War, Never Been So Much Fun!
New video shows US troops laughing at slaughter and carnage

Paul Joseph Watson/Prison Planet.com
Introducing a brand new Spring blockbuster from the people who brought you Abu Ghraib. It's the Coalition of the Killing's new 'liberation' video and it's set to put Syriana and Brokeback Mountain to shame at the Oscars. Watch in delight as some unknown terrorists/insurgents/freedom fighters/Iraqis/women/children delete where necessary get indiscriminately maimed by war on terror inc. Sure, this is war but it's also a damn good laugh. "Hell yeah bitches," screams one psycho as he audibly orgasms as the scene of carnage before him. "I got all that shit on camera"...

Lethal AC-130 aircraft return to Iraq
Aljazeera.net
The US Air Force has begun moving heavily armed AC-130 aircraft - the lethal "flying gunships" of the Vietnam War - to a base in Iraq as commanders search for new tools to counter the Iraqi resistance, The Associated Press has learned. An AP reporter saw the first of the turboprop-driven aircraft after it landed at the airfield this week. Four are expected. The Iraq-based Special Forces command controlling the AC-130s, the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force, said it would have no comment on the deployment...

White-collar Iraqis targeted by assassins
Brian Conley and Isam Rashid
White-collar professionals such as doctors and academics are being targeted in the violence sweeping Iraq. "Really we don't know exactly who they are, but I am sure these criminals are not normal and they get training in other countries," said Ali al-Obeidi, a doctor in Mosul. "They know very well what they are doing ... Their purpose is to destroy Iraq from the inside." Dr Isam al-Rawi, a member of the Association of Muslim Scholars and head of the Teachers Association of Iraqi Universities, suggests that both Iran and United States-led occupying forces are responsible for the killing of educated and influential Iraqis (...) "This is tyranny. We live in the worst tyranny in all of human history," Rawi said...

CENTCOM Team Engages 'Bloggers'
Capt. Steve Alvarez, USA , American Forces Press Service
...Anyone who wants a virtual voice can create a blog and share information with the online world. The ease with which bloggers spread information is what public affairs officials at CENTCOM saw when they created the blog team. McNorton said the team contacts bloggers to inform the writers about any given topic that may have been posted on their site. This outreach effort enables the team to offer complete information to bloggers by inviting them to visit CENTCOM's Web site for news releases, data or imagery...

Iraq WMD Lies: The Words of Mass Deception
Michael Rivero, What Really Happened
Colin Powell, February 2001: "[Saddam] has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors. So in effect, our policies have strengthened the security of the neighbors of Iraq."
Condoleeza Rice, July 2001: "We are able to keep his arms from him. His military forces have not been rebuilt."....

CLOSING HAITI'S "OPEN VEINS" - RENE PREVAL'S IMPOSSIBLE MISSION
Stephen Lendman
...Even some in the so-called progressive media have lost their moorings and have now become as corrupted as the corporate media on some crucial issues. Witness the venerable Nation Magazine, the oldest continuously published magazine in the country which first came out in1865, the year the Civil War ended. They were wrong and failed their readers when they supported the Afghan war after 9/11, and several of their regulars supported the Iraq war at least up to the time it began. They also ran a repugnant racist full page ad in their January 9/16, 2006 issue entitled "Arabian Fables" which outrageously implied Palestinians are prone to violence and deception, and there can be no peaceful, diplomatic resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In response to volumes of justifiable complaints, The Nation replied with an unacceptable weak-kneed op-ed piece claiming political advertising was protected by the First Amendment. Sound familiar? The recent demonizing "cartoons" in European newspapers portraying a blasphemous image of the Prophet Mohammed claimed the same right. Don't hatemongers always do that?...

