The delivery of three tonnes of ammonium nitrate to a group
suspected of plotting terrorist attacks in southern Ontario was part
of an undercover police sting operation, the Toronto Star has
learned.

The RCMP said yesterday that after investigating the alleged
homegrown terrorist cell for months, they had to move quickly Friday
night to arrest 12 men and five youths before the group could launch
a bomb attack on Canadian soil.

Sources say investigators who had learned of the group's alleged
plan to build a bomb were controlling the sale and transport of the
massive amount of fertilizer, a key component in creating
explosives. Once the deal was done, the RCMP-led anti-terrorism task
force moved in for the arrests.

At a news conference yesterday morning, the RCMP displayed a sample
of ammonium nitrate and a crude cell phone detonator they say was
seized in the massive police sweep when the 17 were taken into
custody. However, they made no mention of the police force's
involvement in the sale.

"It was their intent to use it for a terrorist attack," said RCMP
assistant commissioner Mike McDonell. "If I can put this in context
for you, the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma
City that killed 168 people was completed with only one tonne of
ammonium nitrate."

Ammonium nitrate is a popular fertilizer, but when mixed with fuel
oil it can create a powerful explosive.

Standing behind McDonell were the chiefs of police from Toronto and
Durham, York and Peel regions, as well as officials with the Ontario
Provincial Police and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service —
representing about 400 people involved with the investigation of the
group.

"This group posed a real and serious threat," said McDonell,
speaking near a table with seized evidence such as a 9-mm Luger
handgun, military fatigues and two-way radios. "It had the capacity
and intent to carry out these acts."

The suspects were allegedly planning to launch attacks in southern
Ontario, but officials would not specify targets. Nor would they say
if attacks were considered imminent.

However, they did say the TTC was not a target. Sources told the
Star that the Toronto headquarters of Canada's spy agency on Front
St., adjacent to the CN Tower, was on the group's alleged list.

The names of the 12 adult suspects now in custody were made public
yesterday, but identities of the youths under the age of 18 cannot
be released, according to Canadian laws protecting minors. Of the
adults, six are from Mississauga; four from Toronto and two were
already incarcerated in Kingston on gun smuggling charges.

The charges laid against the men included participating in or
contributing to the activity of a terrorist group, including
training and recruitment; providing or making available property for
terrorist purposes; and the commission of indictable offences,
including firearms and explosives offences for the benefit of or in
association with a terrorist group.

Charged are Fahim Ahmad, 21; Jahmaal James, 23; Amin Mohamed
Durrani, 19; and Steven Vikash Chand, 25, all of Toronto; Zakaria
Amara, 20; Asad Ansari, 21; Shareef Abdelhaleen, 30; Ahmad Mustafa
Ghany, 21; Saad Khalid, 19; and Qayyum Abdul Jamal, 43, all of
Mississauga; and Mohammed Dirie, 22 and Yasin Abdi Mohamed, 24, who
are incarcerated in Kingston.

As officials spoke with reporters, the suspects were being loaded
into unmarked vehicles at the Ajax-Pickering police station, where
they had spent the night. Wearing leg irons and handcuffs, they were
taken to a Brampton courtroom in groups of between two and six to
appear before a justice of the peace.

Anser Farooq, a lawyer who represents five of the accused, pointed
at snipers on the roof of the courthouse and said: "This is
ridiculous. They've got soldiers here with guns. This is going to
completely change the atmosphere.

"I think (the police) cast their net far too wide," he said, adding
his clients are considering suing law enforcement agencies.

The father of one accused, Mohammed Abdelhaleen, spoke outside the
courthouse after his son's appearance, saying there is "no
validation" to any of the charges against any of the suspects.

"I have no idea what this is," said the distraught father. "I'm sure
it's going to come to nothing. We're playing a political game here.
I hope the judicial system realizes this."

With quivering lips, the father said he was in "a very bad place
right now. The damage is already done."

Around the same time, Karl Nickner of the Canadian Council on
American-Islamic Relations issued a statement that he is
confident "the justice system will accord these individuals
transparency, due process and the presumption of innocence."

"We stand behind our security forces and the Canadian government in
their desire to protect Canada," said the executive director. "As
Canadian Muslims, we unequivocally condemn terrorism in all of its
forms."

It's still unclear how the group of suspects is connected and police
yesterday offered few details of its alleged activities. But sources
close to the investigation told the Star that the investigation
began in2004 when CSIS began monitoring fundamentalist Internet
sites and their users.

They later began monitoring a group of young men, and the RCMP
launched a criminal investigation. Police allege the group later
picked targets and plotted attacks.

Last winter some members of the group, including the teenagers, went
to a field north of the city, where they allegedly trained for an
attack and made a video imitating warfare.

Sources said some of the younger members forged letters about a
bogus school trip to give to their parents so they could attend.

Police said there were no known connections to Al Qaeda or
international terrorist organizations, but that the group was
homegrown, meaning the suspects were Canadian citizens, or long-time
residents and had allegedly become radicalized here.

This type of extremism was blamed for the suicide attacks in London
last July which claimed the lives of 52 commuters travelling on the
subway and a double-decker bus.

"They appear to have become adherents of a violent ideology inspired
by Al Qaeda," said Luc Portelance of CSIS, adding there is no direct
link to the network.

John Thompson of the Mackenzie Institute said he has long warned
officials about the possibility of homegrown terrorists and what he
dubbed the "jihad generation."

"There's been a focus on (recruiting) younger Muslims, especially
those who were mostly raised here," said Thompson, who is director
of the Toronto-based think tank.

