As we all know, this administration LIED about reasons for going into war with Iraq.

It came out in public that merely hours right after the 9/11 attacks, Rumsfeld immediately asked his aides to round up anything that they could that would tie 9/11 to Iraq (in order to go to war against them even though they had nothing to do with September 11). http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/09/04/september11/main520830.shtml

Now, Bush is admitting that he thought that showing this Bin Laden video would help his re-election campaign. So why, pray tell, does the nation not realize that if he would LIE about reasons for waging pre-emptive war against Iraq, then it certainly stands to reason that he certainly would also be prone to LIE about Bin Laden and who actually DID 9/11, too?

Once a liar is caught in the act, future credibility is shot to hell. And in W's case, with less and less Americans believing the official myth of the guy in the cave and 19 non-flying pilot "hijackers," it sure seems like somebody soon is going to have a whole *lot* of 'splainin' to do....

Please forward this on. The nation must all read that this Bin Laden video was USED to further W's political ambitions to be Fascist ruler for another four-year term. This is like hammering the nails into a political coffin for removal from office one GW Bush for using this film (which many experts claim is BOGUS anyway, a pure CIA-engineered film production) as PROPAGANDA to get Junior re-elected any way possible.

In the minds of W & Co. and their DC Doctors of Spin? Never mind Diebold voting machines mysteriously counting more votes than there were voters. As even W himself admits now, desperate times apparently called for the use of some even more desperate measures during the last election.

So with our own President's admission that he used Bin Laden to screw over the public and have his way with America? One only hopes that Bin Laden's federal "actors' guild" paid him mightily handsomely for the gig. After all, a guy believed by many to be dead but still on dialysis in a remote dark hidden cave can rack up some pretty high medical bills.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President George W. Bush said his 2004 re-election victory over Sen. John Kerry was inadvertently aided by Osama bin Laden, who issued a taped diatribe against him the Friday before Americans went to the polls, The Examiner newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Bush said there were "enormous amounts of discussion" inside his campaign about the 15-minute tape, which he called "an interesting entry by our enemy" into the presidential race.

Bush's comments in the Washington newspaper were excerpts from the new book "Strategery" by Bill Sammon, a long-time White House correspondent.
"What does it mean? Is it going to help? Is it going to hurt?" Bush told Sammon of the bin Laden tapes. "Anything that drops in at the end of a campaign that is not already decided creates all kinds of anxieties, because you're not sure of the effect.

"I thought it was going to help," Bush said. "I thought it would help remind people that if bin Laden doesn't want Bush to be the president, something must be right with Bush."

I like what Belafonte's doing too. But remember, everything he says is being distorted, misrepresented and attacked by not only right-wing radio but even the supposedly apolitical morning comedy jocks like Adam Carrolla, Bob & Tom, and Mancow.
And these assholes have huge audiences that are hearing them say crap like "Belafonte's a nut", "If he hates America so much, he should just move to Iran", etc. And they think they're being funny.

So hears what we need to do:
Whenever you hear one of these DJ's, especially the local ones, spewing anti-truth crap like that on-air, DON"T let them get away with it, CALL IN and school them! This ignorance must not go unchallenged.

We can not afford to let this ignorance go unchallenged!

There has recently been a spate of reports concerning the castigation and investigation of various celebrities who have voiced a political opinion that is critical of the government, the "war on terror" or the war in Iraq.
This is a dangerous indication that our society as whole is systematically being deprived of freedom of speech and being coerced into a mindset that says those who question their government are traitors.
We undoubtedly live in a celebrity obsessed society and the media drives this forward to its full advantage. The way the political opinions of those in the limelight are portrayed in the mainstream media is communicated to a mass audience and becomes a microcosm for political opinion in general.
The attempt at utter destruction of the reputation of George Clooney in the press recently reveals this very premise.
Clooney - known as a prominent critic of the Bush government - told the BBC that he had been "nailed" in the American media following his vocal opposition to ongoing conflict in Iraq.
"I've been nailed in the American press as a traitor to my country because I said we should ask questions before we went to war," he has commented.
"But I never held a press conference saying 'this is what you should think'. I asked questions and said 'these are the questions that I believe I have the right to ask' - which is what our government was founded on."
Clooney has also famously been branded a "traitor" by the US media for expressing his opinions.
Since when was anyone a traitor for suggesting we should be keeping the government in check? Were the founding fathers traitors? Yes they were. They were traitors to the crown, to the rulers, who wished to continue their Iron fist reign. The foundation of America was treasonous only to the power hungry and the ruling elite because a few dared to suggest that the people should enjoy greater freedoms and equalities and that THEY should be served by those who are elected to run things.

