trail, but there was no confirmation.

The furor over a newly released Spanish version of the anthem has underscored once again the power of symbols in American politics. At a time when the immigration debate in Washington has divided Republicans on Capitol Hill, drawn hundreds of thousands of protesters into the streets and triggered a nationwide boycott, all sides are scrutinizing the words and records of the president and other politicians for signs of inconsistency.

Bush waded into the matter last week after British producer Adam Kidron issued " Nuestro Himno ." Responding to a reporter, Bush said: "I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English. And I think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English, and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English."

But Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice chose not to repeat his formulation Sunday on CBS's "Face the Nation." "I've heard the national anthem done in rap versions, country versions, classical versions," she said. "The individualization of the American national anthem is quite underway."

And there seems little evidence that the matter had concerned Bush before. The Center for American Progress, a liberal group run by Clinton chief of staff John D. Podesta, posted on its blog a reference to Bush singing the anthem in Spanish. In his book, "American Dynasty," Kevin Phillips wrote that Bush "would drop in at Hispanic festivals and parties, sometimes joining in singing 'The Star-Spangled Banner' in Spanish, sometimes partying with a 'Viva Bush' mariachi band flown in from Texas."

White House spokesmen and former campaign operatives said they could not recall whether that happened, though given the level of Bush's Spanish proficiency, they seemed dubious.

"Honestly, I don't remember him ever singing the national anthem in Spanish," said Leonard Rodriguez, who was national director of Hispanic Coalition for Bush/Cheney 2000. "I can't see any of his advisers recommending it." But he added: "They may have played it. That's certainly in the realm of possibility." And Rodriguez said he does not recall Bush ever objecting to it.

The Center for American Progress also cited a news report that the anthem was performed in Spanish by singer Jon Secada at a 2001 inauguration event, but Bush aides and most news accounts said he actually sang a Spanish version of "America the Beautiful."

Secada later performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the White House, in May 2001, but in English, according to the White House.

I have to defer judgement on this issue, because I simply don't know much about the Jesuits. Smith claims they're a dying breed, most of whom get around with walkers, and are incapable of taking over their nursing home, let alone the world, but that's Smith, and exactly what he would say if he were trying to conceal some type of Jesuit conspiracy.
Opinion-wise, I can only move toward what's supported by evidence, and I see the zionists holding all the cards. If there is Jesuit involvement, it's also possible that zionists have infiltrated the Jesuits, as they've infiltrated every other group.

We need to not only expose that 9-11 was an inside job, but the entire hidden power structure that thrives on killing us, and will continue to do so until they're exposed. Zionism is undoubtably the world's cancer, but we should be wise enough to remove it surgically, and precisely. Although there will be some solidarity amoung some Jews, the vast majority of American Jews know nothing of Zionist plans, and can be counted on to do the right thing. Make sure we proceed with no hint of racism, and their solidarity will

Dear Janos,

What I say -- not the author that I forward -- is that there is an astoundingly powerful subgroup of Zionists who think so lowly of non-Jewish people (Hindus, Americans, Palestinians, etc.) that they have conducted false-flag terrorism (including the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in New York and Washington) in order to instigate genocidal war in the Mideast and Central Asia. I point to a subset of Zionists. There is also a larger sub-group of Jews (including both Zionists and Non-Zionists) who realize that September 11, 2001 was a mass-murder provocateur black-op yet who, because of the solidarity of Jew for Jew, feel compelled to cover-up for the Zionist perpetrators despite the latter having committed mass-murder terror provoking genocidal wars and a wave of police state totalitarianism around the world.

There are many Jews -- I know several -- who would be glad to endorse what I have written above.

