Serialized discussions tend to leave past topics way behind in the
dust and newcomers really have to dig to find topics of interest.
Wikiweb content managment is I have found superior to groups for
collecting research data -- helps eliminate a lot of redundant
discussions. No question in my mind that wikis are far superior. i
have used both types of systems.
