Dear Subscribers,

We have completed the contribution system, added full documentation for all 8,500 sources in our database, added one new project, and updated 3 existing timelines. This is by far the biggest update to the website we have ever done.

9/11 Timeline: This update includes new material on “Vulgar Betrayal,” terrorism financing, Ptech, Al Taqwa Bank, Ali Mohamed, civil liberties, Nabil al-Marabh, post-9/11 Afghanistan, Hani Hanjour, the WTC investigations, warning signs, counterterrorism before 9/11, al-Qaeda’s German cell, and the day of 9/11. Paul has prepared a detailed summary of his latest update here.

Iraq Timeline: The Iraq timeline has been updated to include additional details regarding the Bush administration’s aluminum tubes allegation, the case of the forged Niger documents, Curveball and the alleged mobile biological weapons labs, and the Pentagon’s recently exposed propaganda program in Iraq. You can view a timeline consisting of only the most recently added and modified entries here.

Venezuela Timeline: A few entries have been added to the Venezuela timeline addressing issues like Chavez’s 1999 constitution, the failed 2002 coup attempt, and Chavez’s strategic partnerships with other Latin American countries. You can view a timeline of just the new and recently edited entries here.

New Project: Contributor Timothy Howell has compiled a timeline documenting Western support of Islamic militancy. The project, titled The use of Islamist militants by American and Israeli militarists—The War in Afghanistan to September 11 and beyond, consists of nine different categories and 162 entries.

Having completed the contribution system, the next step is to create and train a network of volunteer contributors and editors. During this next phase, we will also being using the submission system to provide DAILY updates to the timelines. Then hopefully by mid-summer we can put this thing on autopilot, so the website can become a truly collaborative effort.