I personally believe -- as all true liberals believe -- that crime and guilt map to the individual not to the collective entity. Having said that I must add that criminals operate within groups and commit crimes on behalf of groups. In other words the powerful deviant sub-group of Zionists have killed for Zionism as other deviant individuals murder for love -- this does not mean that Zionism is guilty any more than murder for a lover means that love is guilty. Zionist is a set of traditions -- cultural practices -- that are transmitted within the family and by the rabbis and others -- there are exclusive -- Jewish supremacist teachings in the Talmud for example -- that promote "black ops" against the gentiles to further Jewish/Zionist interests.

It is a fact that the attacks in New York and Washington (called 9-11 in the US) were committed with the cooperation (perpetration) of leadership in the White House and Pentagon -- this leadership is to a man Zionist and mostly Jewish. The White House and Pentagon are not staffed by Saudis -- or hadn't you heard?

That is what I am saying.

Most sincerely,

Dick Eastman

comfortable? Are the sheeple just "going along with the flow", keeping

pay too much in taxes, fees and bank interest? Lots of people are ready

This is already law in many states. The US civilian medical corps have
been organized since 2002, and appear to have regular training exercises.

education of 911 is the only current strategy...... I feel we need to
deliver a call to action as part of the education, symbolically of course,
nonviolent Ghandi methods. perhaps on the 11th of every month to start.
stocking up on food is one action, but will this help the "next seven
generations"? we are responsible for them today. Today's young generation
know they are getting a bad deal. Imagine your kids looking at you and
saying why didn't you fight the beast.

>don't want to be Fighting in the streets until its necessary..... we are
under attack today, from multiple angles. wiretapping, patriot, health
powers, taxes, oil, pollution, toxic chemicals in our food, medical cost
rip-off's, insurance premium rip-offs. How much will people take? if we
can present 911 as the starting point of change in America, to address
these ills, we can broaden the appeal and acceptance of the need for
radical change.

Sadly, JP, I don't think most Americans are going to do anything until
their comfortable lives are upset, so I think we're limited right now to
continuing this massive education project, which will insure that the
people are on our side when the shit hits the fan. Keep the CD burner
cranking.
After the economy collapses (and it definitely will collapse) and people
don't have jobs to keep them busy, or food to keep them sated, they'll be a
lot quicker to show some dissent, and many others will begin to ask
questions of thier government that has ruined everything.
It seems to me that the majority of Americans lack the foresight that
people in the truth movement have, because as long as they have food in the
fridge and endless idiocy delivered by the television, they'll avoid
politics until it hurts them to continue doing so.
There may also be other events that get people moving, like mass gun or
property confiscations, the rounding up of dissidents, but as long as
they're comfortable, they probably won't do much, and I can't blame them,
because there's little they can do that will be effective short of
revolution. I for one don't want to be fighting in the streets until it's
necessary, and the traditional avenues of peaceful dissent (protests,
writing to media and congress) are futile, because they only appeal to
people who are part of the conspiracy.
We have to keep educating people on a grass-roots level, and especially
exposing the lies of the media to those who trust it, so more people will
demand that free speech, and a free internet are preserved.
Stock up on dried rice and beans, and other food that doesn't require
refrigeration. Buy guns, and stockpile ammo, and educate fellow Americans.
I hate to say it, but I don't think freedom will ever be restored
peacefully. The neo-cons have to either continue crushing us, or sacrifice
themselves, and I don't expect them to choose the latter option.
Also: regarding pandemics, I just dicovered an interesting piece of
information. According to Dr. Lorraine Day, (not a quack doctor - but cheif
of orthopaedic surgery at SF General for 15 yrs, and also a professor of
medicine) She claims that the only people who died from the 1918 Spanish
flu were people who received the vaccinations. Stay away from ALL vaccines
-- that's where the illnesses come from. You should really listen to her
interview with Darryl Bradford Smith (I'll admit thatt he can be an ass,
but he has excellent guests)
http://iamthewitness.com/DarylBradfordSmith_Lorraine-Day-AIDS-Horowitz.html
Eye-opening interview about the medical profession and politics. You can
easily skip Smith's intro and only download the part of the show where she
explains things (good feature of these interviews is that you can usually
exclude smith's rants from the download, and only listen to what's
important.)