Recruiters, or "ideological conditioners," he said, have been
actively seeking members in Toronto-area mosques, community centres
and schools since 2002.

Officials have not linked the suspects to terror cells abroad, but
Portelance was quick to point out the investigation is ongoing.

Sources say the cases of two men from Georgia, now in custody in the
U.S. facing terrorism charges, are connected to alleged members of
the Canadian group.

Yesterday, officials offered few details about the suspects or how
they met, saying only they come from a "variety of backgrounds" and
represented a broad strata, including students, the employed and
unemployed.

"It is important to know that this operation in no way reflects
negatively on any specific community or ethnocultural group in
Canada," said Portelance. "Terrorism is a dangerous ideology, and a
global phenomenon. ... Canada is not immune from this ideology."

When asked why Canadians would want to attack targets in Canada,
Portelance said: "Clearly, they're motivated by some of the things
we see around the world," he said.

"They're against the Western influences in Islamic countries and
have an adherence to violence to reach a political objective. But as
far as the specific motivators, I think they probably change from
individual to individual."

Speaking in Ottawa at an enrolment ceremony for 225 new Canadian
military recruits, Prime Minister Stephen Harper offered his views.

"As at other times in our history, we are a target because of who we
are and how we live, our society, our diversity and our values —
values such as freedom, democracy and the rule of law — the values
that make Canada great, values that Canadians cherish."

Alleged journalism By Eli Here's an AP story on arrests today in Canada: Canadian police foiled a homegrown terrorist attack by arresting 17 suspects, apparently inspired by al-Qaida, who obtained three times the amount of explosives used in the Oklahoma City bombing, officials said Saturday. Of course, you can only "foil an attack" if you have actual criminals, not just suspects. Now if these 17 suspects had actually "obtained" all those explosives, I wouldn't quibble. But four paragraphs later in the article, we learn that "the group had taken steps to acquire three tons of ammonium nitrate and other bomb-making materials." From what we know from reading the article, those "steps" might have consisted of nothing more than typing "ammonium nitrate" into Google. Are these real terrorists with a real plot? Quite possibly. But the rush to judgement and to convincing the public that a "terrorist attack" has been "foiled" is, from my reading of the evidence available to AP, quite unjustified (but hardly unexpected). Update: This is a very strange story. On CNN tonight, the story has been playing like this: the voice-over reporter says the suspects "tried to get" 3 tons of ammonium nitrate. But then they cut to a video of a Canadian policeman, saying that 3 tons "were delivered" to the suspects. Given that, why does that reporter just say they "tried to get" it? Strange.

