Israel: A wolf dressed in victims clothes and why the destruction of Lebanon is a strategic disaster for the Empire William BowlesIll huff and Ill puff and Ill blow your house down said the Wolf. Well the Wolf is huffing and puffing but the house is not built of straw and Hezbollah (how is it spelt? Hez or Hiz?) are proving to be a very tenacious opponent. Okay, Israel has overwhelming orthodox military power but has it got the means or the political support at home for a protracted war? No doubt, given enou! gh time Hezbollah will be driven back from the border but will regroup elsewhere, and anyway, how much time does Israel have? Just like Iraq, the country can be trashed but it makes no difference, such barbaric destruction far from turning the Lebanese against Hezbollah has simply united the country against Israel and the US and critically, the rest of Middle East, especially their leaders...

| Pity the living and the days to come Hanady Salman writing from Beirut, Live from Lebanon...Let them die, tens of them each everyday. Don't pity them. I bet you they pity us. They pity us. They're somewhere where nothing worse could happen to them. We're left here, dealing with our consciences, debating whose fault it is, what's wrong and what's right. Pity us, pity those who did not get killed. Pity us who will be living in the "New Middle East" the US is tailoring for us. Pity the days to come. Does Hweiyda kn! ow that there's a bunch of people who will decide her fate in a conference in Rome?...

| Right-Wing Guide to World War III: Kill Em All, Let Allah Sort Em Out Think ProgressThe conservative advocacy group GrasstopsUSA sent out a mass email yesterday featuring a column described as "a spectators guide to World War III the Lebanese Front." The title: "Kill 'Em All. Let Allah Sort 'Em Out." Some low-lights: A disproportionate response is the best kind.
What would a proportionate Israeli response be? Snatching two Hezbollah fighters, torturing them to death, cutting off their genitals and! stuffing them in their mouths? Lebanon used to be a nice little country, before the Sons of Allah got their blood-smeared hands on it. Believe it or not, Beirut was once
the most advanced and prosperous country in the Arab world because a majority of Lebanese were Christians. Israel needs to step-up its air strikes and send in the troops (can you say "massive deployment, baby?") to do the job only ground forces can do.
To resurrect and reconfigure one of my favorite Vietnam-era slogans Kill 'em all. Let Allah sort 'em out....

| Israel Fakes a Provocation (the "kidnapping" of Cpl Gilad Shalit) What Really HappenedIf you are not already convinced that the whole story is a fabrication, ask yourself; What were the four Israeli soldiers doing in the tiny confines of that dug-in tank? Ask your self; How long were they going to continue sitting in that tank? All day perhaps, or till they roasted in the desert sun? Or, till another group of four took over on the next shift? And of course, having four soldiers in just one tank, wont prov! ide a defense, so there will have to be hundreds of tanks and hundreds of soldiers all sitting in these tanks,... all waiting,... all waiting,... all waiting,.... for exactly what? Waiting for Palestinian children to throw stones at them, perhaps? Perhaps, waiting attentively for militants to dig a half mile tunnel through sandy soil, pop up, and rush them over flat ground, but not attentively enough to see them approach? Perhaps, they were waiting for the Egyptian army to materialize, Star Trek like, from their bases hundreds of miles away on the other side of the Suez canal? I don't know ... you tell me why? Yes, the story is a total fabrication. A fake provocation to start a war...

| An new turn in the Iraq war story Mike Mentzer, POACHere's the Iraq War, brought to you by Dual US/Israeli Citizens Paul Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith (Israeli Likud Party Member and Policy writer), Richard Perle (Israeli Likud Party Member and Policy writer.) These three were handed the keys to the United States Military Home, The Pentagon, granted top civilian office holders in the Pentagon, by the Texas Tea Party (aka BushCo). These three brought us Chalabi, Curveball and Niger Uranium. At least 2 of the aforement! ioned individuals are responsible for the current Israeli War Policy, Clean Break, in action in Gaza and Lebanon as we speak (...) The two policies fit like a hand and glove. Both policies were put to paper in 2000. So, was 911/01 an arboration ? Could the US and Israeli War Policies, occuring as we speak, have been advanced for the last 5 years without 911? Absolutely not...