That's why I used the word perhaps, like wishful thinking. I wouldn't do
anything that would cause anyone to get in trouble. It would be ironic,
mass murderers get bolder with pandemics, 911 truth patriot buzzed laying
stickers.

(This next part should be its own subject(s), but could be useful as
discussion topics by individuals. Everyone's perspectives are read.)
The big question, when do we break out? or are we on education only mode?
how can we do this work more effectively?

What does success look like? indictments, arrests, trial and punishment
for the perps? What about the cover-uppers and press-ho's, charge them as
accessories to mass murder?

Is this enough?
Is it time to change the whole American system, using 911 as the rallying
call?

I wouldn't advise it, JP -- the security cameras will catch you and you'll
have to buy 'em all. Could you think of anything worse than owning 50
copiesss of it?
You are right about them showing signs of desperation, however. It's too
late for them. The truth is spreading across the nation like wild-fire.
The trauma of the attacks has worn off, and most people have been exposed
to the fact of US gov't complicity. There're people who are still afraid
to face the truth (the denial crowd), but even they will have to accept it
as our numbers grow. 9-11 truth is becoming mainstream conversation -
people are getting hit with it from multiple sources (at least in NYC)

the word, perhaps some little stickers on the F93 dvd boxes would be a
nice touch.

Planet Earth As Weapon and Target

Beginning with the use of nuclear energy for military purposes, mankind has entered a seemingly endless race to harness the natural forces within the planet, in the atmosphere and in space for waging war. The earth is already gravely affected by many of those secret research and testing programmes leading to unpredictable environmental and epidemiological consequences.

LEUREN MORET
The term exotic weapons systems includes weapons designed to damage space or natural ecosystems (such as the ionosphere and upper atmosphere) or climate, weather, and tectonic systems with the purpose of inducing damage or destruction upon a target population or region on earth or in space.

CLIMATE MODIFICATION

By 1965 research on climate change was pioneered by three research groups: the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory, UCLAs Department of Meteorology, and the National Center for Atmospheric Research. Between 1965 and 1975, interest increased and proliferated new studies, the main ones being the RAND Corporation (Santa Monica, CA) funded by the US Air Force, Goddard Institute for Space Studies (New York, NY) funded by NASA, and the Australian Numerical Meteorological Research Centre (Melbourne, Australia). It is interesting that studies in climate modification funded by the military surfaced in this period. In order to determine whether or not it was possible, reasearch had to be done on climate variations under natural conditions. During this same period large projects to study climate change from the ice record began in Antarctica (1973) and Greenland (1977). Projects that seem innocuous on their own, when put together and integrated, had a very different purpose.

Early modeling studies focused on coupled atmosphere-ocean models, and spectral transform techniques. Research on the influence of carbon dioxide on climate under natural conditions used information from the ice record. Later, research began on the influence of man on climate change, or inadvertent climate modification from pollution-induced changes in climate, ocean ecology, or in large terrestrial ecosystems. By the 1970s environmentalists introduced stratospheric ozone depletion, acid rain, and upper-atmosphere pollution from supersonic planes as climatic concerns.

Two areas of instabilities can be used to modify the climateenergy coming from the Sun, or energy escaping from the atmosphere of the earth. Huge manmade energetic explosions high up in the atmosphere used to trigger instabilities, might be possible at some time in the future; in fact the Navy exploded 3 nuclear bombs in the Van Allen belt in 1958 under Project Argus and violently disrupted it. Modification of long-wave outgoing radiation, changes in the transparency of the earths atmosphere to radiated energy, or of terrestrial regions (desert, vegetation, water, ice) provide the most likely possibilities for human technogenic intervention. The military has long wanted to eliminate civilian participation in space programmes in order to gain full control.