How It All Began: Truman and Israel June 3 / 4, 2006 By HARRY CLARK The Truman Administration's policy on Palestine challenges at its start the "strategic asset" view of the US-Israel relationship, and reinforces the "Israel lobby" view, as argued in the recent article by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt. Truman's support for the creation of a Jewish state was due entirely to the US Jewish community, without whose influence Zionist achievements in Palestine would have been for nought. Long before any strategic argument was made, indeed, while a Jewish state was considered a strategic liability, long before Israel's fundamentalist Christian supporters of today were on the map, the nascent Israel lobby deployed its manifold resources with consummate skill and ruthlessness. Rabbi Abba Silver, a Cleveland Zionist with Republican contacts, and Zionist official Emmanuel Neumann, initiated "Democratic and Republican competition for the Jewish vote." In 1944 they "wrung support from the conventions of both parties for the Taft-Wagner [Senate] resolution" supporting abrogation of the Palestine immigration limits in the 1939 British white paper, and the establishment of Palestine as a Jewish commonwealth. Ensuring the traditional loyalty of Jewish voters was a paramount concern of Democratic politicians, up to the president himself, in the New York mayoral election of 1945, the 1946 congressional elections, and the 1948 presidential election. Gentile opinion was also courted in non-electoral ways, through the American Palestine Committee of notables, constituted in 1941 by Emmanuel Neumann of the American Zionist Emergency Committee. By 1946 it included "sixty-eight senators, two hundred congressmen and several state governors" with "seventy-five local chapters." It became "'the preeminent symbol of pro-Zionist sentiment among the non-Jewish American public.'" It was entirely a Zionist front. Zionist control was discreet but tight. The Committee's correspondence was drafted in the AZEC headquarters and sent to [chairman New York Senator Robert] Wagner for his signature. Mail addressed to Wagner as head of the American Palestine Committee, even if it came from the White House or the State Department, was opened and kept in Zionist headquarters; Wagner received a copy. The AZEC placed ads in the press under the committee's name without bothering to consult or advise it in advance, until one of its members meekly requested advance notice. Dewey Stone, a Zionist businessman, had financed Truman's vice-presidential campaign in 1944, and businessman Abraham Feinberg, with jewelry magnate Edmund Kauffman, led fundraising for the otherwise penniless 1948 presidential campaign. "If not for my friend Abe, I couldn't have made the [whistle-stop train] trip and I wouldn't have been elected," Truman stated. "Feinberg's activities began a process that made the Jews into 'the most conspicuous fundraisers and contributors to the Democratic Party.'" Key White House advisors ensured the domination of Zionist viewpoints in the highest circles of the Truman Administration. Jewish aides David Niles, administrative assistant to Truman, and Max Lowenthal, special assistant on Palestine to Clark Clifford, himself "Truman's key advisor on Palestine at the White House," were especially crucial. Niles was one of two presidential aides retained from the Roosevelt Administration, the other being Samuel Rosenman. Niles was Truman's chief political liaison with the Jewish community. Lowenthal was the Harvard-trained former counsel to the Senate Interstate Commerce Committee on which Truman had served, who specialized in drafting Zionist memoranda. In 1952 Truman stated in a letter to Lowenthal, "I don't know who has done more for Israel than you have." Clifford, an ambitious Missouri lawyer, like so many non-Jewish Democrats saw the manifest political advantages of Zionism; Truman's 1948 victory launched Clifford's career as consummate Washington insider. The "White House through its busy and assorted 'aides' never wanted for advice on the Palestine question. All together the quantity of well-argued advice coming in through various unofficial channels was enormous and would provide an efficient counter to that coming from the president's official foreign policy-making body, the State Department." This formidable apparatus was deployed at every twist and turn on the sinous path of events that culminated in Israel's creation. In 1945 the Zionist lobby linked concern for the Jewish displaced persons languishing in European camps to the Palestine question, and pressured Truman to endorse a Jewish Agency proposal for the British to admit 100,000 Jewish immigrants to Palestine. In April, 1946, a joint Anglo-American commission, with US Zionist members, duly endorsed the immigration proposal, among others, and talks about a comprehensive political settlement continued, resulting in the Morrison-Grady plan for a federal state with autonomy for Arab and Jewish provinces. Truman thought this then and later "the best of all solutions proposed for Palestine." The plan fell short of Zionist aspirations toward partition, and under intense pressure, with the fall elections looming, Truman reluctantly declined to endorse it. The Jewish Agency Executive, the governing body of the Zionist settlement in Palestine, proposed partition in early August. On October 4, 1946, the eve of Yom Kippur, Truman delivered his famous statement noting the Morrison-Grady plan, and the Jewish Agency partition proposal, calling the latter a solution which "would command the support of public opinion in the United States." Despite Truman's further observations that "the gap between the proposals" could be bridged, and that the US government could support such a compromise, the statement was intepreted as support for partition and a Jewish state, as Niles predicted to the author, the Jewish Agency representative in Washington, whose original draft had been modified by the State Department. The Yom Kippur statement marked a watershed in the political and diplomatic struggle for the Jewish state. The British saw in the statement a demonstration of Jewish political power and gave up their quest for an Anglo-American consensus on Palestine. [British Foreign Secretary] Bevin began issuing threats that the British would evacuate Palestine, and in February 1947 they did indeed refer the question with no recommendation to the United Nations. The United Nations Special Commission on Palestine was formed after the British announcement. Truman, "undoubtedly embarrassed by accusationsthat he had exploited the Palestine question for domestic political gain" with his Yom Kippur statement, thereafter remained silent. Before the UNSCOP decision, Truman still retained hope for the 1946 Morrison-Grady plan. When on August 31, 1947, UNSCOP announced its majority decision recommending partition, the administration came under overwhelming pressure to endorse it. The State Department, like the War Department and most of the government, and elite opinion generally, viewed good relations with the Arab states and people as the basis of US interests in the region's oil, in trade and investment, military basing rights, and excluding the rising bogey of Soviet influence. But the Zionist machine was at full throttle, Democratic politicians from Congress to the Cabinet protested vehemently to Truman about the political consequences, and a statement endorsing partition was made at the UN on October 11. Truman did fear that if partition became a US plan, it would require US military forces to implement. Neither the US nor the USSR, which endorsed partiton two days after the US, lobbied for votes among member states, and on Wednesday, November 26, the General Assembly approved the final draft partition resolution by one vote less than the required two-thirds majority. The partition forces postponed the final vote, and over the Thanksgiving holiday the president, his aides and US diplomats went to work. That Saturday, November 29, partition passed by 33 to 13, with ten abstentions. Truman took personal credit for changing several votes. The Zionists had been waging war against the British to drive them out of Palestine, and after the UN partition vote, civil war broke out with the Palestinian Arabs, who rejected partition. In February the State Department prepared plans for a UN trusteeship, with White House knowledge and approval. On March 18, a UN commission to monitor events in Palestine, which had predicted further chaos and bloodshed after the British withdrawal on May 14, reported its failure to arrange any agreement between Jews and Arabs. The following day the US ambassador to the UN announced the trusteeship proposal, which brought a political firestorm down on Truman, and on March 25, at a press conference he explained that trusteeship was only a means of eventually implementing the UN resolution for partition. The Arabs rejected it, as did the Zionists. Yet Truman's political fortunes continued to plummet; the Democratic Party revolted against his presidential candidacy. As Zionist forces achieved partition (and more) in battle, pressure built for recognition of the Jewish state, expected to be proclaimed on the final day of British withdrawal, May 14. The State Department was opposed; Secretary Marshall feared Jewish military successes would be temporary, that the Zionists would partition Palestine with King Abdullah of Transjordan without reaching a settlement with the Palestinian Arabs (which did happen), and that recognition would prejudice efforts to arrange a truce under UN auspices after May 14. Zionist pressure was ferocious; the White House "aides" were very busy; Clifford essentially commissioned the request for recognition from the Jewish Agency representative in Washington, which was duly delivered to the White House, and at 6:11 PM on May 14 Truman announced de facto recognition of the State of Israel, flummoxing the US delegation at the UN, and US allies. Marshall stated that, during a May 17 discussion, Truman "treated it somewhat as a joke as I had done but I think we both thought privately it was a hell of a mess," and felt that the US "had hit its all-time low before the U.N." US diplomacy in the ensuing Arab-Israeli war was conducted along similar lines. For all his accommodation of Zionism, Truman received only 75% of the Jewish vote, compared to Roosevelt's typical 90%. Truman lost New York, Dewey's home state, where there was also a large vote for Wallace. Truman did narrowly win Ohio, Illinois and California, helped by Jewish voters. After describing this tour de force of domestic power politics, Michael Cohen, whose work is mainly quoted here, argues that Israel's military prowess changed the views of the British and US diplomatic and military establishments. "[T]he White House and State Department, if only ephemerally, came to a consensus on Israel's vital importance to the West as a 'strategic asset."' The qualification "ephemerally" acknowledges the Eisenhower presidency, during which Israel was largely not regarded as a strategic asset. Cohen attributes Truman's susceptibility to Zionist influence to a "unique set of circumstances that converged to determine the fate of Palestine," including Jewish friends, White House advisors, key Jewish Democratic Party fundraisers, and Zionist military prowess, which "should not be expected ever to repeat themselves." The circumstances were not at all unique, but have been practically a recipe for quasi-sovereign Jewish influence on foreign policy in Democratic administrations. By institutionalization throughout the political culture, this influence extends to Republican administrations as well; Eisenhower was an exception. Such influence is not sinister or conspiratorial, but the overt working of US-style capitalist democracy, albeit on behalf of racism, war and genocide, and with a paralyzing effect, in this case, on the liberal circles which usually oppose such matters. The chauvinism of US organized Jewry is a distinctive feature of US society and history, comparable in importance to classic US singularities like slavery, and the absence of a socialist left, and their crippling legacies. Jewish influence in the Democratic Party, and its impact on foreign policy, notably on the inability of Democrats to mount a critique of the Iraq war and Middle East policy, is comparable to the influence of the Dixiecrats, the segregationist Southern Democrats, on civil rights, labor law and other issues. The moral antipode to organized Jewish power is not an orthodoxy which misattributes Jewish influence to "strategic interest," but anti-Zionism. Left internationalism, in which Jews were prominent, and classical Reform Judaism, once the dominant Jewish creed, emphatically rejected Zionism as a reactionary ideology, rejected modern Jewish nationality, and affirmed the Jewish place as a minority in liberal or revolutionary society. Anti-Zionism need not mean, immediately, a secular democratic state in Palestine, but the moral and intellectual framework which rejects Zionist claims on Jewish identity and gentile conscience, and asserts liberal and revolutionary values against radical nationalism. a great weekend. 5 rooms, packed to the rafters, overflowing with
people while the lobby, hallways,
restaurant, bar and entrance played
host to the remainder of the enthusiastic crowd.
Although I
could not see every presentation that I would have like to, I will
write a bit about the few that I was able to attend.
Presentation:

Government Atrocities and the News Media Cover-Up: Pat was initially
going to detail the Okalahoma City bombing as it was in his opinion,
and in the opinion of many others, the precursor to 9/11. However Pat
was so forthcoming with information on topic ranging from President
Lincoln to the assassinations of Lincoln, JFK, RFK and MLK that he was
never able to get to the Oklahoma City information! While one guest was
unhappy with Pats portrayal of Abraham Lincoln and eventually left the
presentation, the rest of the standing-room-only crowd was pretty much
mesmerized. Mr. Shannan made it clear that the media does not exactly
represent realty.
I spent some time talking to many of the
visitors and presenters. I had lunch with Carol Brouillet, leading 9/11
activist, creator of the Deception Dollar and maker of the film Behind
Every Terrorist There is a Bush!, which we will offer to our readers
next week. We discussed effective activism among a variety other things.

I missed the beginning of her presentation but what I was able to catch
can only be described as brilliant. Meria spoke about being one of the
first Internet radio pioneers. She spoke of news and information that
you wont find in our corporate media; like health issues, vaccines,
real news, etc. One of Merias past guests was in the audience -

He was openly grateful for and appreciative of Merias support and
work. His sentiments were felt by all in the audience.

got my blood boiling. The information that he shares about the conduct

enrages me! Ralph made a clear case for the need to replace our
leadership in a real house cleaning!

presentation but I can tell you this he had the standing-room-only
crowd ready to take back their nation! He made sure that the people
realize the scope of the problems with our so-called leaders, and his
session ended with a crowd participation strategy session. Jim had the
people fired up to take actionmyself included.
I had to leave
early because I had to prepare for my presentation tomorrow morning,
and I have to get there nice and early. I am making this an early
night. More tomorrowor when I have time.

As reported by WMR on May 30, there are now further widely confirmed reports of U.S. war crimes committed against innocent Iraqi civilians. In addition to the Nov. 2005 Haditha massacre of civilians, including women and children, there is now a report that U.S. troops massacred civilians in the town of Ishaqi in March of this year. Ishaqi is 10 miles north of Balad. The Bush White House and Pentagon have responded to these war crimes by ordering specialized training for U.S. troops before they deploy to Iraq.

In addition to US political and military leaders, international law provides for the indictment of propagandists who stoke the flames of hate by supporting war crimes and the unlawful actions of governments during wartime. William Joyce (nicknamed Lord Haw Haw), an Irish-American broadcaster for Nazi Germany, was hanged for treason on 1946. Mildred Sisk (nicknamed Axis Sally), an American who broadcasted messages to Allied troops on Radio Berlin, was convicted of one count of treason following the war. U.S. citizen Iva Toguri D'Aquino ("Tokyo Rose"), a broadcaster for Japanese radio during World War II, was convicted of treason.

She was pardoned by President Gerald Ford in a deal that Ford's Chief of Staff, Dick Cheney, was involved. Ferdinand Nahimana and Jean-Bosco Barayagwiza, broadcasters for Rwanda's Radio Milles Collines, were indicted by the International War Crimes Tribunal for Rwanda for airing anti-Tutsi messages in 1994. Bolivia's president has given more than 30,000 square km (18,600 sq
miles) of land to indigenous peasant communities under a programme of
agrarian reform.

