Outrage over private 9/11 images copyright
NEW YORK, Feb. 13 (UPI) -- Outrage is spreading among families of those killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, New York terror attacks that a photographer has copyrighted the images in his name.
Photographer Gregg Brown, who was paid about $300,000 by the city, refused to sign an agreement that would have given the city ownership of 30,000 photos and countless hours of videos captured while he was in a city police helicopter.
The New York Daily News reported that instead, Brown registered the material with the U.S. Copyright Office for himself, and has begun marketing them.
Now some of thee images have ended up in a documentary with topless women and naked men, infuriating victims' families.
Alice Hoglan of California, whose son Mark Bingham was one of the passengers of Flight 93, said she was horrified.
"I'm really sorry that he's chosen to use his gripping photographs for commercial gain," she said. "It really disgusts me that someone would use this material in this manner."
The world can only be redeemed through action--movement -- motion. Uncoerced, unbribed and unbought, humanity will move toward the light.