The New World Order is being rolled out with exotic weapons that were developed collaboratively and secretly throughout the Cold War. The National Missile Defence fraud is being forced by the USA on unwilling countries around the world, at a cost of $1 trillion for the biggest corporate welfare project in world history.

Subject: Govindu: Review of Stigletz Globalization and It's Discontents

http://www.indiatogether.org/2003/jun/rvw-stiglitz.htm
Venu Govindu reviews Globalization and its Discontents, by Joseph
Stiglitz, the winner of the 2001 Nobel prize for economics.

June 2003 - It is curious to think that events this year might have
already overtaken raging controversies of very recent vintage. A decade
ago in the aftermath of the Gulf War, in his essay 'The Archaeology of
the Development Idea', Wolfgang Sachs presciently pointed out that "...
the 'development' concept loses its reassuring connotations for the
future: slowly it is being substituted by the concept of 'security' -
from the North's viewpoint, naturally". While the debate on
globalisation took on new meaning in Seattle, in the aftermath of the
brutal occupation of Iraq, one could argue that the phase of
globalisation as Western hegemony is over and Sachs's prediction has
come true - imperialism is back with a vengeance. Nevertheless,
globalisation has not disappeared with Baghdad being overrun and its
impacts continue to be felt. Globalisation and the nature of the
international institutions which implement 'its' policies are of
immense interest and ought to be scrutinised since they continue to
tremendously affect the lives of millions of people around the world.

Since the inauguration of a new phase of conservative politics and
increased American intervention in world affairs during the Reagan
years, the Bretton Woods triumvirate (i.e. IMF, World Bank and lately
the WTO) have had a steadily increasing role in the devastation of
ecologies and economies in the so-called Third World. In such a
context, it is hoped that to public institutions like the IMF, much
used to imperious ways and owing no accountability, Stiglitz brings
more than minor discomfiture when he states in his preface, "I have
written this book because while I was at the World Bank, I saw
firsthand the devastating effect that globalization can have on
developing countries, and especially the poor within these countries."

The bulk of the book is a closely argued indictment of the IMF for
multiple crimes from a man with a ring-side view of the eventful years
that saw the financial meltdown leading to the East Asia crisis of 1997
and the beggaring of Russia. After a short and not very insightful
perusal of the origins of the Bretton Woods institutions the author
delves into the heart of the major crises of capitalism in recent times
mentioned above and shows how the IMF shockingly mismanaged both. From
the vantage point of these spectacular failures Stiglitz goes on to
discuss the structural problems with global financial governance and
the manner in which its institutions are deeply complicit with the
agenda of the US Treasury Department and the carpetbaggers of Wall
Street.

Global capital and protests

The organisation and reach of global capital and its institutions is so
wide-reaching and complex today that most people who are affected by
them are scarcely able to comprehend the causal linkages which make
policy shifts in far-away capitals to manifest as serious problems in
their lives. However people in the poorer parts of the world have
intuitively understood the effects of such policy changes dictated by
the Washington Consensus, while their protests have been steadily
ignored.

But along with this greater pain inflicted on the Third World, a
clearer understanding has also emerged. This pain and understanding was
given a clear, visible form in the eyes of the entire world when the
protests against such institutionalised loot arrived at the American
doorstep in Seattle, Washington and elsewhere.

-VG
As Stiglitz repeatedly points out to the American audience he is
primarily writing for, the US Treasury has always seen the Bretton
Woods institutions as its own private turf, to use and manipulate to
further 'American' interests which are not necessarily those of the
American people but often that of American capital. This nexus runs
quite deep and in our context it is worth recalling that the erstwhile
American Ambassador to India, Frank Wisner was not above using
not-so-subtle threats of grave economic consequences if India did not
favour Enron during a very controversial phase of its tenure the
country. After his stint in New Delhi, Wisner went on to join the Board
of Directors of - you've guessed it - Enron!