Middle East Democracy and the Hamas Factor
Ramzy Baroud
There is a degree of surrealism in all of this. Hamas has presented its choice of Prime Minister to President Mahmoud Abbas, as the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine says it has agreed in principle to join a Hamas-led government. In the Arab world, such political transformation (that of Islamists and Socialists working together to create a transparent and democratic Parliament) is only possible in political satire, not as an attainable and healthy political process. But Palestinians - as the Hamas Parliamentary victory sweep and the smooth transition of power have shown - are proving to be quite exceptional in this regard. It goes without saying that Palestinians, and those who have genuinely supported their democratic insurgency have many reasons to be proud...

Military to continue to pay Iraqi media: Casey
Charles Aldinger, Reuters
The U.S. military will continue to pay Iraqi media to publish reports favorable to American forces following an investigation into the controversial practice, the top U.S. general in Iraq said on Friday. Army Gen. George Casey, commander of U.S. forces there, told reporters in a teleconference from Iraq that the investigation by a Navy admiral ordered by Casey "found that we were operating within our authorities and responsibilities"...

GI Special 4C2 - The Troops Take Center Stage - March 2, 2006
Thomas F. Barton
...More adults in the United States believe their federal administration was wrong to order military action against Iraq, according to a poll by Gallup released by CNN and USA Today. 55 per cent of respondents believe the U.S. made a mistake in sending troops to Iraq, up four points since late January. 56 per cent of respondents say they oppose the U.S. war with Iraq. [A] CBS poll showed public approval for Bush’s handling of Iraq, once among his strongest suits, falling to 30 per cent from 37 per cent in January...

Resolution to Impeach Bush-Cheney Passes 7-3
Ken Werner, Trinity Plaza Tenants Association (TPTA)
On Tuesday, February 28, 2006, the City and County of San Francisco became the first large municipality to call for the impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney, by a 7-3 vote. Supervisors Sean Elsbernd, Michela Alioto-Pier, and Sophie Maxwell cast the dissenting votes (Sup. Jake McGoldrick was absent for the vote). Sup. Chris Daly commenced his introduction of Agenda Item 27 with "I initially thought this ... would be a noncontroversial piece of legislation. Perhaps it still is, maybe not-a-unanimous-vote piece of legislation. But if you remember when we took our oath of office we swore to uphold the Constitution...

Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Friday, 3 March 2006
Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member, editorial board, the Free Arab Voice
In a dispatch posted at 4:10pm Mecca time Friday afternoon, Mafkarat al-Islam reported that an Iraqi Resistance bomb exploded by a US military column in al-Qa’im in western Iraq, near the Syrian border early Friday afternoon. The al-Qa’im correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported eyewitnesses in the "12 Rabi' ath-Thani" neighborhood of the city as saying that an Iraqi Resistance bomb that was planted by the side of the road exploded at 1pm local time Friday afternoon, destroying an American Humvee and killing or wounding the four US troops who were aboard it...

Iraq: Pure War, Pure Crime
David Swanson
The Iraq War is a pure war, a war for the sake of war. Congress is debating whether to spend another fortune on it, another fortune that could completely remake this nation if spent on useful projects, and Congress has no reason for the war. The reason is purely that the media won't like you if you vote against a war, but there's no actual reason for the war, not the weapons of mass destruction that Bush always knew weren't there, not the ties to 9-11 that Bush always knew did not exist on behalf of a ruler who anyway is no longer in power, not reducing terrorism which has been increased by this war, not improving global relations when this war has driven global opinion of the US to a record low, not preventing a civil war which the US attack and occupation have created, not supporting the troops when most of the troops want to come home and almost half of them openly admit to pollsters that they don't know why they're there...

'War on terror' trials could allow evidence obtained through torture
AFP
US military officers, breaking with domestic and international legal precedent, said that "war on terror" military tribunals at the Guantanamo naval base could allow evidence obtained through torture. The US military officer presiding over the trial of an alleged aide to Osama bin Laden said he was not ready to rule out such evidence. The officer, who wields power similar to a judge, was asked by the defense lawyer representing Ali Hamza Ahmad al-Bahlul, a Yemeni accused of plotting terror attacks for bin Laden's Al-Qaeda network, if he was ready to exclude all evidence secured through torture...