Clooney's two current movies, Good Night, And Good Luck and Syriana, are social commentaries that have subtle political overtones relevant to current events. However, they are in no way extremely anti-government or radically political.
Despite this Clooney continues to be portrayed by the media as a dangerous left-wing critic whose anti-war opinions are not indicative of Americans, despite the fact that THE MAJORITY now believe the war was a mistake and want immediate withdrawal.
Clooney has also been targeted for suggesting in Syriana that the government does not listen to the people.
He has commented that "the three branches of the US government are "all on the same side" and therefore the idea of Syriana was to be an "opposing voice... to say, 'at the very least, you have to be allowed to ask tough questions'."

In another recent "celebrity revelation" it came to light that the singer Morrissey had been detained and questioned by the FBI.
His crime? "Speaking out against the American and British governments."
Morrissey was quoted as saying that he had been "investigated, interviewed and taped" in order to determine whether or not he was a threat to either governments.
"I don't belong to any political groups, I don't really say anything unless I'm asked directly and I don't even demonstrate in public...My view is that neither England or America are democratic societies. You can't really speak your mind and if you do you're investigated." Morrissey commented.

One of Morrissey's recent songs was a proudly patriotic composition that relayed the message that to him being British was not about being coerced to think in whatever way the state wishes, but to enjoy hard earned freedom of expression. The lyrics to Irish Blood, English Heart are as follows:

And denounce this royal line that still salute him

Is it now traitorous to hold these views? The FBI and British special branch certainly seem to think so.
Yet another celebrity thought criminal was revealed recently in the form of rock star and stand-up comedian Henry Rollins.
The dastardly deed carried out by renowned hardman Rollins was.... reading a book on an aeroplane.
Rollins was reported to the Australian authorities for reading a book entitled Jihad: The Rise Of Militant Islam In Central Asia.
Rollins then received a letter from the Australian government warning him not to read such books in future. His response was to post the letter on his website and tell the Australian government to "go f***k themselves."

The government of Australia is actually telling people what they can and cannot read. And now it seems that if you want to actually learn about something (like Jihad), in order to attempt to understand the premise, then you yourself are considered to be sympathetic to that subject.
Let's put this into context. If a student reads about the rise of the Nazi party does that make him or her a fascist? If you pick up a book about a serial killer, does it mean you want to go out and murder scores of people?
Whilst movies like Clooney's or songs like Morrissey's are portrayed by the media as unpatriotic and unrepresentative of our societies, those that tow the government line are lauded and praised to the hilt.
Several new movies and TV productions have and will continue to uniformly reinforce the official line on the events of 9/11, an line that over half of New Yorkers believe to be lies.
Whilst actors like Clooney are castigated, others such as arch Neo-Con Bruce Willis will be given glowing praise as he produces his pro-war Iraq film that relates "the success" of liberating the Iraqi people.
The state cringes when movies that actually make people think hit the big screen but they salivate when an audience can be hoodwinked into buying their crap through the medium of entertainment.
It is no surprise that another movie that has involved Clooney is the upcoming blockbuster A Scanner Darkly which further highlights a growing movement within Hollywood to push the genre firmly towards the direction of subtle social commentary that involves questioning, thinking and warning.
In the post 9/11 world there has been renewed attempt to make it seem like these kind of productions and the views behind them are somehow dangerous or unpatriotic, when exactly the opposite is true.
We are led to believe by the media that no one really thinks in this way and they are the strange views of someone who has spent too much time in the public eye and has become too self important and perhaps a little paranoid.
In reality the progressive views of people like Clooney, who have carefully learned their trade over many years, picked thought provoking and informative projects to be involved with and not simply been thrust into the limelight via the latest Hollywood blockbuster, are a microcosm for society as a whole.
Sadly the relentless attack on these people is also indicative of the relentless attack on freedom of expression and intelligent thought on a wider scale.

Yes folks, between close-ups of Paris Hilton's bikini wax and reviews of the latest Grand Theft Auto, the esteemed journalists of Maxim have decided to join the 9/11 conspiracy debate. You can't read the article on their site w/o subscribing, but you can find it at fine newstands everywhere. I read it and it wasn't as bad as I expected. It was fairly balanced with just a hint of a mocking, dismissive tone. Among the offenses:

- A sidebar about the psychology of "conspiracy believers", in which some asshat shrink claims that it's our feelings of "powerlessness" that lead many to an irrational belief in vast conspiracies. What a load of psychobabble horseshit!