Throughout the book Stiglitz consistently draws attention to the fact
that the IMF is working in a manner that directly contradicts its
original mandate of providing economic stability in the times of
crises. He also points out the consistent gap between rhetoric and
reality and in a larger sense shows how the global public institutions
instead of being accountable to the societies they affect often behave
as the tools of American capital. In a carefully argued position, he
also points out that by forcing nations receiving its money to adopt
policies like capital market liberalisation and massive privatisation
without bothering to put a social security net and a market regulatory
mechanism in place, the IMF is doing immense damage and no good.
Moreover its orthodox positions on structural adjustment and
laissez-faire where government is intrinsically bad and that the market
would solve its own problems is also theoretically incorrect in the
light of recent advances in economic understanding.

Having pioneered a shift in the policy of keeping the deficit down at
all costs, Keynes had originally intended the IMF as an antidote to
global depression by controlling the market with an eye to generating
employment and as a short-term manager to prevent a crisis (like the
one in East Asia) from coming to a boil. As a means of promoting
economic stability Keynes had advocated an expansionary fiscal policy
that would help keep the crucial economic indicators of unemployment
and inflation within reasonable limits. But instead the IMF
consistently violates its original mandate of providing stability by
pushing for the complete removal of controls and demanding massive and
rapid privatisation. Stiglitz believes that "... capital accounts
liberalization was the single most important factor leading to the
crisis". But he is also utterly contemptuous of the IMF's broader
policies; in discussing the extended period of rapid growth prior to
the 1997 crisis (dubbed the East Asian Miracle), he says that "The
countries had been successful not only in spite of the fact that they
had not followed most of the dictates of the Washington Consensus, but
because they had not." (emphasis in original).

Stiglitz explains at length the process of the contagion of recession,
the flight of capital and the return of the very same 'hot money' later
to make a killing when the local currency was weak. Even the huge
bailout packages only helped the large American banks that made the bad
loans, to make a tidy profit. The countries that followed the IMF's
prescriptions suffered deeply (leading to riots in Indonesia where
people saw their savings and jobs wiped out at the same time) but the
countries which managed to contain the worst aspects of the crisis and
made a quicker recovery are precisely those that ignored the IMF's
advice and even went against it. In the face of all evidence pointing
to the failure of such measures to ensure stability and a recovery from
the depression that countries like South Korea, Thailand and Malaysia
had sunk into, the IMF variedly blamed it on the governments and "crony
capitalism" and demanded even faster privatisation. It was as if truth
and reality were meaningless in the face of IMF's fundamentalist
position that the market could never be wrong.

Colours of technology

It is rarely recognised that the forced liberalisation of capital
markets the world over is made possible only with the development of
vast electronic communications networks once again demonstrating that
technology is not neutral and value-free but is deeply imbued with the
colours of the political economy within which it is developed.

-VG
By Stiglitz's reckoning, the other major mess that is of the IMF's
making is the failure of its "shock therapy" advocated for countries of
the erstwhile Soviet Union, resulting in the rapid development of a
mafia-like oligarchy in Russia. The IMF's role as a strict martinet
combined with the global contraction in demand due to the East Asian
crisis meant that Russia was also vulnerable to the spreading contagion
of economic crises. But instead of handling this by trying to increase
demand within the Russian economy, the IMF as elsewhere pushed for
artificially maintaining the exchange rate and keeping inflation down -
orthodox positions that are being deeply questioned by many economists
today. All this did not prevent a major catastrophe but merely
postponed its inception, thereby deepening the problem. It was thus
that Russia was rapidly converted from a major world power into a
third-rate economy.

In such a fluid situation, with no regulatory mechanisms in place, a
ruthless mafia economy emerged in Russia and as elsewhere IMF's bailout
packages just resulted in the money lent taking flight immediately into
the safe havens of the US stock market or off-shore banks; when
privatization takes place rapidly with no regulating mechanisms in
place it only leads to asset stripping since one could make a quicker
buck this way instead of investing and creating goods and assets in an
extremely uncertain economy. In Russia, it also led to faking
privatisation where government assets (factories etc.) were held as
collateral against loans from private banks and then the government
conveniently defaulted allowing its friends who owned the private banks
to take-over the assets. Given the highly illegal nature of the whole
deal, the new owner was not interested in retaining his ill-gotten
wealth in Russia but spirited it out of the country. Amidst all this,
the decision to bailout and fatten Yeltsin's cronies was based on the
political judgment of the Clinton administration and not on economic
sense.