Abbas to Iraq: Stop killing Palestinians
Jerusalem Post
Dozens of Palestinians have been killed in Iraq by Iraqis belonging to various political and religious factions over the past few months, Palestinian Authority officials here told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday. In the past week alone, three Palestinians living in Baghdad were kidnapped and brutally murdered, the officials said. A week earlier, gunmen kidnapped and murdered Nawaf Mussa, a Palestinian who was working as an imam in a Baghdad mosque. PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday phoned several Iraqi government officials and representatives of various groups in Baghdad, urging them to intervene to stop the killings. The PA, according to the officials, has also requested the intervention of the US and the UN...

Civil War and Ending the War
David Swanson
Fox News titled a recent segment "All Out Civil War in Iraq: could it Be a Good Thing?" Presumably it could from the point of view of the Bush-Cheney gang, if it gets in the way of all-out resistance to the occupation. That is, Bush almost certainly would prefer to see Sunnis fighting Shias than to see both fighting Americans and collaborators. From the point of view of the Iraqi people, the people of the Middle East, and the people of the United States either type of civil war is just more very bad news. In either type of war, or a combination of the two, it makes sense to call it a CIVIL war, since Iraqis are doing most of the killing and dying – and most of those dying are civilians...

Living murder
Nermeen Al-Mufti
..."Those who killed Atwar are people who don't want the truth to come out," says journalist Abdel-Amir Al-Majar. "Where has the fourth person who was with the Al-Arabiya crew gone? How did he manage to escape? And why is the news so conflicting about the crew's abduction and murder? During the funeral, more killing took place, and once again the truth was lost amid conflicting reports. The only truth we know is that journalists are a main target." Amal Husein, a news reporter, is shocked by Talibani's suggestion that journalists should carry guns for self-defence...

Blair 'prayed to God' over Iraq
BBC News
Prime Minister Tony Blair has told how he prayed to God when deciding whether or not to send UK troops to Iraq. Mr Blair answered "yes" when asked on ITV1 chat show Parkinson - to be screened on Saturday - if he had sought holy intervention on the issue. "Of course, you struggle with your own conscience about it... and it's one of these situations that, I suppose, very few people ever find themselves in"...

Destruction of the Golden Mosque in Samarra*
* Samarra is a Sunni city with a Shi’ite shrine at its heart

Merry FitzGerald
I am filled with great sadness and anger at hearing that yet another mosque has been attacked and destroyed in Iraq. The Askari Mosque, (also called 'Golden Mosque because of its golden dome) is sacred to both Sunnis and Shi’ite. For the Shi’ite it is an important symbol as it is the burial place of the 10th and 11th Shi’ite Imams (holy descendants of the Prophet): Ali al-Hadi and Hasan al-Askari. The Shi’ite (twelvers) believe that Hasan al-Askari’s 'occulted’ son: Muhammad al-Mahdi 'al-muntadhar’(who disappeared in 260/874 in a super natural realm), the Twelfth and final of the Shi’ite Imams or Mahdi, (also called the 'Hidden Imam’) will return to earth to bring an era of justice and peace, followed by the end of the world...

Is our occupation showing?
Imad Khadduri
"The number of U.S. troops in Iraq should not be so big that they appear to be an occupying force, despite recent spikes in sectarian violence, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said Thursday. .... He said America needs to have enough military forces there to support the fledgling government and the development of a new political system, but not so many that it will feed the insurgency and make Iraqis think the U.S. is there only for oil...

Urgent! urgent!
Military sources in Paris ascertain that the US fascist Occupier in Iraq moans under a "killer defeat!"

Abu Assur
Press reports ascertained in Paris today that the US fascist Occupier has miserably failed to confront the Iraqi glorious Resistance or even to reduce the growing and heavy losses endured by its personnel and equipment. The same well informed sources quoting Monsieur Bernard Bajolet the French ambassador in Baghdad, said: "The US with all its might is not capable until this very moment to contain the daily and growing but unreported attacks launched by the Iraqi guerrilla against the foreign occupiers."...