Evo Morales launched the programme after landowners walked out of
talks with the government, warning they would take action to defend
their estates.

Thousands of peasants gathered in the centre of Santa Cruz to see Mr
Morales launch his agrarian revolution.

They cheered and waved rainbow flags symbolising indigenous resistance.

The venue for the ceremony was carefully chosen: Santa Cruz is the
home base of Bolivia's main landowners' federation, which is deeply
opposed to the land reform.

When its leaders walked out of talks with the government, they warned
that their members would form self-defence groups to protect their
estates.

But President Morales is clearly in no mood for compromise.

Bolivia's big landowners, he said, had to accept that the lands their
ancestors stole during the Spanish conquest five centuries ago would
now be returned to their original owners.

The land handed out on Saturday was already owned by the state.

But Evo Morales has said his government will also seize private
holdings that are judged not to be in productive use to meet his target
of redistributing around a fifth of Bolivia's total land area over the
next five years.

What a great weekend. 5 rooms, packed to the rafters, overflowing with
people while the lobby, hallways,
restaurant, bar and entrance played host to the remainder of the
enthusiastic crowd.

Although I could not see every presentation that I would have like to,
I will write a bit about the few that I was able to attend.

Presentation: Pat Shannan – Investigative reporter. www.patshannan.com
– Topic: Government Atrocities and the News Media Cover-Up: Pat was
initially going to detail the Okalahoma City bombing as it was in his
opinion, and in the opinion of many others, the precursor to 9/11.
However Pat was so forthcoming with information on topics ranging from
President Lincoln to the assassinations of Lincoln, JFK, RFK and MLK
that he was never able to get to the Oklahoma City information! While
one guest was unhappy with Pat’s portrayal of Abraham Lincoln and
eventually left the presentation, the rest of the standing-room-only
crowd was pretty much mesmerized. Mr. Shannan made it clear that the
media does not exactly represent realty.

I spent some time talking to many of the visitors and presenters. I
had lunch with Carol Brouillet, leading 9/11 activist, creator of the
Deception Dollar and maker of the film Behind Every Terrorist There is
a Bush!, which we will offer to our readers next week. We discussed
effective activism among a variety of other things.

Presentation: Meria Heller – Leading Internet Journalist/Radio Host –
www.meria.net – I missed the beginning of her presentation but what I
was able to catch can only be described as brilliant. Meria spoke about
being one of the first Internet radio pioneers. She spoke of news and
information that you won’t find in our corporate media; like health
issues, vaccines, real news, etc. One of Meria’s past guests was in the
audience - Charles Shaw (http://chuckville.gnn.tv/). He was openly
grateful for and appreciative of Meria’s support and work. His
sentiments were felt by all in the audience.

Presentation: Ralph Shoenman – Genius - http://www.takingaim.info/
9/11 and the Capitalist State: The Underlying Politics – As usual Ralph
got my blood boiling. The information that he shares about the conduct
of our nation when it comes to undermining democracy, bio warfare,
disease creation, human guinea pig experimentation and the financial
kingpins of the global terror elite (the Carlyle Group, et. al.) simply
enrages me! Ralph made a clear case for the need to replace our
leadership in a real house cleaning!

Presentation: Jim Fetzer: - Founder of Scholars for 9/11 Truth –
http://st911.com – I was only able to catch bits and pieces of Jim’s
presentation because I was bouncing between his presentation and
Ralph’s presentation but I can tell you this… he had the
standing-room-only crowd ready to take back their nation! He made sure
that the people realize the scope of the problems with our so-called
leaders, and his session ended with a crowd participation strategy
session. Jim had the people fired up to take action…myself included.

I had to leave early because I had to prepare for my presentation
tomorrow morning, and I have to get there nice and early. I am making
this an early night. More tomorrow…or when I have time.

to do something that may be unpopular even with some of his supporters,
to remove all excuses from Iran and its supporters to say, “We went the
extra mile. We gave Iran really, this last chance to show that they are
serious when they say they don’t want nuclear weapons.” This is put or
shut up time for Iran.

sources Inside the Beltway report that First Lady Laura Bush has
established temporary residence in the Mayflower Hotel in Washington,
DC as a result of a tiff with President Bush over an extramarital
relationship involving her husband. Mr. Bush's tryst is said to involve
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. It is not known how long Mrs. Bush
plans to remain at the Mayflower, however, her security detail has been
present at the hotel during hours when the First Lady would normally be
residing in the White House. While she was National Security Adviser,
Rice, who has never been married, referred to George W. Bush as "my
husband" before she corrected herself and said, "President. Bush" Rice
was speaking at a dinner hosted by New York Times bureau chief Philip
Taubman when she made her "husband" remarks.

June 2, 2006 -- A White House source, speaking on background,
vehemently denied to WMR that there are marital problems between
President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush over a reported extramarital
affair between Mr. Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
However, two mainstream media sources have confirmed that their
sources also have reported an ongoing affair between Mr. Bush and Rice.
The mainstream media is hamstrung in reporting stories about Bush's
personal life. For example, in 2001, the media highlighted Bush's
comments about his passing out from choking on a pretzel while watching
a football game in the White House. In reality, Bush, who claims he
gave up drinking years ago, passed out from being inebriated.
Washington's movers and shakers knew the story about Bush's drinking
but the media studiously avoided it.

June 3, 2006 -- WMR can report that a Mayflower Hotel staffer has
confirmed that First Lady Laura Bush spent at least one night this past
week at the hotel, which is four blocks north of the White House. Mrs.
Bush reportedly moved out of the White House after a confrontation with
President Bush over his on-going affair with Secretary of State
Condoleezza Rice. The Mayflower's official position on the story is
that they can "neither confirm nor deny" the identities of their
guests. Because it's penchant for security and secrecy is well known to
the Secret Service, the Mayflower has become a reliable hotel for U.S.
and international VIPs.