Stiglitz also clearly states that the textbook economic models, by
themselves simplistic are even more flawed in dealing with 'dynamic'
situations, i.e. they completely fail to account for events in
economies making major transitions, like Russia's experience of moving
from communism to a market-based economy. The IMF's insistence on
capital market liberalisation (come what may) and curbing the deficit
etc. contributes to a contractionary fiscal policy, the opposite of an
expansionist policy advocated by economists for over 60 years and the
one that China followed effectively during the Asian crisis. For
Stiglitz, China's example of prudent management is instructive; it did
not follow the IMF's advice and paced and sequenced its economic
changes carefully before cautiously opening its market, thus avoiding
the many pitfalls that many Indian policy experts and investors are
asking our Government to ignore, all in the name of a "free market".

In all this, Stiglitz emphasises the unholy nexus between the IMF, the
US Treasury Department and Wall Street but fights shy of reading a
conspiracy into it. Instead he states, "I believe that there is a
simpler set of explanations - the IMF was not participating in a
conspiracy, but it was reflecting the interests and the ideology of the
Western financial community." But not only did the IMF's policies
devastate many economies and leave them vulnerable to more arm-twisting
(as Stiglitz himself diligently catalogs), it also lead to extreme
social strife due to the sudden loss of jobs as a result of massive
privatisation. As Stiglitz himself recognises, when such crises lead to
food riots and general social instability (as in Indonesia), the
economy is bound to suffer even more. These facts and that the IMF
consistently worked in tandem with the US Treasury and pushed for
untenable fiscal measures puts into doubt the very idea that there
wasn't a 'conspiracy' to do so. Claiming that the IMF was somehow
'reflecting' other people's ideology and interests is too naive an
explanation to be taken seriously.

Apart from a clearer perspective on why the IMF's policies were bound
to fail, it is also instructive for India to examine what Stiglitz has
to say with regard to the general debates on the opening and regulation
of international trade, privatisation, the role of Government and the
duplicity of the powerful. Stiglitz is not against the concept of "one
world", rather he wants an increasingly integrated world that is fairer
and more just; and wants a reworking of global institutions to reflect
this need for "decency and social justice" and also that both market
and government have a role to play. While he "... believe(s) that
globalisation - the removal of barriers to free trade and the closer
integration of national economies - can be a force for good and that it
has the potential to enrich everyone in the world, particularly the
poor" (an extremely doctrinaire and dubious view by itself), he is also
of the opinion that "the way globalization has been managed ... needs
to be radically rethought."

Privatization in India

With hardly a credible debate on the rationale and justification of
rapid disinvestment, some of the most profitable or strategically
important public sector undertakings are being privatised. Even in the
case of loss-making units, privatisation is being posed as the only
restructuring alternative, as a result of which private investors who
have done nothing to develop the infrastructure are allowed to step in
to reap the harvest of profits.

Apart from being undemocratic and lacking due process and
accountability, the relinquishment of Government control of significant
parts of core sectors like petroleum and electronic communications has
serious social implications, especially in our society where the huge
inequities necessarily means that the Government has a social role to
perform.

-VG
To take one example, with regard to privatisation, Stiglitz is of the
opinion that it is essential to have a regulatory mechanism in place
failing which privatisation would simply lead to a rapid flight of
resources and jobs. "Privatization needs to be part of a more
comprehensive program, which entails creating jobs in tandem with the
inevitable job destruction that privatization often entails.
Macroeconomic policies, including low interest rates, that help create
jobs, have to be put in place. Timing (and sequencing) is everything.
..." (emphasis in the original) - a sobering reminder that is
repeatedly violated in the Indian process of privatisation and
disinvestment.