| Iran: The Next War JAMES BAMFORD, Rolling Stone...The shift in official policy has thrilled former members of the cabal. To them, the war in Lebanon represents the final step in their plan to turn Iran into the next Iraq. Ledeen, writing in the National Review on July 13th, could hardly restrain himself. "Faster, please," he urged the White House, arguing that the war should now be taken over by the U.S. military and expanded across the entire region. "The only way we are going to win this war is to bring down t! hose regimes in Tehran and Damascus, and they are not going to fall as a result of fighting between their terrorist proxies in Gaza and Lebanon on the one hand, and Israel on the other. Only the United States can accomplish it," he concluded. "There is no other way."...

The Baghdad correspondent for Mafkarat al-Islam reported US Marine armor had deployed in strength in the ! areas of al-'Amiriyah, ad-Durah, the al-Jihad neighborhood, al-Ghazaliyah, al-A'zamiyah, ash-Sha'b, and al-Mansur. The correspondent reported that the US Marines were replacing Iraqi puppet army forces that had manned checkpoints since Wednesday morning, searching civilian cars and checking identity papers...

| Human shields "Bell Way", One Palestine...As I have heard so many people say, this is all aimed to destroy our dignity; if they can destroy our dignity we will lose our ability to resist them. Another main aim, added one person, is to try to make us hate them so much that we will leave rather than live with them in the future. But the thing is, after all these decades, we don't really hate them. We don't want them to suffer, or die
we don't want all of the terrible things that have happened to us to happen to t! hem.. all we want is to live in our homes in peace and if they will accept the same we have no further issue with them. | Media Bias and Distortion Fuels War in the Middle East Abukar Arman, GlobalResearch.ca...At a time when media around the world, especially in least likely places such as the Middle East, are gradually reaching new heights in promoting unprecedented political openness, the quality of news coverage, programming, and the overall credibility of the American mainstream media is ironically ona declining trend as more and more media organizations are abandoning objective standards of journalistic ethos and becoming the! "facilitators of venomous discourse" and the "purveyors of misinformation and propaganda". And nowhere does media bias manifest itself more than in the slanted reporting of the Israeli/Palestinian conundrum where reporting is, unfortunately, single-minded in perspective and predictable in conclusion...

| Maliki: Dead Man Walking Robert DreyfussMalikis message was a simple one, and he delivered while standing in front of his puppet master, the scowling Dick Cheney. Did Maliki headline the sectarian bloodletting and ethnic cleansing in Iraq, the death squads and militias? No. Did Maliki present a plan for securing Iraqs capital? No. Instead, he stuck to the Republican Partys 2006 electoral talking points: that Iraq is the central front in the so-called Global War on Terrorism. He cited 9/11, a crime perpetrated! by what he called "impostors of Islam," and he portrayed the violence in Iraq as the direct continuation of Americas effort against Al Qaeda: Iraq is the front line of this struggle.
Iraq is your ally in the War on Terror.
The greatest threat Iraq faces is terror created by extremists. Iraq is free and the terrorists cannot stand this.
This terrorist front is a threat to every civilized country. Iraq is the battle that will determine the war.
I will not allow Iraq to become a launching pad for Al Qaeda. .. Iraq will be the graveyard for terrorism and terrorists." Of course, all of this is nonsense...

| Richard Cohen's Blood Lust Applauding While Lebanon Burns NORMAN SOLOMONSyndicated columnist Richard Cohen declared in the Washington Post on Tuesday that an-eye-for-an-eye would be a hopelessly wimpy policy for the Israeli government. "Anyone who knows anything about the Middle East knows that proportionality is madness," he wrote. "For Israel, a small country within reach, as we are finding out, of a missile launched from any enemy's back yard, proportionality is not only inapplicable, it is suicide! . The last thing it needs is a war of attrition. It is not good enough to take out this or that missile battery. It is necessary to reestablish deterrence: You slap me, I will punch out your lights." Cohen likes to sit in front of a computer and use flip phrases like "punch out your lights" as euphemisms for burning human flesh and bones with high-tech weapons, courtesy of American taxpayers...