Some Washington observers believe that the recent flare up between
Laura Bush and the president stems from the fact that her poll numbers
are twice as favorable as her husband's (60 percent to 29 percent).
Laura Bush's recent solo missions to New Orleans, Colorado, and an AIDS
conference at the United Nations represent a virtual declaration of
independence from the most unpopular president in U.S. history. "She's
[Laura's] taking a page right out of Hillary's book," said one
Washington pundit. Rice, on the other hand, has been very close and
loyal to Bush since she signed on as his chief foreign policy adviser
in 2000. WMR has been told of intimate encounters between Mr. Bush and
Rice on trips to New York City (multiple occasions) and New Orleans
following Katrina.

MOGADISHU (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of people took to the streets
of Mogadishu on Friday angrily condemning the United States for
supporting warlords involved in clashes with Islamic militias that
claimed 16 more lives overnight.

"America is responsible for the death of our children and the elderly,"
Sheikh Nur Barud, a respected cleric in Mogadishu, told the crowd
chanting anti-American slogans.

"We are ready to defend our religion from the big American evil," read
a banner held high by Mogadishu resident Ureji Yusuf at the rally
protected by Islamic militia armed with machine guns, anti-aircraft
missiles and rocket-propelled grenades.

Tens of thousands of people surged through Tarbuunka square in the
Somali capital, voicing support for Islamic courts whose fighters have
been engaged in vicious clashes with a coalition of warlords many say
are funded by the United States.

Some 350 people have been killed in three bouts of heavy fighting since
the start of the year in the fighting that had focused on the capital
but has now moved beyond Mogadishu.

Fresh gun battles overnight in a remote village 15 km (9 miles) north
of Mogadishu killed 16 people, witnesses said.

"At least 16 have died from both sides and several others were
wounded," Ibrahim Moallim, a member of a so-called anti-terrorism
warlord coalition, told Reuters.

"I saw one of our dead militia."

Sources said the fighting had subsided by noon on Friday. But residents
said three people were killed in a blast after a motorcycle passed a
road in Bondere district of north Mogadishu.

"It's not clear whether it was a bomb or a mine," said Abdi Osman, a
resident who spoke to family members in Bondere.

"Three people were killed instantly, among them a woman and children.
Body parts were scattered all over the place."

Although also fueled by commercial and political motives, such fights
in and around Mogadishu are seen by many Somalis as a proxy war between
Islamists and the United States.

Somali officials say the United States is funding the warlord coalition
in return for attacks on Islamists it thinks are allied with or
sheltering al Qaeda suspects.

Washington has not commented except to say it welcomes support in its
"war on terror."

The U.S. government has long viewed Somalia, without a central
government since the 1991 ouster of former dictator Mohamed Siad Barre
as a haven for terrorists.

Lovelock: The Point of No Return is Behind Us
Environment in crisis: 'We are past the point of
no return'

Thirty years ago, the scientist James Lovelock
worked out that the Earth possessed a
planetary-scale control system which kept the
environment fit for life. He called it Gaia, and
the theory has become widely accepted. Now, he
believes mankind's abuse of the environment is
making that mechanism work against us. His
astonishing conclusion - that climate change is
already insoluble, and life on Earth will never be
the same again.

The world has already passed the point of no
return for climate change, and civilisation as we
know it is now unlikely to survive, according to
James Lovelock, the scientist and green guru who
conceived the idea of Gaia - the Earth which keeps
itself fit for life.

In a profoundly pessimistic new assessment,
published in today's Independent, Professor
Lovelock suggests that efforts to counter global
warming cannot succeed, and that, in effect, it is
already too late.

The world and human society face disaster to a
worse extent, and on a faster timescale, than
almost anybody realises, he believes. He writes: "
Before this century is over, billions of us will
die, and the few breeding pairs of people that
survive will be in the Arctic where the climate
remains tolerable."

In making such a statement, far gloomier than any
yet made by a scientist of comparable
international standing, Professor Lovelock accepts
he is going out on a limb. But as the man who
conceived the first wholly new way of looking at
life on Earth since Charles Darwin, he feels his
own analysis of what is happening leaves him no
choice. He believes that it is the self-regulating
mechanism of Gaia itself - increasingly accepted
by other scientists worldwide, although they
prefer to term it the Earth System - which,
perversely, will ensure that the warming cannot be
mastered.

This is because the system contains myriad
feedback mechanisms which in the past have acted
in concert to keep the Earth much cooler than it
otherwise would be. Now, however, they will come
together to amplify the warming being caused by
human activities such as transport and industry
through huge emissions of greenhouse gases such as
carbon dioxide (CO2 ).

It means that the harmful consequences of human
beings damaging the living planet's ancient
regulatory system will be non-linear - in other
words, likely to accelerate uncontrollably.

He terms this phenomenon "The Revenge of Gaia" and
examines it in detail in a new book with that
title, to be published next month.

The uniqueness of the Lovelock viewpoint is that
it is holistic, rather than reductionist. Although
he is a committed supporter of current research
into climate change, especially at Britain's
Hadley Centre, he is not looking at individual
facets of how the climate behaves, as other
scientists inevitably are. Rather, he is looking
at how the whole control system of the Earth
behaves when put under stress.

Professor Lovelock, who conceived the idea of Gaia
in the 1970s while examining the possibility of
life on Mars for Nasa in the US, has been warning
of the dangers of climate change since major
concerns about it first began nearly 20 years ago.

