There's a museum in Springfield IL of Lincoln History (or what passes
for history) in which they make extensive use of animated holograms
projected in open air.

I don't believe they used holographic projection on 911 tho.
That was my explanation when I believed in "thousands of witnesses" and
that turned out not to be true.
It is studio created, flight simulator based cartoons.
That's why it butterplanes instead of paying attention to momentum and
gravity and exploding impressively with big parts falling aflame.

The World Trade Center and the World Financial Towers are the only
buildings in the simulation where Flight Simulations butterplane.
Else they just end the game with the plane's nose touching the building.