Stiglitz's views on global trade are bold and strikingly honest,
"Today, few - apart from those with vested interests who benefit from
keeping out the goods produced by the poor countries - defend the
hypocrisy of pretending to help developing countries by forcing them to
open up their markets to the goods of the advanced industrial countries
while keeping their own markets protected, policies that make the rich
richer and the poor more impoverished - and increasingly angry."

Inspite of his belief in the ability of globalisation to do good,
Stiglitz's arguments and statements run quite close to those of
anti-globalisation activists; the reason being that both are looking at
the evidence on hand which is not a pretty sight to behold. However a
discussion of globalisation as a purely economic phenomenon to do with
markets and fiscal policy is misplaced and may even be misleading.

Current-day globalisation must be seen as a continuation of colonial
policies, albeit under altered conditions. Today, the enterprise of
spreading the gospel of free markets is predicated on the iron fist of
overwhelming American military power. The fact that there might be
political consensus (as is the case with most political parties in
India) in favour of the very same market-friendly policies does not in
any manner alter the fact that the steam-rolling of national economies
into a single pattern is backed up at the most fundamental level by the
threat and coercive power of military dominance. As an advocate for
freewheeling capitalism himself admits, "The hidden hand of the market
will never work without a hidden fist, McDonald's cannot flourish
without McDonnell Douglas. And the hidden fist that keeps the world
safe for Silicon Valley's technologies to flourish is called the U.S.
Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps." (Thomas Freidman, Lexus and
the Olive Tree).

In this account while Stiglitz leaves the WTO largely undiscussed, the
IMF is made out to be the evil twin to a World Bank that is becoming
more open, democratic and non-doctrinaire. Stiglitz's coyness in
spilling the beans on his former employer is quite misleading and gives
the impression that the Bank is fundamentally different and almost
humane in its approach. While perhaps one could argue that the World
Bank is less destructive compared to the IMF, I believe that is not
attributable to differences in policy and practice but in the sheer
difference of power in their spheres of influence. The impacts of
development projects are slow to accrue and often their worst impact is
felt in the poorest segment of a society (say, when you build a dam)
and invariably there is strong political consensus in that society for
such 'developmental projects' For example, while displacement without
adequate compensation has been ugly norm for dam-building in India
since the times of Bhakra, it is only with the Narmada protests has the
problem come to the fore in the public imagination.

In contrast, the sting of the IMF's ministrations is palpably immediate
as it sends a shock wave through the economy and within a very short
period of time, wreaks havoc. However, no one can deny that the
cumulative effects of the obsession with a certain notion of
development and often a wilful disregard for basic environmental norms
and human rights leads to the extreme privations of 'ecological
refugees' from the multitude of projects funded by the Bank. All of
this is lucidly, if painfully, laid out in Bruce Rich's ' Mortgaging
the Earth' and Catherine Caufield's 'Masters of Illusion'. Moreover,
today the World Bank is working closely with the IMF and the WTO for
greater synergy which does not bode well for the developing world. It
is also the case that the Bank itself has close linkages with the US
Treasury - as exemplified by the infamous doctoring of the World
Development Report by the US Treasury. Stiglitz mentions the Ravi
Kanbur report, but is surprisingly silent about how it was blatantly
manipulated.