He was one of a select group of scientists who
gave an initial briefing on global warming to
Margaret Thatcher's Cabinet at 10 Downing Street
in April 1989.

His concerns have increased steadily since then,
as evidence of a warming climate has mounted. For
example, he shared the alarm of many scientists at
the news last September that the ice covering the
Arctic Ocean is now melting so fast that in 2005
it reached a historic low point.

Two years ago he sparked a major controversy with
an article in The Independent calling on
environmentalists to drop their long-standing
opposition to nuclear power, which does not
produce the greenhouses gases of conventional
power stations.

Global warming was proceeding so fast that only a
major expansion of nuclear power could bring it
under control, he said. Most of the Green movement
roundly rejected his call, and does so still.

Now his concerns have reached a peak - and have a
new emphasis. Rather than calling for further ways
of countering climate change, he is calling on
governments in Britain and elsewhere to begin
large-scale preparations for surviving what he now
sees as inevitable - in his own phrase today, "a
hell of a climate", likely to be in Europe up to
8C hotter than it is today.

In his book's concluding chapter, he writes: "What
should a sensible European government be doing
now? I think we have little option but to prepare
for the worst, and assume that we have passed the
threshold."

And in today's Independent he writes: "We will do
our best to survive, but sadly I cannot see the
United States or the emerging economies of China
and India cutting back in time, and they are the
main source of [CO2] emissions. The worst will
happen ..."

He goes on: "We have to keep in mind the awesome
pace of change and realise how little time is left
to act, and then each community and nation must
find the best use of the resources they have to
sustain civilisation for as long as they can." He
believes that the world's governments should plan
to secure energy and food supplies in the global
hothouse, and defences against the expected rise
in sea levels. The scientist's vision of what
human society may ultimately be reduced to through
climate change is " a broken rabble led by brutal
warlords."

Professor Lovelock draws attention to one aspect
of the warming threat in particular, which is that
the expected temperature rise is currently being
held back artificially by a global aerosol - a
layer of dust in the atmosphere right around the
planet's northern hemisphere - which is the
product of the world's industry.

This shields us from some of the sun's radiation
in a phenomenon which is known as "global dimming"
and is thought to be holding the global
temperature down by several degrees. But with a
severe industrial downturn, the aerosol could fall
out of the atmosphere in a very short time, and
the global temperature could take a sudden
enormous leap upwards.

One of the most striking ideas in his book is that
of "a guidebook for global warming survivors"
aimed at the humans who would still be struggling
to exist after a total societal collapse.

Written, not in electronic form, but "on durable
paper with long-lasting print", it would contain
the basic accumulated scientific knowledge of
humanity, much of it utterly taken for granted by
us now, but originally won only after a hard
struggle - such as our place in the solar system,
or the fact that bacteria and viruses cause
infectious diseases.

Rough guide to a planet in jeopardy

Global warming, caused principally by the
large-scale emissions of industrial gases such as
carbon dioxide (CO2), is almost certainly the
greatest threat that mankind has ever faced,
because it puts a question mark over the very
habitability of the Earth.

Over the coming decades soaring temperatures will
mean agriculture may become unviable over huge
areas of the world where people are already poor
and hungry; water supplies for millions or even
billions may fail. Rising sea levels will destroy
substantial coastal areas in low-lying countries
such as Bangladesh, at the very moment when their
populations are mushrooming. Numberless
environmental refugees will overwhelm the capacity
of any agency, or indeed any country, to cope,
while modern urban infrastructure will face
devastation from powerful extreme weather events,
such as Hurricane Katrina which hit New Orleans
last summer.

The international community accepts the reality of
global warming, supported by the UN's
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. In its
last report, in 2001, the IPCC said global average
temperatures were likely to rise by up to 5.8C by
2100. In high latitudes, such as Britain, the rise
is likely to be much higher, perhaps 8C. The
warming seems to be proceeding faster than
anticipated and in the IPCC's next report, 2007,
the timescale may be shortened. Yet there still
remains an assumption that climate change is
controllable, if CO2 emissions can be curbed.
Lovelock is warning: think again.

Climate Change Will Kill Billions This Century,
Scientist Says

Jan. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Climate change will kill
billions of people this century as the Earth
warms, passing into a ``fever' phase from which it
may take 100,000 years to recover, James Lovelock,
the scientist who propounded the ``Gaia' theory,
said.

Temperatures in temperate regions such as Europe
and the U.S., will soar by 8 degrees Celsius (14
degrees Fahrenheit) this century, and those in the
tropics will rise by 5 degrees as a result of
man-made emissions, Lovelock wrote in today's
Independent newspaper.

``We have given Gaia a fever and soon her
condition will worsen to a state like a coma,'
Lovelock wrote. ``She has been there before and
recovered, but it took more than 100,000 years. We
are responsible and will suffer the consequences.'

Lovelock's Gaia theory, advanced in the 1970s,
sees the Earth behaving like a self-sustaining
organism, with a control system that keeps the
environment fit for life. By trying to take over
regulation of the planet's climate, humans have
condemned themselves to ``the worst kind of
slavery,' and will soon find it impossible to keep
the Earth fit for life, Lovelock said.

``Much of the tropical land mass will become scrub
and desert, and will no longer serve for
regulation; this adds to the 40 percent of the
Earth's surface we have depleted to feed
ourselves,' he said. ``Before this century is over
billions of us will die and the few breeding pairs

theory that the planet's climate patterns are
changing as a result of human activity. The
administration of U.S. President George W. Bush
has said there's no proof that global warming is

The following article was a contest entry that won the distinction of
being published in a special issue of Quill / The Journalist.