| Empire: war and propaganda John Pilger...The attendant propaganda - the abuse of language and eternal hypocrisy - has reached its nadir in recent weeks. An Israeli soldier belonging to an invasion force was captured and held, legitimately, as a prisoner of war. Reported as a "kidnapping", this set off yet more slaughter of Palestinian civilians. The seizure of two Palestinian civilians two days before the capture of the soldier was of no interest. Neither was the incarceration of thousands of Palestinian hostage! s in Israeli prisons, and the torture of many of them, as documented by Amnesty. The kidnapped soldier story cancelled any serious inquiry into Israel's plans to reinvade Gaza, from which it had staged a phoney withdrawal. The fact and meaning of Hamas's self-imposed 16-month ceasefire were lost in inanities about "recognising Israel", along with Israel's state of terror in Gaza - the dropping of a 500lb bomb on a residential block, the firing of as many as 9,000 heavy artillery shells into one of the most densely populated places on earth and the nightly terrorising with sonic booms... .

| A STATEMENT ABOUT THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE 24th of JULY 2006 The Defense Concerns Are Confirmed Again Defense and Support Committee of President Saddam Hussein, his Comrades and all P.o.W.s and Detainees in Iraq (ISNADThe proceedings of the 38th trial session of the Dujail case on the 24th of July 2006 before the Special Criminal Court that is currently trying President Saddam Hussein and his comrades proved that the Defense Committee was right in its decision to suspend its attendance due to the lack ! of the minimum standards of a fair trial. The Court, presided by Judge Raouf with those who supervise and stand behind it, went too far in breaching the basic rights of legal defense by: 1- Compelling Mr.Barazan Tikriti, after he was isolated from his comrades, to appear before it, despite the fact that he was on hunger strike. He was prevented from leaving the courtroom although he asked in all straight forwardness to leave in protest of denying him an opportunity to appoint a legal counsel as his first lawyer martyr Khamis Obeidi had been assassinated recently. 2 - Lawyer Mazin Abdul Jabbar Ramadani was imposed on Mr.Barazan as his defense counsel...

| Iraqi Resistance Report for events of Tuesday, 25 July 2006. Translated and/or compiled by Muhammad Abu Nasr, member, editorial board, the Free Arab Voice....In a statement entitled "Sectarian Fanatics are the Fifth Column of the Occupation" the Iraqi Baath Party on Monday denounced both Sunni and Shi'i sectarian fundamentalist fanatics, the "takfiri" elements (literally: those who regard anyone who disagrees with them as an infidel and a legitimate target) who are trying to "drag Iraq into the minefield"! of sectarianism planted by the US, "Israel," and Iran. The statement noted that the Baath Party was always a promoter of the doctrine that the Arabs were a body whose spirit was Islam. It noted that this was true of all Arabs, regardless of the religion to which they belong, because Islam was also a cultural tradition, not merely a system of religious rites...

Hezbollah rockets continue to be fired into northern ! Israel. The rocket fire has led to 17 deaths in Israel so far. | Premeditated Genocide; Racism as a case for war in Lebanon Report and Comments by A.J. Ward; 7-25-06...My stomach turns when I hear the pro-Israeli propaganda on the American media calling this another step in the Middle East "peace process". In order to soften the images in our hearts and minds, they call an invasion into Lebanon "the IDF enters Lebanon". In order to push the blame for the indiscriminate murder of hundreds of civilians (about a third which are children) from our psyche, it is a marginal group! of resistance fighters who are blamed for "putting civilians in harms way". Do not be swayed into believing that a staged abduction and killing of a few Israeli soldiers is cause enough to obliterate a sovereign nation. As reported yesterday by independent news sources and the San Francisco Chronicle, the invasion of Lebanon was a planned event...

Wake up the children and release the pigs from the barn. This is big news. The New York Times' article--or the first in a series--about "the anguish" of Israeli occupation troops has been released. Please, survey your local newspapers in US and Canada and share such stories of "anguish"--they are a staple of US press coverage of all Isr! aeli wars of aggression: "Ohad said he called his wife to say goodnight before going into battle, and called her when he came out to say he was O.K."