- The deceptive tactic of asking a rhetorical question, suggesting that the 9/11 truth movement doesn't have an answer for it, when in fact we do. For example, the Maxim writer asks "If the towers were brought down by demolition explosives, how could they have placed them without anybody noticing?" Who would like to send Maxim the answer to that question?

California Enacts Resolution Critical of USA PATRIOT Act!
By a vote of 23 to 10 the California Senate on February 16th passed
a Resolution critical of the USA PATRIOT Act! The Resolution passed
the California Assembly in January, making California the eighth
state and 404th governmental body to protest attacks on basic
Freedoms by the USA Patriot Act. For the latest information on the

The USA Patriot Act was passed by Congress without due consideration
in the wake of the 9-11 disaster. (The actual bill was not widely
available until after the voting.) Over 25 Billion dollars was spent
yearly on intelligence gathering and evaluation prior to the 9-11
attack. In spite of this huge expenditure of personnel and money ,
our intelligence community was apparently unable to uncover this
massive terror operation which was taking place under their
collective noses. Was any agency or individual held accountable for
the death and destruction this tragic lapse allowed to happen? No,
the usual government answers to a disaster were employed. Throw
money at the problem by expanding an intelligence community which
obviously wasn't working very well, and curtail the Freedoms of law

Were our borders strengthened so that terrorists couldn't continue
to saunter over them? No! Were illegal aliens or aliens on expired
or fraudulent visas picked up and deported? No! Have the

allow me to clarify.

on the national level, the 3rd party gots no effect on the dodo brains in power, if you are talking about 3rd parties on the LOCAL level, that's a different story. on the local level I still beleive we have an awful lot of power.

frankly in regards to WINGTV, i'd say to HELL with them, you've been far too nice to lisa in regards to the level of respect she gives you in return....there's a word for that and its BITCH! We need our own "Psychology of the Conspiracy REALIST" essays that
are full of verifiable citations that expose the REALITY of
corruption and folks being convicted of conspiracy. That way we can
more easily counter these "Psychology of the Conspiracy Theorist"
type sidebars articles that are used in mags like Maxim and the
Village Voice (most recently) as well as that silly professor who was
on C-SPAN so long ago who was on the very morning after Alex Jones
was on Coast to Coast AM a few years back.

For the record, I'm actually on leave from Iraq. But if you think I'm going to post this from an internet room at my base's MWR, you're freakin' nuts. I've worried about Bush tapping those lines long before we found out he was tapping phones without a warrant in the good old US of A.

This subject has been touched on by other vets who post on here, but I don't think it's been made into a whole diary until now.

We need to get out because our military cannot take much more of this. We are stretched too thin and it's about to get worse.

Currently our troop strength is bleak. Most of the "old Army" is gone now. Almost all of the Soldiers that I knew who had 15+ years in have since retired and left the military. They leave because they are tired of deploying and being away from their families. Now it's the rookies that are left fighting.

It may have been Clinton's Army that toppled Saddam, but it's Bush's Army that is left with the insurgents.

When I first left for Iraq, we had that problem. Most of our leadership had left after our first stint in OEF. To fix the gaping hole in our leadership, the brass decided to do 2 things:

Slap some extra rank on Soldiers and give them a leadership position they weren't ready for.

Take Soldiers who did have the rank and leadership position and put them in a job they weren't trained for (example: Artillery being put in charge of MPs).

As a result we have leadership that is too inexperienced and overwhelmed to do their job. But wait! It gets worse!

Soldiers are frustrated. Every soldier I have talked to says that they are getting out of the military when they get home. Every. One. Of. Them. Regardless of rank, experience, or time in, they all want out. There has not been a single Soldier I've talked to that says they want to stay in. This include officers, NCOs, and rookies who are on their first tour of duty.

We need to get out of Iraq because Iraq is the reason why the military is shrinking. We, like Cindy Sheehan, are curious as to what "noble cause" we are fighting for. We can't seem to find one.

This is weakening America. At the rate we are going, we are going to have a military that can't fight because it has old and broken down equipment, and no troops to fight a war with.

If you could imagine the US Armed Forces being a fraction of what it once was, with old and broken down equipment, and with none of its divisions ready to go to war and provide for the national defense, you can imagine the nightmare that the US Military is becoming.

We simply can't stay in Iraq and have a strong military at the same time.
We beat the commie bastards without Vietnam and we can beat the terrorists without Iraq. But right now we need to get out of Iraq, regroup, and come up with a new plan to beat them. This "stay the course" bullshit has got to go.