The New Yorker who pointed me to this article knows the author personally.
He says the author was unable to tell the worst part of the story
here: that the secret service thugs actually beat him and his
cameraman to an inch of their lives, as well as confiscating the camera.

Perhaps a few more years will make it possible for him to tell the
full story. In a version from Dec. 2001, he was not able to mention
the incident with the storm troopers at all, limiting his comments to
this: " It was the most difficult story I have ever had to report
because I had to remain detached while focusing on the intensely
emotional details of the story."

His testimony may throw light on the controversy around the
reliability of the officially sanctioned 9/11 video evidence. For
this reason, we believe that publishing this article online falls is
a fair use for scholarly purposes.

It's already well known that during the clean-up at the WTC, all
amateur photography was prohibited and cameras were confiscated and
destroyed. It's also known that key audiotapes from air traffic
controllers on 9/11 were destroyed by perps, and of course, that 85
videotapes were confiscated at the Pentagon and have never been released.

One Man's 9/11
A journalist's tale of survival amid the chaos and tragedy of the
attack on the World Trade Center

SEPTEMBER 11TH has always had a special meaning for me. It is the day
on which I was born and, ironically, the day on which I almost died.
About 8:45 on that fateful morning, I was in the Chelsea TV studio
control room on 26th street when the first of the two jetliners
crashed into One World Trade Center. Three minutes later, I was
driving in the middle of a convoy of police cars and ambulances
racing down Seventh Avenue towards the Trade Center.
As I passed St. Vincent's Hospital, a sea of doctors and nurses were
spilling out onto the avenue. They were lining up rows of gurneys for
the victims they would never see.
As I emerged from my car near City Hall, I heard a deafening noise
and rumble. It was the impact of the second plane, Flight 175, on Two
World Trade Center. Port Authority police and Emergency Services
officials started screaming and running. I grabbed a freelance
cameraman who was shooting tape from a vantage point on Broadway.
"You're working for UPN 9 News today!" I shouted.
My cell phone was not getting through; I found a phone booth and was
able to file the first of several reports to the studio.
There were many feds in windbreakers, FBI agents and secret service
agents, all running from the Trade Center area. We trained our
cameras on the firefighters and Emergency services officers racing in
the other direction toward the unknown. Suddenly several cops and
firemen shouted and pointed upward. Tower One was starting to crumble.
A fireman shouted, "Run!" We all scrambled for our lives as the tower
collapsed, sending an avalanche of deadly concrete and steel
cascading our way. We were trying to outrun the wave of destruction
that engulfed everything in its path. We dashed into the first open
structure -- the old St. Peter's Church on Barclay Street. About a
dozen of us made it into the church as the debris from the Trade
Center slammed onto the front steps. The tiny church shuddered and
began to fill with a choking-thick white dust. We fled to a chapel in
the basement, looking for air and a way out.
When the rumbling stopped, we returned to the first-level altar where
firefighters would lay to rest the beloved fire chaplain and hero,
the Reverend Mychal Judge, who died while delivering last rites to a
firefighter who had been killed in the collapse of Tower One.
St. Peter's Church had become a life-saving refuge for many of us.
As my cameraman and I returned to One World Trade Center, a handful
of firefighters and cops were staring at the mass of concrete and
twisted burning metal. Their faces shook with anger and despair. We
were standing half a block away when we captured this scene on video.
But our work would never be seen. Suddenly, two plainclothes
detectives dressed in NYPD windbreakers started screaming and running
toward us. They grabbed my cameraman and slammed him against the side
of a building and took his camera. One detective smashed it onto the
hood of a car, breaking the lens off. He then tossed the camera into
the back of a patrol car -- outrageous police behavior.
It was perhaps the most difficult story I have ever had to report. I
suspect it will take years before any of us will fully know how
emotionally scarred we might be from what we saw and heard. And there
was the inescapable fact that I would never again care to celebrate
my birthday -- September 11th -- because of the mass murders of
innocent people that I witnessed on that day.

of Bush-Cheney based on their 9/11 crimes, with the first article against
Bush for misprision of high treason. This approach should be replicated
everywhere. Our movement is the cutting edge of impeachment, and we must
guarantee that the impeachment groundswell includes the 9/11 element without
which it will falter.

We will take back the air waves from the corporate media with a relentless
barrage of phone calls to C-SPAN, Air America, and to every television and
radio talk show in this country and beyond, all for the purpose of placing
9/11 truth at the top of the national agenda. This guerrilla war can bring
our message to tens of millions of people every day, circumventing the
gatekeepers.

We will support candidates of any party or of no party who embrace 9/11
truth. We will focus national attention on key candidacies like those of
Carol Brouillet for Congress in California, Bob Bowman for Congress in
Florida, Craig Hill in Vermont, and others. We also wish to direct
international attention to the candidacy of Irish 9/11 truth movement leader
Morgan Stack to the Dail (Parliament of the Republic of Ireland) for the
district of Cork South Central.

We will continue our surveillance of drills and exercises to raise the
political price the invisible government must pay if it seeks to carry out
new crimes.

While stressing that the MIHOP historical and political analysis of 9/11 is
already conclusive, we urge that 9/11 deep throats and whistleblowers come
forward, both to testify and to produce additional written or recorded
evidence of courtroom quality on the scale of the Watergate tapes that can
put the September criminals behind bars.

In the event that Bush-Cheney seek to impose martial law, we will agitate
for an open-ended general strike of the civil rights movement, the labor
movement, immigrant groups, minorities, students, and all persons of good
will to demand the restoration of Constitutional rule.