Stiglitz's ability to be honest in his assessment and relatively free
of prejudice makes his critique invaluable and well-worth recommending
to all who are interested in the larger debates on liberalisation and
the process of 'reforms' which in India has become a byword for
shutting out all honest debate. The growth of the global capitalist
order has also led to an impoverishment of many societies already
reeling under multiple impacts of colonialism and the mendacity of
their own, new rulers. Moreover in almost all instances the bulk of the
benefits have gone to the richer segments of these societies thus
increasing the social gap leading to greater inequity and strife.
Consequently by his call for changes within, Stiglitz is like a
later-day Keynes, trying to reform capitalism so as to save it. And in
an increasingly uncertain global scenario with a single superpower
usurping to itself the role of judge, jury and hangman, Stiglitz's call
for a reform of global financial institutions from within sounds a bit
too naive, even plaintive. Ultimately, asking the powers-that-be to
reform themselves is too naive and unviable. History is testament that
the only way to do it is to force them to accept it. How this can be
done in an age of increasingly blatant American hegemony is the big
question that animates many minds today.

Whether global public financial institutions like the IMF, the World
Bank and WTO can be made more accountable to the people of the world
and be more responsive to their needs is a debatable question. And
short of a miracle (or a greater catastrophe overtaking us), the
protests and struggles against the depredations of global capital will
continue for the poor of the world have no other choice but to defend
themselves. Stiglitz's ability to be honest in his assessment and
relatively free of prejudice makes his critique invaluable and
well-worth recommending to all who are interested in the larger debates
on liberalisation and the process of 'reforms' which in India has
become a byword for shutting out all honest debate. Such a clear-eyed
perspective as offered by a leading economist is refreshing, welcome
and must surely add to the voice of activists and advocacy groups
around the world. For taking on the difficult task of looking within
and making an honest appraisal, Joseph Stiglitz must be congratulated
even if one cannot agree with all that he says.

Susan Lindauer -- Reporter Held Political Prisoner to Cover Up U.S.

The radio program is a
separate 8.6 MB file and can be downloaded from there.

http://cosmicpenguin.com/Lindauer/

She needs a good, courageous
attorney who is willing to confront the U.S. government with
the evidence presented here, showing that she is sane, was
seeking to save lives, and has been imprisoned in an attempt
to cover up genocidal mass murder

From: "Dick Eastman" olfriend@nwinfo.net
Date: Wed May 3, 2006 9:21am(PDT)
Subject: Madeline Albright says Clinton wrong about Sudan 1996 offer to extra

Remember, Madeleine Albright represented herself as a Catholic, only discovering she was Jewish AFTER the confirmation hearings for her position as Sec. of State. Her father was one of Stalin's Commissars. She is thought (by me) to have been "Mega" - the top Israeli cobntrolled infiltrator/spy/agent in the Clinton Administration. She is a Trotskyite Red with great fondness for the Maoist F.A.R.C. druglords of Columbia. -- Dick Eastman

Madeliene Albright: Bill Clinton 'Misstated' Bin Laden Offer
Newsmax

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright insisted Tuesday that Sudan never offered to round up Osama bin Laden and extradite him to the U.S. - saying President Clinton's claim to the contrary was "a misstatement."

Asked about Clinton's 2002 admission that six years earlier he had turned down Sudan's offer to extradite bin Laden because "he had commited no crime against America," Albright told Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes": "He was not [offered]. He was not."

"If you look at the people who were saying that, there were many people who were lobbying for Sudan," she claimed.

But in a Feb. 2002 speech to a New York business group, Mr. Clinton detailed the episode, explaining:

"We'd been hearing that the Sudanese wanted America to start dealing with them again. They released him. At the time, 1996, he had committed no crime against America so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him, though we knew he wanted to commit crimes against America."
Clinton recalled that he "pleaded with the Saudis to take him, 'cause they could have. But they thought it was a hot potato and they didn't and that's how he wound up in Afghanistan."

Asked why her old boss would make such a startling confession if it wasn't true, a flustered Albright told Sean Hannity: "Well, because there was movement. But believe me, if we had been offered Osama bin Laden then that offer would have been taken up."

The former top diplomat insisted that Clinton simply got it wrong, explaining: "What's been very hard is kind of a misstatement of a lot of facts on [the Sudanese offer]. Look - we worked very hard to try to deal with the terrorist issue. It was very different before 9/11."
